The hero went on with his life, wanting a peaceful, stress free lifestyle now that Eggman was gone. Everyone's lives changed after they defeated him, there was no more fights, so they stopped seeing Knuckles so often that he spent all his time at the island protecting the master emerald and training. He was only coming down when his friends invited him to hang out.

Shadow started going on missions more often. Rouge tagging along all the time, wanting to be there for her best friend who was trying to ignore he was hurt after the break up. Sonic never saw him again after the day Shadow gave him the last box that had stayed behind before he moved out.

Amy and Tails were the ones who kept in contact with the azure one, trying to get him to do something else than just running around. After about 6 months of their breakup, the heros best friends figured he needed to get out there again and find someone who would keep him company.  The hero wasn't sure if he was ready for that step just yet, but just a week after the one year mark of his breakup, he found someone online who he had connected with.

Someone he spent every single day talking to, from morning to night. He texted, called, and video chatted with him, connecting with him in a different way than how he connected with Shadow. But maybe it was because his friends had dropped him without a reason?

"Move in with me." The man said on the other side of the phone. "Come on. We've been talking for 4 months now. You can't tell me you like to take things slow."

"I don't know. 4 months is too soon. We haven't even met in person." The azure one laid down in his bed, looking up at the ceiling as he pressed the phone to his ear again.

"It's not like you don't know me, Sonic. You've seen that I have changed. Plus, you said it yourself, you need to get out of there. Those friends of yours keep giving you looks and even ignoring you. Have you figured out why?"

"No. They do a U turn whenever they see me." Sonic sighed, lowering his ears ever so slightly as he remembered his friends. He felt sad, heartbroken, useless, completely defeated. "Maybe we were just friends because we needed to fight Eggman. Now that he's gone, they've realized they don't need me."

"You don't need them either, Sonic. You have me, I'll always be by your side." There was a pause on the other end of the heros line. He heard as his new boyfriend closed a door. "I'm laying in bed, I have the perfect spot for you here."

"Oh, shut up." The hero laughed as he sat up, feeling shivers down his spine as he heard his boyfriend pat down beside him as if telling Sonic to go over. "We've talked about this."

"Right. Right. You are playing hard to get." The other scoffed.

"Excuse me? I just don't want you to think I'm easy." The hero stopped talking, then got lost in his mind, thinking of how he should proceed.

He wanted adventure, he wanted to move around, he wanted to act without thinking so he didn't think. He didn't think this through before he spoke. He simply agreed.

"I'll move in with you." Sonic said with a bright smile and a soft laugh. He was in love. After his breakup with Shadow, the hero thought he may never find someone else who would make him feel the way Shadow made him feel.

But that was proven wrong when he met HIM. He felt safe, happy, and loved. He was not alone anymore. He wasn't going to leave him like everyone else did. He understood him, and what sealed the deal for Sonic was that he felt included with him, unlike the way Shadow was with him.

"Really?" The other sat up excitedly. "I could go for you."

"No. No. I can take care of everything. I need an address. Is your house big enough for my stuff?" Sonic asked as he started pacing around the room, mentally screaming, not believing he was actually doing this.

He felt stupid, yet happy and excited. And at the same time, childish for acting such way. He knew he was rushing things. He knew how reckless this was, but he felt supported. He didn't feel alone anymore. HE didn't make him feel alone anymore.

"It is." Sonics, new boyfriend, answered. "Adress is sent. When should I expect you here, baby?" Sonic looked down at his phone and smiled.

"I can get everything ready in 3 days." Sonic promised. "I love you. Got to go, Fleetway!"

I hung up the phone and chuckled softly. I placed the phone on the bed and stood up, walking around the room and walking to the window.
