*Shadow's POV*
It was as if the kiss he gave me the day before activated something in him. He looked happier and cheerful. He looked less stressed out. For the first time since I brought him with me, he was in the kitchen, baking something. He had asked me to go to the store to get some ingredients and to leave the kitchen so he could make me something.

"Here!" Sonic smiled as he walked out of the kitchen with a platter of a 3 layer brownie. Bottom lawyer looked to be chocolate chip cookie, the middle seemed like a chocolate cream filled cookie and the top was a regular fudge brownie. "When Spike took me to his apartment, his roommate Lucy made me these. They are called 'slutty brownies', I remember how much of a sweet tooth you have. I hope you like it."

"I'll eat one if you eat one with me." I reached for his hand and he took it, I pulled him to sit down beside me on the couch. He placed the tray on our laps then looked down at the food.

"I'll gain weight if I do." He lowered his voice and his ears as he spoke. "You won't like me."

"What?" I asked confused, I let go of his hand and clenched my fists.

"I'll get fat." He mumbled.

I saw red. Was this why Sonic wouldn't eat? He was afraid I wouldn't like him if he gained weight? I want to kill that guy. I want to make him suffer for everything he did to Sonic. I wanted to kill him. I want him dead.

Calm down. You need to stay calm or you'll scare Sonic.

I looked up at Sonic and took in a deep breath then grabbed a brownie and then his hand and placed the brownie there. I tapped his palm and then made him look at me.

"Everything he said to you, EVERYTHING that guy said to you does not apply with me. Or anyone else. Eat. I want you to eat. You weren't fat before, you never were. He was just manipulating you, using you, keeping you weak so you wouldn't leave him." I kissed his forehead. "You're in a safe place now, you can eat as much as you want, you can do whatever you want. Chaos, bother me, yell at me, demand something from me. I will give you anything."

There were tears escaping his eyes again, I was used to seeing him cry by now but it still hurt nonetheless. Especially after knowing the things he went through.

"Kiss me." My eyes widened and my ears perked up. I was about to ask if I heard correctly when he repeated himself. "Kiss me!" I didn't waste a second and moved the tray to the coffee table in front of us then leaned closer and kissed him.

My hands moved to my sides where I let them rest so I wouldn't touch Sonic in any way. He instantly kissed back and grabbed my hands then placed them on his hips. I wasn't sure what was going on but I couldn't stop myself from kissing him and even deepening the kiss. His lips were soft and it was everything I needed, everything I had been wanting the past 2 years we were separated. I finally had him back.

I quickly pulled away when he moved to my lap and he wrapped his arms around my neck then he moved his waist in a way I wasn't expecting from him. I opened my eyes and I pushed him back into the couch as I panted softly then I quickly stood up.

"What are you doing?" I quickly asked as I tried to calm myself down.

"I -" He stopped then looked down at his hands. It suddenly clicked in my head what had just happened.

"I am not using you, Sonic." I was hurt and mad but I remained calm as to not scare him. "I am not trying to have sex with you, I love you." His eyes widened and then he closed them and looked away. "I would never do that to you." I repeated.

"I don't know if I can feel the same." My heart broke as I remembered me telling him those exact same words. I grabbed his hands and squeezed them.

"Do you want to give it a try?" I asked softly. His ear flickered and he looked at me then gave me a soft smile and nodded.

"If you're willing to be patient with me. Yes." I smiled back and nodded. I couldn't help and hug him, Sonic didn't hug back. He simply tensed up, but he also didn't push me away.

It was a good first step.

Sonic and I were dating again.
