Talking Session Chpt. 11
The next morning, I was sitting on the edge of the lake with my feet dipped in the water. I was staring at the rushing waterfall like as if I was in a trance. Well, I was sort of in a trance: what happened last night was replying in my mind: 'Qu'est-ce que je l'ai fait, abandonnant Toosk comme ça, ai-je fais la bonne chose? Je l'ai fait me sauver, mais pas lui ... au moins je sauvé quelqu'un ... eh bien, moi-même, qui est.' What I did, abandoning Tuukka like that, did I do the right thing? I did save myself, but not him...at least I saved someone...well, myself, that is.
I letted the sound of nature take over my thoughts so that I wouldn't have to be focusing on the feeling of regretfulness that was flooding my mind. I was feeling awful leaving him behind just like that for the sake of my powers not being revealed. 'Mais que puis-je faire maintenant? Je pourrais tenter de le sauver, mais tout ce que je savais était que je finirais par être moi-même capturé.' But what can I do now? I could attempt saving him, but all I knew was that I would end up getting captured myself.
With a heavy sigh, I dipped my head down, so now I was looking down at the crystal clear water; I was able to see my bare feet with a blurred effect below the surface.
I then felt someone approach me. I turned my head around, looking over my shoulder.
There was Bella sauntering up to me with a smile on her face. "Hey, Captain!" she greeted.
I nodded my head. "Hey..."
She stopped next to me on my right side. "Do you mind if I join you?"
"Sure--I mean, I don't mind, yea, you can...sit."
"Thanks." She rolled up her jeans and sat next to me, placing her feet in the water; she turned to me. "So, how're you doing?"
"Uhhh..." I gritted my teeth, staring at the lake.
"What's wrong?" I heard her say with concern.
"It's nothing--"
"No, no...tell me... You can tell me anything; talking helps."
I gazed at her reflection on the water, which was next to mine. "I think I did a really stupid move." I straightened up and looked at her.
"Oh..." Bella had her eyes widened. "...would you mind tell me more?"
"Mmmm..." I was starting to feel comfortable talking to Bella about sensitive things since I trusted her due to my love for you. "...I 'abandoned' a friend of mine..."
"Oh no! Captain, you're not suppose to do that!" she said between giggles. "What happened?"
"Well--" I scratched my head whle gazing out in front of me. "--it's because we were fighting against some dude last night to find out some plans about this other really evil guy and my friend got caught by one of the bad guys and I would've saved him, but I didn't want him to see my powers since they would've been revealed...if I did..." I turned to look at Bella.
She was gawking at me. "You...have powers?" She said it as if it was something she knew existed, but a little amount of people had."Uh, yea...I do, but I prefer not to use them."
"What's so weird about them though?"
"It's just..." I shook my head. "They're just weird. To be honest...I'm kinda embarrassed by them." I frowned at the lake.
"Well, it takes sometime to get used to them in front of other people." She placed her arm on my shoulder. "Give it time."
I smiled a bit. "Thanks."
"But, would you mind telling me...what powers you have?" She shot my a sly look.
Oooo...if I tell her, then she would want to see it and no, no, no, no. I shook my head. "No, I'm not comfortable telling you."
"Okay, that's fine." She nodded her head.
"But do you have powers?" I shot back at her with furrowed eyebrows.
"Yea, I do, actually!"
I rose my eyebrows. "Really?"
"Yup: my archery skills and hunting senses are at a supernatural level." Her smile grew large.
I pang of envy shot through me. Lucky. "That's...so cool. So useful. If only I could trade me powers for your's...! Oh..." I leaned my head back with my arms propped on the grass behind me.
"I think you'll appreciate your powers soon," I heard Bella tell me. "You'll see."
"I hope...," I told the sky. "I...I feel so useless next to my friends with supernatural abilities because they use them...but I don't use mine...because I don't want to...I don't, it's too weird, too disturbing. I try to use my gun to fight, but it doesn't compare to the powers being used." I lowered my head and gazed at Bella.
"Well, if you actually use your powers, you wouldn't feel so useless." I felt her hand go on top of my right hand as she softened her facial expression. "Don't worry, you'll use 'em in the right time. When the time is right." She gave me a confident smile.
"Okay," I told her, nodding my head. "But...how did you get them? Your powers?"
"I...actually don't remember. I just woke up with them, I suppose." She had a serious look, notifying me that she was telling the truth.
"Oh..."
"How did you get your powers?" Bella asked back.
"Some guy gave 'em to me...I don't think you'll know him: Pierre Mustanen?"
"No, I don't know him." She shook her head.
Then I felt like telling her what I was feeling at the moment. "Well, this is out of the ordinary, but...I feel really comfortable talking to you about things that I don't feel easy talking about to others."
"I'm glad you feel that way." She smiled with her mouthclosed.
"Yea..." I looked out at the waterfall. "...I'm glad there's actually someone I could talk to...with comfort."
"I'm glad you feel that way." Bella then laid her head on my shoulder gently.
I decided to enjoy the moment, gazing out at the waterfall while Bella was next to me.
Exactly what I needed after what happened last night.
