Obliviously Uncontrollable Chpt. 8

That afternoon, Toosk called in a meeting at my house.
So we surrounded my dining table, conversing about the person we all hate the most: Pierre. I was sitting on the side of the dining table, facing the window; Toosk was to my right, on the end of the table, facing the kitchen; Wayne was across from me with his back to the window; Mitty was on the other end of the table across from Toosk, with her back facing the kitchen.
"So are we gonna save your friends first or take down Pierre first?" Mitty asked, having her elbows on the table.
"Well, in order to take down Pierre, we need to save the others," Toosk answered with a frown.
"Remember how that went last time?" Wayne raised his eyebrows at his friend. "And that was with telepathy!"
"Yea, it went like that because telepathy was being used," the leader pointed out. "If we use a different way, maybe we wouldn't be so vulnerable to the mind."
"We are all vulnerable to the mind, Toosk--Pierre can control us any moment." The blond man's eyes were wide.
Toosk just letted out a moan with his hands covering his face; he began sliding down from his chair.
"I think we should just take Pierre down, you know, the one who's causing all of this," Mitty suggested a bit harshly.
"Whoa whoa whoa, wait. Wait." Toosk straightened up with a deep breath, composing himself; he then turned to me. "Captain."
"Yea?" I answered, gazing a him.
"Do you remember the last time us two went to his headquarters...and that I was having those 'headaches.'"
"Yea..." I nodded my head, remembering the event vividly in my mind.
"Do you know why I had that headache?"
I stared at Wayne and Mitty, who were giving us odd looks. I then made a connect of why Toosk had those headaches back there since he didn't tell me why directly. "Because...of Pierre?"
"Yes, because Pierre was trying to control me." He nodded. "But I wonder, why did I experience that...but not...you?"
Now everyone was staring at me with shocked looks.
"Because he didn't try to take over me?" I shrugged.
"He wanted you to come with him, remember? He did want you," Toosk said, pointing at me with a grave stare.
I gazed at my lap. "Well..." I began remembering something else that happened there. "...actually, I think they, I mean, him, he tried to take over me, but couldn't." I looked back up. "I felt the ground coming out at me and then he said that it wasn't working."
"He didn't specify on 'it'?" Wayne asked.
"It's obvious, Wayne, he wanted to take over him!" Toosk told him, extending his hand at me. "Why else would he be fine, yet experienced something we never experienced before in this case?"
"He actually said that he wanted to control me, but I was different," I blurted out as the past was becoming more clearly in my mind.
"Told you." The leader shrugged at his friend.
Wayne just looked away from him with narrowed eyes.
"So are you telling us that you can't be controlled?" Mitty asked me.
"I believe so--I can't be controlled!" I actually felt very proud of myself that I had that very vital ability.
"Are those one of your powers?" Toosk questioned.
"To not be controlled?" I shot him an odd look. "No, I never knew I was able to do that!"
"But didn't Pierre give you your powers?" Wayne pointed out.
"Yea..."
"So why did you give you the ability that could practically fail him?"
"Maybe he did it obliviously?" Mitty suggested.
"Who cares about why Pierre gave Captain that ability, let's just use it to our advantage as best as we can, okay?" Toosk cut in.
"Alright, but how are we gonna use him to 'our advantage'?" the blond man asked.
"Captain can confront Pierre without the fear of being controlled."
"And what are we gonna do?" Mitty throws her hands out in questioning.
"We can make way for the him by fighting the others..."
"But we're gonna be controlled," Wayne said in a mocking tone.
"Some of us are gonna have to sacrifice sooner or later--at least we know how to get out of his control, right?" Toosk raised his eyebrows.
Wayne didn't seem too please of the plan.
"And what is Captain gonna do to Pierre?" Mitty asked the leader.
"He's gonna use his powers, it's the only way to defeat a guy with powers." He gazed at me with a sly look. "Right, Captain?"
I looked at him with an anxious look because of the way he was looking at me. "Wha?"
"You're gonna use your powers for this right?"
"Uh, yea, I guess..." My eyes darted to the ground, trying to not feel so embarrassed about the thought of my powers.
"You seem uncertain about that, Capt..." I heard Toosk say.
I letted out a sigh. "I just don't like using them," I mumbled.
"You don't like using your powers?"
I shook my head at my lap. "No."
"Why, what's so bad about your powers?" I heard Wayne pipe in. "I mean, I have angel wings as mine practically!"
At least people still know you're you. "It's complicated, okay?" I looked back up, giving them a look saying 'drop the topic or else.'
"We're your friends, you can tell us anything without being afraid." Mitty shrugged. "Don't be afraid."
I just shook my head while looking up, just thinking about the powers so that I won't tell them then regret it later on.
"Don't worry, guys," I heard Mitty say softly to the two other guys, "he'll break--he'll tell us. Just give it time. For now, we can use him for what we know him for."
