Chapter 17

Dipper ended up to, partially, (attention, only partially), accept the truth. That does not mean things were any easier for him. He still had no idea of who he was, and started doubting mostly everything. At least, even in the middle of the mess he was living, he was back to talking to Mabel.

Mabel, on another side, was doing her very best in trying to pull her brother out of the mess she had helped create. She knew it wasn't her fault. She knew she had done everything possible to protect him, but still, a part of her fetl the blame for not being able to hide it all for longer, or as she inteded, forever.

Gladly, things hadn't remained awkward for much longer. It was one of the biggest advantages of having a sibling as a best friend. It does not matter what happens, things always silently come to place, with no need to say any other word. Although, Dipper's desperate need to rely on the only thing he knew was real about his past, and his life, did help, a lot, the process.

The twins were sitting, drinking their own milk-shakes, with no awkward silence among them. But, none wanting to talk about what had happened just a few weeks ago.

"Was it too weird when you first saw him? Your neighbor," Mabel asked smiling.

"Uh. Not sure. I guess not," Dipper shrugged, "I'm not sure what my expectations were... Or even if I had any"

"You didn't think he'd actually be cute, did you?" She giggled. "He sounds weird, and is kind of weird, and weird boys aren't usually cute"

"I'm pretty much a weirdo," he commented, pretending to be offended, while watching his sister laugh even harder.

"Well, lucky you, you found yourself a weirdo who is also cute," she said, whilst her attention was back to the chocolate milk-shake.

Her brother stared at her, blinking silently for a few moments. "What does that mean?"

"What?"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"I mean, you have a crush on him, right?" Mabel hesitantly spoke.

"I what?" He shook his head, not being able to hide his laugh. "What? Of course not!"

"Come on, I'm never wrong about these type of thing," she grinned, "Remember how I figure you liked that boy at school when we were thirteen?"

"How can I forget, right?" Dipper sighed, remembering those awful moments. "And then, you pretty much pushed me out of the closet to the entire family"

"We all knew it already, it was no big deal," she shrugged.

"It was for me"

"The point is that I wasn't wrong, was I?" The girl quickly changed the subject, realizing her brother was still mad about the event. She didn't blame him though. She'd have been a lot angrier if it had happened to her. Mabel had to admit, she always knew her brother was a better person than she could ever even aspire to be.

"You think I have a crush for my weird neighbor, Mabel. Sorry, but this time you got it wrong," he chuckled, shaking his head calmly, "He's nice, and cute, but no. Not gonna happen, sorry to ruin your dreams"

"Don't you want to ask me why I think so?" She insisted hopeful.

"No, but you clearly want to say why, so just go ahead and say it"

"I don't have a concrete point, but I have my intuition. And a sister's intuition is never wrong!" She made a pause thinking, "Maybe I don't have any proves about you having a crush on him, it's just an impression. But he definitely has a crush on you"

"Oh my God, Mabel, stop!" Dipper laughed even more. "He doesn't"

"He worries too much about you," she whispered.

"He's my friend, is basically his job, ok?"

"But there's the way he looks at you...," she smirked, "Come on, he totally has a crush on you. Just think about it, you'll realize it too"

"Ok, you're crazy," he giggled, standing up, "I have to go now"

"Wanna a ride home?" Mabel asked, grabbing her cat purse.
