CONNECTIONS WITH ROYALS

Zorcyr sat in his seat, resting his head in his left hand, a glass in his right as he looked around the ballroom in complete boredom, he had no intention of actually attending the ball, but he decided to come along for his mother's sake, even going as far as dressing his utmost best. A white suit coat tail with bright blue edges underneath the coat he wore a black collared shirt, blue vest, white tie and white dress pants with black dress shoes.

Earlier that day-

"I see you decided to spectate me today besides swimming around digging holes." Zorcyr said as he looked out the window at his friend; a dark blue orca beast, two additional fins on its back as it smiled at the prince. "Try not to make me lose focus Zyklo." Zorcyr said as he looked at the door, watching as two maids had walked in holding 2 buckets each. "I thought I said I didn't require your help."

"We're aware of your request. However, we acted on our own. It is your birthday after all, we don't want to see you stressing yourself out." One of the maids said as they both stood at a distance bowing to him. The prince stared at them for a little longer before looking away from them as Zyklo swam away for a while. "It will be a busy day. I suggest you and others not worry about me and focus more on yourselves. There will be a lot of people here, meaning a lot of work to be done." The maids looked at each other then nodded to the prince before taking their leave. Once they closed the door they both sighed in relief. "I thought we were goners there." One maid said, the two of them then resting their ears to the door as they heard music. They opened the door at a crack to see the prince, guiding the water out the buckets with his trident in a dance-like manner as music played. "I still don't see how someone as beautiful as him, grew up with no expressions, seriously." One whispered. As the prince continued to dance, even with his eyes closed he knew what he was doing, even as he stopped; hitting the bottom of his trident onto the floor as the water separated into shards of ice, launching at the door causing the maids to yelp and run off. Zorcyr sighed as he guided the water back into the buckets.

"Zorcyr, cheer up, loosen up a lil." Zorcyr glanced over at his mother. She had her trident on her back as she lifted her emerald dress as she stepped up to sit in her throne on Zorcyr's left. "What was on that invitation?" Mave looked at Zorcyr. "What do you mean hun? It's just a birthday invitation." Mave followed her son's gaze, looking at the few princesses' that looked up at the thrones, more so up at Zorcyr, as Mave looked on more, she realized they all had fans, and held them in different ways.

Carrying it open in their left hand

Touching the fan tip with their finger

Carrying in their left hand in front their face

Carrying in their right hand in front their face

Mave gritted her teeth. "That damn uncle of yours just won't stop his shenanigans. Where is he?!-'' Zorcyr let out a hum, Mave turned to him, watching as he began drinking from his glass but also using his index finger to point to his right where sure enough Irving was happily chatting with the Tiefling King, Cado. "Excuse me." The mother turned to the soft and cheerful voice. "Oh, you're Lilith Highreaver... and .. Azada Highreaver." The little sister giggled as her older sister placed her right hand on her heart and lowered her head. "On behalf of my family we thank you again for the invitation to the Prince's birthday." Zorcyr, who at this time had finished his drink, turned to look at the two Highreaver princesses, as Azada raised her head, she glanced over at the Prince, catching the twitch in his right eye as they made eye-contact. Lilith wore a yellow dress with puffed short sleeves and semi-sweetheart neckline, below the waist the dress widened and layered with little patterns of white. Her sister wore a black dress with the top of her shoulders uncovered, but covered the sides and flowed down into a delicate Queen Anne neckline. Below the waist matched her little sister's but with bright purple patterns from the top of the dress to the bottom. Lilith had her pet owl on her shoulder while Azada had a large white snake wrapped around her waist and her right arm, its head resting beside hers. Zorcyr found himself lowering his gaze at her hands, surprised to see no fan.

'As expected from a Highreaver like her. I suppose it's TRUE about her engagement.'

"We're happy that your family is enjoying the ball. I worked hard to make this day special for Zorcyr." Mave said as she smiled behind her hand, later looking at Lilith in worry as she held out a flower crown to the prince who looked up at her from his throne. "I couldn't think of a proper gift for you so I made you and your mother these flower crowns! Azada helped me with them!" Lilith cheered before looking at Zorcyr's head. "Ah, now that I think about it, I didn't think you'd be wearing a crown, no worries-"

Before she could finish, Zorcyr gently took the flower crown from her hands, it was made with white and cyan roses. Removing his crown, he placed the gift on his head, fitting his crown on afterwards so as to not damage the flowers. Lilith squealed before hugging him. "I'm so glad you like it! The flowers were from Azy's garden, she takes good care of her garden, these flowers will last a long time!!" Lilith ranted as Zorcyr glanced over at Azada who helped Mave place a flower crown of her own on. After calming down, Lilith then said goodbye to the prince and his mother as she grabbed her sister's arm skipping away. "Well, isn't she a lovely girl?" Mave asked with a smile, turning to her son. Zorcyr watched as the sisters walked off into the crowd, feeling eyes on him as he turned to his mother. Even though her eyes were always covered by her hair, her lips gave away her expression as she smirked at him. "What is it now?-"

"You seem happier now. Maybe even...delighted to be here now? Hmmmm?" Mave said as she leaned onto her son's shoulder. Zorcyr sighed, gently removing his mother from his side as he stood up. "Don't be ridiculous."

"Azada tickles your fancy?-"

"Mother, I'm happy how I am, and please. She's engaged is she not."

"Eh, not anymore... Zorcyr.." Mave spoke softly.

Orion stood by his grandfather and mother, sharing glances with the tiefling male who clung to his arm as they looked around the ballroom. As Yarmon and his daughter talked to Cado and a few other people, Orion leaned down to the tiefling "I know it's your first ball but please, calm down. It's not that bad Cali." Cali looked up at him before hugging his arm tighter. "Cali, you need to calm down sweetie." Orion's mother Lyra said as she patted the male's shoulder, later grinning as Azada and Lilith walked over to them. "There you two are! Did you give Lady Mave and Prince Zorcyr their gifts?" Lilith nodded her head before cheering and hugging Cali who seemed to calm down more.

"Ah, Lady Azada, it's a pleasure to see you again. It's been quite a long time since we spoke." Cado said as he walked up to the princess, taking her hand. "Oh, you don't have a fan I see. I suppose the prince doesn't interest you in any way." Azada gave a small smile as she took her hand from the King. "I will say he's a beautiful individual, however I have no interest in arrangements or anything of the sort." Orion stood next to his sister, silently rubbing her back to comfort her. "Ah, right. How about we change the subject-"

"Hey look!! I think they're getting ready to start dancing!!" Lilith said as she pointed to the center of the room. Orion turned to Cali with a smile, in an instant he was dragged by the tiefling. "Azada." The girl flinched as the familiar and sickening voice called her name. Turning around with a glare, a human male with black hair and red eyes smirked at her as he held his hand out. "Can we put our differences behind us and enjoy a night of dancing together-"

"Not a chance buddy." Azada looked behind the male to see her sister Roshia and the red dragonborn giving the male a glare. "Ah, Dyzar and Roshia, I haven't seen you two-"

"Cut the bullshit. Azada's not dancing, speaking or even shouldn't be within distance to you. Not after the stunt you pulled Maverick."

"I believe that is her choice, not yours, fire breather." Cado pulled Azada close to him as he glared at the prince of the Wolfstride family. "Excuse me." The group turned to the voice, Maverick turning to the person in slight fear. Zorcyr glared at him before turning to Azada. "The dances, as my mother told me, won't start until I start dancing.. so.." Azada watched as he held a hand out to her, raising an eyebrow at him before taking it, looking back at her family, all of their faces in pure shock, Maverick with anger written on his face and Cado with a disappointed look on his face. "The wolfstride brat? Honestly, what did you see in him?" Zorcyr said as he finally made it to the center of the dancers. "Nothing, it was an arrangement." Azada said. Mave looked at the two with a smile. "Tch, he can look at a girl he just met in the eyes and not even his own uncle." Irving grumbled.

Azada looked at the ground , folding her arms as her finger was to her lip in thought as Zorcyr stared at her, later glancing to the side at Maverick who decided to dance with Nireta. With a sigh, Zorcyr used his finger to lift her chin up. His eyes widened a bit as he saw the snarl on Azada's face as she gripped his arm, her bright purple eyes glaring daggers into him. "..Isn't that expression interesting to see on someone like you." Azada calmed down as she placed her left arm on his shoulder, holding onto his left hand with her right as she started guiding him into a dance.

"Isn't the male supposed to start it?" Zorcyr asked. "It doesn't always have to be, why not change the rules a bit? Hmm?" The innocent look on Azada's face caught Zorcyr off guard, even if it wasn't shown, he felt the sides of his lips curl into a smirk as he danced with the elven princess. "I'll be honest, you have my interest. Perhaps an alliance between our families will help each other. You'll never know when one of these arrogant bastards will try their hand at a fight, war more likely."

"Power hungry, no wonder your uncle also put in the invitation. It was a sort of arrangement involved as well."

"He needs to understand, that I don't need-"

"A wife to be king? I can see where you're coming from, but, even though you don't need a wife. A few companions would be smart to have before or during the time of your role. Don't you think? " Azada asked with a small smile, glancing over at Orion and Roshia who were dancing with their lovers. As the music ended, Azada curtsied to the prince before walking away, looking back as he grabbed her wrist, pulling her back. "I'll admit, I enjoyed myself dancing with you." Azada giggled at him. "Hopefully a sparring match will be more enjoyable."

"I bet it will. Would you like another dance? I'm sure you wouldn't want to dance with Maverick and Cado."

"You have a point. One more dance won't hurt."

"Why one more when we can go all night?"

"Can you really keep up with me?"

"Try me Princess."
