Starry nights, murders, and and old alliance.
Starry nights, murders and an old alliance.
"You show a girl a few mediocre paintings, whine about your childhood, and I swoon and spill all my dirty secrets?"- Hayley Marshall miakelson. (okay technically she's not married to Klaus or related to the family but she's a damn mikaelson cause have you seen her? Everything she's ever done is for hope and her family. She's as much as a part of the family as Klaus. Hayley Marshall is a absolute legend.)
"Caroline what they heck is happening?!" Raven questioned her as Caroline lead the way. Caroline was walking to her left from the passageway, searching for someone.
"Raven we still need the Martyr don't me?" Kai added as he focused on the tornado that contained Sebastian.
"If she's still alive?" Raven answered bluntly but then kai stopped in his tracks and looked at her in surprise.
"Excuse me?"
"You think we're the only ones with poisoned daggers? Assuming it didn't hit her hard she could be alive but who knows what poison they were using," Raven added as the passageway came to a sudden stop. There was red door that didn't match with the caves looks. Every other door they passed was blended in to look like a part of the cave. There was some water falling from the roof and the rocky surface stopped inches away from the door to be replaced with white marble.
"She'll be fine. We just need to find her first," Caroline replied sharply as she slammed opened the door to reveal a plain room. Absolutely nothing worth their while was in it. It looked like just a plain room that was empty but Nora then stepped in front of Caroline. She cautiously entered the room, her eyes examining it the best they could. Nora then looked at the small markings near the door and bent down to press them.
As soon as she pressed them the whole room started to shake. The marble floor that Caroline was standing on turned back into stone as the room's holograms stopped projecting it to make it seem like a plain room. When the holograms stopped displaying themselves, the real room turned out to actually contain a passageway. Nora moved aside to let Caroline and the others enter.
"If we find Jessica at the end of the passageway then these crescent pack suckers are even more stupid then I'd have imagined," Nora stated as they started to walk down the narrow and barely lit passage. Without the holograms making the room Look bigger and hiding the passageway, it was a pretty dusty place. As if no one had been there since centuries.
It was thankfully a short passageway that ended to another door. This door was plain, just like the others before it. Caroline tried to open the door but it didn't bulge. She wasn't surprised at that though. She took a step back and then went for the door. She straight up ran to the door and kicked it open.
"Someone's angry," Kai added as Caroline kept on trying to kick open the locked door. Caroline was mad, she was angry and as she took another step back to kick the door again with all of her force the door opened from the other side.
Jessica had opened the door. She acted fine, she didn't say anything. She just walked out of the room to the passageway and closed the door behind her. She had an emotionless face on and she had tried to hide the scratch from the dagger by pulling her sleeve down.
"We're heading towards the exit. Nora hacked into the system in the main core room. Let's leave before the system's shut down," Caroline tried to make Jessica understand about what was happening at the moment.
Jessica gave a quick nod and Caroline started to walk back. They left the passageway to the red door and then left it as they hurried towards the opposite direction from where Jessica came from.
After running for a while, they finally spotted it. They had come to a sudden halt in front of a wall and Nora stretched her fingers as she walked towards the wall and pressed a small white line on the rocky surface of it. After pressing the line, a hologram showed up with showed them the setting of the wall. Nora moved some holographic images and some words and then the wall split in half and opened.
A fresh breeze of air hit them. The forest felt magical as in the night time every step they took had a dangerous and terrifying feel to it, now everything looked warm and the fresh breezes just gave more to its feel.
Jessica was honestly mesmerized by how easily it changed. By how in some hours everything would become dark again to just go back to the morning. If it was her choice then she'd choose to stay frozen in that moment for how ever long she wanted but it wasn't. They had to move.
The group stated to move. As soon as they stepped out of the cave into the orange looking forest the wall behind them closed. Jessica left out a breath that she didn't even know that she was holding in. Then she noticed that Sebastian was in a tornado that was being controlled by Kai.
"What happened to him?" Jessica looked at her side to kai, asking him the question with a look of worry.
"Oh nothing much, Raven just crashed a meteor into the wall he was against. It happens every other day," kai answered Jessica with sarcasm as he looked at raven in a upset and tired face.
"She can control meteors?" Nora questioned with a surprised look.
"I don't control meteors, I search the cosmos for meteors that are flying by earth and then search through them for any intergalactic alien forms. If there are none and then I make them crash. So basically, I just search for meteors," Raven applauded for herself. She had no reason to be humble, she took pride in her work.
"Anyone else wants to take turns explaining stuff to whoever she is? Let's leave. Raven, do us a favor and give him some of your blood. He'll heal and then kai doesn't have to keep in check of a tornado," Caroline ended their chat but she did receive a stink eye from Nora for forgetting her name.
"Vervain. I am not losing my blood when I can't heal. We can find water by some stream and he'll get up. I'll do what I have to do and we'll just reach home." Raven had the last word as they began to walk in speed again.
They remained silent for the whole walk. The cave was obviously in the same forest as raven remembered their location and if they continued in the same direction they could find that all again.
But suddenly Nora came to a stop as she looked at Caroline.
"Wait a minute, you can make water right? Or whatever you do with your hands. Why are we walking towards the stream then? Wait are we going back to the wall!?" Nora questioned with surprise. She was feeling lightheaded and started to understand what was happening.
"Look, I'll give you some money that'll last for some months. I don't have a place to offer you," Caroline tried to make Nora understand.
"Excuse me? A deal is a deal. I don't care whether you live a chateau or a cottage, I need a place to be for some days and our deal was that I tell you about Eleanor and you give me a place to live for some days," Nora questioned her as Caroline just groaned and started to walk again. Nora had a annoyed expression on her as she tried to catch up with Caroline.
"I think I made my wishes clear?"
Caroline groaned as she stopped and raven sighed as she stopped as well.
"You can come with us for a few days only. A little tip from my side, lock your door. I haven't eaten in days and I am starving," Raven added as Nora fake cheered and they continued walking for a while.
"So let me get this straight, Caroline can't do her water thing because she's to tired and someone might notice, we have a guy who can make tornados and a guy is in a tornado and the brown haired girl apparently has selective muteness?" Nora asked them with ease, as if she was narrating them Something. They were now in the middle of the forest again. They looked around for the statue which could have been an indication for the stream.
"I do not have selective or any kind of muteness. I just don't see the reason why I should keep talking to you for absolutely no reason," Jessica told her as she looked around, searching for the statue of the woman. It had been like the statue wasn't visible in broad daylight.
"What she means is yes for everything expect the mute part," Raven tried to walk into the conversation as she searched around for any sign of water. It was clear that Caroline wouldn't use her powers now, not after what had happened.
Jessica felt tired. She felt just exhausted from what she had done but that wasn't it. There was a nagging feeling in her gut that just made Jessica feel crazy. She didn't know what it was, she didn't know how to make it go but she knew that she wasn't going to have a outburst over there.
She stood there, just thinking about where she was and what were the things that were just suddenly happening. She looked at the silver looking necklace on her neck and she held it as she went deep into her thoughts.
She remembered the time where Mary was teaching her about emotions. It felt like she was back at her home, just taking to Mary and wandering off. In her flashback, she was in her mansions living room where Mary had first taught her about her feelings and how to make sure that she was in control of them.
Just remembering it put a smile on her face that was followed by a chuckle. She then opened her eyes again and let go of her necklace and began to walk again. But instead of searching in the path they were taking, she went onto the right side of it and began to search for a river on that side.
She wandered off a bit but as she noticed the mud on the ground she knew that she was close. The group were following her and they seemed to notice the mud as well as they nodded and paced further right.
There it was. The river. It was glistening and looked like it was made of glass. The ground around it was covered with grass and small flowers that looked like they were made of silk. Jessica went near the river, waiting for the group to reach her. They weren't that far from her so they reached fast and kai gave out a long sigh as he put Sebastian down from the tornado.
"Now what? We drown him and he magically wakes up?" Caroline asked with sarcasm as she stepped towards Sebastian. Sebastian was lying on the ground, near to the river.
"Really enjoying your sarcasm Caroline. Help me up before your actually think of drowning me will you?" Sebastian suddenly spoke as he opened his eyes and tried to get up.
"Tell me you weren't awake the whole time. Sebastian you idiot I swear I'm going to sacrifice you to a pagan god someday," Kai told Sebastian with a furious look and a groan as he helped him to get up.
"feisty. I got up in the middle and think of this as Revenge for- ah," Sebastian would have continued if he didn't reach his shoulder with his right hand as he felt a sharp pain on that area. He looked over to his shoulder which was partially visible as his shirt was torn at that area. It looked bruised and he tried reaching it from his arm but he couldn't.
"Hey what's wrong?" Jessica asked him as she stepped towards him. He was sitting against a tree that was next to the river.
"I'm fine. I just have a bruise from the time I feel in the mud," He told her as he tried to get up on his own but couldn't do it. Jessica looked at raven but raven couldn't give her blood to Sebastian at the time.
"We're almost there, we just need to find the wall and we can get help," Nora added, she was trying to help them.
"She's right. We can go back home and we'll help him over there. He'll last for fifteen more minutes right?" Jessica declared as she sat next to Sebastian to get a look at the bruise. If it was from the night before then there was a chance it could be infected and that wasn't something that would help them at the time.
She would have asked him to move but he looked like he was in pain so she decided that she'd take a look at the bruise back home. Raven looked at kai and it was as if they had some sort of connection through their minds as kai immediately took a few steps back and started to create multiple tornadoes. He made four tornados, just how many he could control at the same time without making them go ravage.
"Sebastian, Jessica, Caroline and the girl beside her, get in the tornadoes," Kai ordered as he created tornadoes. Nora have a awkward laugh and looked at Caroline, hoping that she wasn't serious but Caroline didn't respond. Nora just threw her hands up in the air and walked straight in the tornado after that, like she has just given up in her sanity.
"You'll wear yourself out! How will you get back home? You're already tired," Raven questioned kai as Jessica and Caroline helped Sebastian get into a tornado. They then got into tornadoes which started to move in the right way finally. Kai was controlling them from where he stood, he looked tired but if he got them to the other side of the wall then he could walk back.
"I'll walk," Kai tried to convince raven as he tried to conjure up another tornado for raven. The tornadoes where incredibly fast and they covered the distance in a minute. He stopped the tornadoes when he felt like they were directly in front of the wall. It was a connection, he had a connection to wind.
As soon as kai left making the tornadoes, he looked like he was starved. He took deep breaths and started to feel light headed when raven came to his side and put her arm around him as she helped him walk to the tree.
"And get killed by a killer rabbit? Stop wearing yourself out. Your powerful but also weak at the moment," Raven tried to convince him as he sat down against the tree, his raven black hair all messy and looking like a bird's nest.
"Stop worrying about me. You're on vervain. The last time you were on vervain you swore that it felt like your nerves and veins were sandpaper. I'll make another tornado and you can get to the town," He told her as he closed his eyes and tried to catch his breath. Raven didn't reply, she waited for him to feel calm again and then she got up with him. Her arm still around him.
"Sandpaper never irritated me. Hold on tight." Raven finished as kai looked surprised and curious with the reason for raven telling him something like that. Kai was about to ask her why when she started to run, using her vampire powers. She had super speed and even though it took up a lot of her energy she wasn't going to attend a funeral of kai as he died from a rabbit.
"What do you mean by you don't drink water?" Jessica asked Nora in the living room of the group's mansion. They had blindfolded Nora as they took her to their home and had many doubts about her. They thought that after Raven was back they'd just wipe her memories but until then they'd have to keep her alive.
"I just don't like it's taste. Don't you guys have those water bubble things?" Nora asked her as she went towards the couch.
"Would you like some lobster and caviar with that my lady?" Caroline asked her.
"I would love that but not today my dear servant," Nora replied with a fake smile. She was worried and nervous on the inside but she couldn't care less about it she'd make it out alive.
"Okay let's get some rules set. Caroline, she's your responsibility. You are in charge of her. She's sleeping in your room and she'll be gone in a week. Any problems?" Jessica added in the conversation. She was a natural rule maker, she found rules thrilling, granted she only found the rules she made thrilling.
"Yeah I get it. She'll be gone in a week and until then I'm going to monitor everything she does to make sure that she doesn't kill us," Caroline told her with a straight face as she wiped the dust of her clothes.
"Follow me. I have a couch in my room and just don't trouble me." Caroline ended the conversation as she walked out of the room with Nora following her. Jessica had already helped Sebastian to his room after they cleaned his bruise and gave him some pain meds. Jessica didn't have anything to do.
She looked around the room, getting the atmosphere of it in. The couch was plain but it's armrests were full of scratches and tear marks, indicating that it was old. She sat on the couch and as she laid down on it she realized that it was a rotatable couch. She turned around in it and stopped after understanding that a 17 year old having fun on a couch wasn't exactly the best thing to go by.
She felt something on the armrest of it. She touched it to find out that it was a strip. She pressed a button that opened a holographic presentation of the room and it's features. The blue holographic screen in front of her looked like it was programmed to make her use it.
She pressed the replace table strip, thinking that maybe it would put another table in its place but instead the wall that the table was behind opened and the table went in. Seconds later, the wall closed and opened again to put a fireplace instead of it.
As soon as the fireplace entered the room, it was as if the rooms atmosphere changed. The fire lit up and it gave out a warm glow to the room. The plain room now looked like it was lit by candles and the she didn't even notice that a cup of hot chocolate had arrived on the couches armrest.
She enjoyed that feeling. The mansion that she used to live in with Mary had the same type of atmosphere but somehow it was different. There were no couches that could spin and no walls could open but there was a fireplace and a old red leather chair that Mary used to sit on.
That room was probably Jessica's favorite in the mansion. Mary used to teach her everything in it, she used to give Jessica lessons about the mind and the heart and Mary had told her stories about her friends from before.
She didn't realize how much she missed Mary. She snapped out of her little nostalgic trance and then saw how weak she had become. She was defeated by a group of people without power's, she was defeated by some people who were crazy. The paranoia started to kick in. She looked around and saw how weak the mansion was. She hadn't trained in days and she definitely wasn't prepared for another physical attack.
"Do these people even have a training room? Or anything to defend ourselves? I am so stupid," She said out loud to herself as she put her hand on her forehead and thought about the ways she could have been better in that fight.
"You aren't stupid, you are just not that prepared and you haven't even heard the full story yet," a voice spoke. Jessica looked around to see if there was anyone there. She turned and when she faced the fireplace again, she saw someone.
Mary stood by the side of the fireplace. Mary had let her brown roots grow back again and her blackish brown eyes looked real. She was in a gray shirt and some jeans, she was standing with her arms crossed.
"Mary? How did you get here?" Jessica asked her in relief as she immediately stood up to go hug her but as she went towards her and tried to touch her, she couldn't. Her hand went right through Mary and for a split second she thought that it was her ghost.
"Not your ghost, your subconscious. Now get back on the couch as we have some talking to do," Jessica's subconscious that looked like Mary told Jessica as Jessica just nodded and went back to her seat.
"Excuse me? Why would my subconscious be you? Isn't that supposed to be me or something?" Jessica asked her in surprise.
"The mind works in different ways. Your subconscious is supposed to be something that knows what's right and knows exactly how your feeling. See, I basically described Mary," Subconscious Mary answered as it paced around the room.
"I'm probably still dehydrated, that's why I'm seeing you," Jessica desperately tried to come up with an explanation.
"I'm your subconscious, you can't lie to me. I'm not here for chit chat, this is important," It told her as it walked towards her.
"Listen to me very carefully. Chase your feelings to the road and then drive with your head. Mary had said this to you when you were still a baby and since I'm your subconscious, I can tell that to you but only if you remember some parts of it. Do you remember feeling a sharp pain in your neck that one day when you found a picture of a man?" The subconscious tried to help. It kneeled and sat down in front of Jessica, explaining and trying to help her.
"I don't remember a picture but I remember feeling that sharp pain in my neck. It was snowing outside and Mary was checking out the servers?" Jessica answered with doubt.
"Yeah exactly. That man is called Alex Acosta. Chase your feelings to the road and then drive with your head." It told her as it stood up and started to fade away.
"Hey, wait! Where do I find him? Will you be back? This wasn't helpful! Wait," Jessica tried to hold on to that but it had disappeared. What did that even mean? She had so many questions in her head. She was about to sit back down when she heard a noise. She turned her back to the fireplace and faced the door.
"You do know that there's no one else in the room and that you had a full conversation with yourself right?" Sebastian spoke up to her. He was standing right at the entrance of the door, with a blue shirt on and some plain pants. He had a sprain bandage around his left arm and his hair looked messy.
"Yes, I knew that. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be asleep?" Jessica questioned him as she walked towards him.
"I should be, but when was the last time any one of us were doing something that we were," Sebastien paused and did the quote on quote expression with his hands as he said "Supposed to" and ended with "be doing,"
"Your right. I should be training. Where do you guys train?" Jessica asked him as she leaned against the door.
"like we'll use the training room filled with weapons while that Nora girl is still here. It's to dangerous so think of it as a day off," Sebastian tried to convince her.
"So I'm just supposed to be doing no training at all? You do understand the fact that we got beaten by a bunch of crazy lunatics while we had actual powers?" Jessica questioned him again with a chuckle.
"You can just train on the stairs. You know, run up and down of it I guess," He replied and moved aside to let her out but as she was about to step out of the room, he sharply blocked it again.
"Or we could watch the meteor shower? It'll start in let's say fifteen minutes and some well needed rest never hurt anyone," He added suddenly to which Jessica laughed.
"What's so funny?" he asked her with a grin to which she didn't respond but continued to laugh.
"Of course, it's not like I fell out of a literal tornado that I didn't want to ride but still did because someone decided to criticize me- he would have continued if Jessica hadn't interrupted his attempt at tricking her into having fun.
-You get to use the guilt card once. Where are we watching it?" she finished while holding up her index finger and whispered "once" again.
"In the middle of a remote field, laying of damp grass for some reason," he told her with a straight face to which she understood the joke.
"Never thought that you were the one to read some sappy romantic books. We're watching it on the front porch or the terrace," She cleared the confusion that didn't exist in the first place.
"I knew that, it was a jok- Yeah let's watch it on the terrace." He finished the conversation and moved aside. They went up the stairs to the last floor to open a door that led to the roof.
Cold. That would be the word that she'd use to describe the terrace. It had an uneven surface and was fully empty expect for some empty bottles of alcohol laying on the floor and two leaned chairs in the middle. The chair's were beige and had really tiny armrests but Jessica couldn't care less about the chair's, what she was interested in was the meteor shower.
She realized that the day had gone by very quickly. They had spent half the day in the cave and walking to the town, the other half was spent in establishing the rules and just sitting around the mansion. But all her thoughts vanished when she sat on the chair and looked at the blue night sky.
It was marvelous. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky to cover those beautiful stars. Some were incredibly small yet gave out a sharp glow while some were bigger then the biggest stars she'd had ever seen. She could feel a cold breeze hit her as she looked at the waxing crescent moon.
The night sky had its one shine as well. There was something about it that made her want to never stop looking at it. Sebastian sat on the chair next to her in silence, understanding that she was calm and didn't want to speak. The meteor shower started soon and Sebastian finally decided to tell her something.
"The Crescent pack harness energy. They were taking our energy as soon as they saw us and it's a miracle we lasted as long as we did. You did great and you need to remember that." He ended their conversation after she looked at him with a small understanding smile that said that she got it. Somehow, just looking at those stars calmed her down and made her forget about her feelings.
"Where the hell did you get that necklace from!?" Mary asked Julian again with anger as she held him pinned against a wall with a knife against his throat.
"I swear to god it was on the ground!" he pleaded as he shut his eyes and Mary tied his arms to a rope and connected that rope to a chain. She heard some footsteps after that and suddenly there one of Julian's follower was in the room. His follower went for Mary to which he gave a sharp turn and immediately had her arm around his neck. She would have snapped his neck in a matter of seconds if it weren't for someone to grab her arms from behind.
She looked at who it was and moved her arms, trying to escape. He pulled her closer to which she hit her head against his and escaped. He was about to hit back when he saw that Julian's follower was about to get back up again. He then quickly walked towards him and held him against the wall as he stabbed a dagger into his neck. The dagger hit that guys carotid artery and that resulted in a bit of a explosion of blood into the other guys coat.
"I think we had a pact to not act like total savages?" he asked her as wiped some blood of his coat and lent her the dagger.
"Then you obviously think absolute rubbish. You've gotten weak my old friend," Mary replied with a smirk.
"I am more educated in the field of torture then you are so I know not of what type of rubbish you speak of," he replied with a huff as he took out a handkerchief from his pocket and lent it to Mary.
"I missed your fake accent a lot Elliott, probably more then you. Now, are we actually going to kill some idiots and find her or should we continue with this pickpocket?" She questioned as she took the handkerchief. She wiped off the blood from her face and gray shirt and some blood of her hands as she walked towards Julian with a cup and her knife.
"Agree to torture him and then kill him?" he replied with a question to which Mary chuckled and nodded as she threw him the handkerchief. Mary was raised to kill people and she quite enjoyed good fights but nowadays the most fights she was getting In were about eating healthier. She missed getting her steam out and sometimes people just want to let the hell go and help the world burn.
Long, 1K special note:
So, for the 1K special I wanted to do something personal as this book is something that grown very personal to me. Every emotion I've written about is something I've experienced and there's this one emotion that I didn't know how to write about though. That's because I had never felt it for real. Love.
Luckily I can write some things about love or just liking someone because I like someone. I don't know how to explain it, it's this burning feeling that makes you smile and just fills you with this urge to be with them. In the past few months, this app has been my home and I met this really beautiful, kinda shabby and absolutely wonderful person who's been with me and this book in all the hard times.
So, think of this as my confession to that girl who shall not be named incase she hates me and thinks of me as a friend. I like you. If your reading this and I know that you are and if you just like me then I Just needed to tell you this because if your not living life on the edge then your just taking up to much space.
-Sighs- Now that we've got the personal part out, let's talk about this book. So I thought of the things I'm good at and one of them was making aesthetics. Well I then made some aesthetics for some people in my life that I value a lot. And then I made some aesthetics for that one reader who likes reading this. Thank you, for reading this, for valuing this book and maybe liking it. If you read this and want a aesthetic for yourself then just PM me and I'll make one Specifically for you. I unfortunately can't Publish the aesthetics now as wattpad is acting up but I'll have them tomorrow. Now, thank you so much for reading this long Chapter and I loved writing this, especially Mary's part. I imagine Mary as Phoebe Tonkin just so you know. Again, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this <3
