The family reunion left only the father of the Park family missing. The three brothers and their mother reunited in the living room of the middle son who had not been expecting them. Jimin was shocked by their presences that he was unsure of how to treat their visit. One thing he did know was was that they weren't there for a cup of tea to catch up in the best way possible.
"Jiminie, baby you look scared." Mrs.Park said with a genuine concern. "Come sit with us."
The son shook his head. He snapped back into some motion when he turned to Taehyung and asked a favor of him. The knife which Taehyung was gripping to tightly was put into Jimin's hands. He then wished his friend luck and took Sohyun to join him at the bottom of the stairs so to keep an eye out for any other intruders.
"Didn't we tell you to keep away from Junhong?"
Jihyun was now standing by the window, looking around at isolated street. He looked to his brother with a tired face and a scratch on his cheek that hadn't been there the last time they saw each other.
"Let's just say I didn't have a choice."
Jimin's eyes dropped to his older brother who was sitting very still with his legs crossed and hands on his knees. He looked too professional for the situation they were in. He was a trespasser who appeared to judge the appearance of the apartment he had broken into. Looking into the judgmental eyes of his brother made for Jimin to light up.
"What the hell are you all doing here? Don't you know Yoongi could have blown your brains out if he would have caught you?"
"Caught us?" Junghong scoffed. "How's he going to catch us when he's not even in town?"
"How do you--"
"We have eyes everywhere in this town, Jimbles." Mrs.Park said as she stood to be at her son's side. "Someone saw him being escorted to the edge of the town. You need to be more careful, Jimbles. You're no longer a seventeen year old whose cannibal of a boyfriend will always be there to protect you."
Jimin raised an eyebrow at the woman as she so freely put her hands in his hair and sorted the messy strands on his face. She really believed he was not capable of defending himself or his home. Offended her claim, he moved away from her and gripped Taehyung's knife harder.
"What are doing here?"
Junghong stood and fixed the collar of his dress shirt. He pointed to Jihyun, more specifically to where he had been wounded.
"That is why we're here. Our little brother was shot--"
"My little brother was shot." Jimin corrected him. "He's my little brother."
"Now, Jimbles you are all brothers." Mrs.Park said in a knowingly tone. "Jihyun is both your little brother. Accept it already."
Jimin tried his hardest not to glare at his mother. He kept his eyes to the ground for a second before meeting Junghong's so to tell him to continue his explanation.
"Our father had officially decided he wishes for one side to exist at the cost of another. He does not care that the sides tear each other apart. The bunnies have been made to take their hands of the steering wheel and let the course run itself. We came to warn you Jimin."
The warning was something which Jimin had already figured out on his own. In the past hours he had been choked, escape the grasp of two bunnies, and rescue his friend who had been held hostage. He was well aware that the control systems that had been implemented before were completely on shut down now. He wanted to point out how much more collected his side had been, but given Jihyun was in the room that could cause an argument that could lead to something more physical.
"What do you expect me to do now?" Jimin asked as he genuinely felt lost by his explanation. "You've come here to tell me what we all already know? What am I suppose to do with a grim reminder?"
"You're suppose to prepare." Jihyun said. "Let everyone know that the final choosing is coming so to fight as hard as they can if they want to continue this."
Junghong nodded his head in agreement. "Tell your people now that the war of the sides are becoming much more intense. Those who wish to stay shall prepare themselves for what the throne has to offer and those who don't wish to know, to leave. Our father isn't dealing with wusses. Things are changing and the people will have to as well.
Jimin scoffed. He couldn't believe that he had been warned about an intrusive force by an intrusive force. He would have much rather have his father be sitting in his living room to tell him all this. He wanted not to see his mother or eldest brother. At the very moment he didn't even want to see Jihyun. He was mad at his whole blood family. His mother had left him to be with her other son and his brother was the cause of his friend leaving which also lead to his lover being gone.
"Is that all?" Jimin asked. "Anything else I should know about before I ask you all to leave?"
Jihyun turned his head back to the window and Junghong shook his head. Mrs. Park who had remained seated the entire time had done what she had the first time she visited the apartment. Her hands seemed to have found once again the picture frame which her son valued so dearly.
"I'll wait in the car."
Junghong left the three in a silence that was overbearingly uncomfortable. Jihyun seemed frozen by the windows for his eyes seemed stuck on the road below. Jimin on the other hand was standing awkwardly watching as his mother stared at the picture of him and his lover.
"I never really knew how I felt about you seeing him." Mrs.Park said. "I met his mother and to be quite honest with you I didn't like her. Maybe it was because she was so close to your father or her fierce personality, but she just didn't strike right with me."
"It doesn't matter." Jimin muttered. "You can't do anything about it... at least not now."
Mrs.Park looked up at her son and smiled sadly. "But I could have done something then, right? If I had just been the proper mother I could have stopped you from seeing him and just maybe we wouldn't find ourselves in such a situation. Just maybe we'd be a big happy family celebrating something so simple as being together."
"No wouldn't be." Jihyun spoke up at last. "If none of this would have happened you would have kept Junghong in the dark. I don't understand why you shunned him out. Your reasoning is not enough."
"No body gets left behind or forgotten."
Jimin recited the words that had been applied to only friends that had turned to family. Now he was using it for someone who was his blood yet never felt like family. He didn't like Junghong, but that didn't mean that he hadn't thought about what his life may have been after being separated from his real family. He must wondered why he had not been wanted by a mother and a father who cared for two children after having him, yet would not shelter him as they did to them. It was tragic to think and for that Jimin held some sympathy in his heart for his eldest brother. Junghong wasn't at fault for not being recognized as the eldest Park brother, his parents were.
"I did it to keep my son safe."
"You could have had him be safe at your side, you just chose not to. It's the same way like how you chose four years ago to leave us, your two other sons, to go care for another one. You don't know the first thing about keeping someone safe."
Mrs.Park glared up at her son. She stood and set the picture frame down on the table once more. She told Jimin to be well and have their heeding words in mind as he went on in his next few days. Then she left without a hug or a kiss to his cheek as a goodbye. All that was left were the two brothers.
"Do you know anything of my bunny?"
Jimin sighed as he threw himself down on the couch.
"He's not your bunny. He's not yours at all."
Jihyun nodded his head. "He is mine. He can't be no one else's."
"Hyunnie you're being delusional. It's over. He left because he doesn't want to be near you. It's hard pill to sallow, but just like everything else you'll have to. Leave him alone."
If this was anyone else they'd be talking about, Jimin would hate himself for talking so harshly to his brother. However, this was Jungkook who they were talking about. Jungkook was like a brother to Jimin which was why he couldn't stand by to see him get destroyed once more by his real brother. He wanted no more to see the face of a broken heart on either of their faces. He wanted Jungkook to be well and away from Jihyun's toxic self and him if it meant he could be happy.
"Yoongi's not the best for you yet here you are. Why are we any different?"
Taken back by the response, Jimin stayed silent. He knew Yoongi wasn't deserving of him or so he proved sometimes with his actions. They stayed together because there was love through the cracks and bruises in the relationship.
"Because I love him."
"Well, I love Jungkook . I want to make things right with him. I broke things off with who I was with." Jihyun said softly. The lump in his throat was clearly heard in his voice."I only want him."
Jimin could feel his brother's sadness since he once too had experience it. He walked to his side and tried comforting him as best as he could.
"Let's get through this and maybe you'll have another shot. Just maybe."
The words of slight encouragement put a small grin to Jihyun's face. He pulled his brother into a hug which lasted a little longer than Jimin had expected.
"I want that throne."
Jimin shook his head. "You're insane to think you can have it."
"Watch, I'll sit at the very top."
There was a moment in which Jimin wondered what it'd be like to dethrone his father and take over ruling such a dangerous business. He thought of the rules he could put and the ones he could rid of. He also thought of how impossible it would be to do such a thing yet he gave his brother the benefit of doubt.
"I'd like to see you try."
