Dustin whistled quietly to himself as he made his way down the sidewalk towards Middle Borough High School, his eyes trained on the ground as thoughts swirled round and round in his mind. He wasn't even quite sure what all the thoughts were...they were just...there.

Dustin's only hold on reality was the tune of the song he was singing, Dancing Queen: The Mama Mia Version.

One of the things Dustin was confidently positive he was fine at his whistling capabilities, it lifted his spirits and his worries, and nobody was around to judge him on it because it was six o'clock in the morning- hardly anyone actually woke up at five to get to school. However, Dustin likes to head to school early when he was stressed...it was better than staying cooped up in his room where the walls would talk and his mind would harmonize...outside there was air and endless sky and trees and morning doves cooing sweet little songs and-

"What're you whistling there, Dust?"

Dustin stiffened up as he heard someone whisper from the lawn next to him and he came to a grinding halt. He didn't want to look over because he recognized the voice, yet he had no choice. So, Dustin turned on his heel to the house to his left and saw none other than Jenna Rolland.

"Wh-what?" Dustin swallowed nervously as Jenna came prancing up to him.

"I said what'ch'ya whistling?"

"Oh um..." Dustin was fairly sure he didn't want to answer that, "Just...a song I heard on YouTube..." It wasn't a complete lie.

"Oh neat." Jenna nodded, pulling her phone out to post a status update that Dustin could see just beside him as Jenna stopped there.

Walk-in' to school early -Jen

Dustin bit his lip awkwardly as she continued to type.

"So? Are we going to walk to school or what?" Jenna looked up for an instant from her phone at Dustin before looking back down at the phone.

"So...?" Dustin put his hands in his pockets slowly.

"Ready to get to school or what?" Jenna smiled briefly.

"Oh- oh yeah!" Dustin nodded and began walking, Jenna following soon after.

Jenna stared down at her phone as she walked beside Dustin.

Dustin awkwardly twisted his hands in his pockets, not sure as to what to do or to say.

"What's your opinion on Chicken Nuggets? Trend or Bend?"

Trend or Bend? What does that mean? Dustin frowned, Well, I know what trend means so... "I say trend."

"Why's that?" Jenna continued to look at her phone.

Shit.
Dustin thought for moment.
Two things Dustin was quite proud of was 1. His ability to lie, and 2. His ability to use large words against small minded people...or sometimes just people in general.

Off to the war zone of 'lie your way out of this shit' Goodluck, Soilder.

"...Because I find it hard to...bend?" Dustin shrank down a little as he slipped his hands into his pockets.

Jenna didn't reply for a moment but then busted out laughing, "You're killing me, smalls!"

Dustin felt inward relief spread throughout him, thankful that he hadn't said the wrong words, which was a very rare case for him to not screw up like usual, "Eheh, thanks."

"Now come on, we're almost to school." Jenna smiled up at Dustin.

Dustin held this instant in his mind as his eyes shone brightly before he nodded, "Y-yeah, let's go." He looked forward towards the approaching school.

He did like Jenna.
He did like Jenna.
He did like Jenna.
...Right?
