Chapter 3: Training

Later that same day, Maka, Soul, and I met up with Brian outside the Magic school. I was wearing my usual black T-shirt and black Pants. But I also wore a new accessory: a silver chain necklace with a silver rectangle attached. This rectangle was a small sheet of metal with God's prayer written on it and a cross designed in the middle.

"What's with the necklace?" Brian asked.

"Restrictions." I answered, "If you'll remember, I'm the embodiment of Lucifer. By default, I have six hundred, sixty-six restrictions on the Devil's power, they keep me from fully unleashing Hell. But recently, I've learned that's not enough. This necklace raises the restrictions to seven hundred, seventy-seven. This is because I don't intend to use that power anymore. It..... does something to me. It makes me BECOME the devil! I hate it... and this will keep that side locked down, for now at least."

"Yeah, I heard about your fight with Black Star." Brian sighed, "Poor guy's traumatized."

"My Hellfire was that bad, huh?" I asked.

"No." Brian replied, "He just can't accept that he lost a fight. Now, he won't stop complaining."

"Oh..." I sweat dropped, "Well..... moving on! Brian, it's time to begin your training..."

"YES!!!" Brian cheered.

"By fighting me." I continued.

"NO!!!" Brian sounded less excited.

"Don't worry." I sighed, "For one thing, under the 777 restrictions on my devil form, paired with the brand limiting my powers, I won't be too bad to fight. For another thing, you won't be fighting me alone. Soul and Maka will be your teammates."

"Huh?" Brian asked.

"Obviously, even with all the restrictions and seals on my power, I'm still more experienced and more powerful than you." I answered, "At least, I am for now. If you fight me alone now, it'll just be a constant game of 'I knock you down, you get back up, I knock you down again, you get back up again, etc.' But, with these two as partners, I've got a few ideas of how you can learn from this fight. Now, let's begin!"

Brian punched me in the chest with all his strength. I didn't flinch and a few seconds later, Brian was shaking his hand, his knuckles red and throbbing. I then punched him in the face, knocking him back.

"Too hasty." I sighed. Suddenly, Soul transformed into a scythe in Maka's hands. She swung at me. I dodged and shot an electric shockwave from my palm, pushing her a few feet away. Brian then charged at me from the left with another punch, while Maka charged at me from the right with another swipe. With my right hand, I caught Brian's fist and flipped him over, and with my left hand, I grabbed the blade of Soul and dug it into the ground. But, Maka suddenly jumped up and slammed her foot across the right side of my face. I stumbled back, a hand on my face.

"Nice kick!" Brian commented. Him and Maka looked at each other, then looked away, blushing. But, their little moment was interrupted by me zapping the both of them.

"Boom, your both dead." I stated, ignoring the pain from Maka's kick, "Fools. You can't let yourselves be distracted by anything, least of all, by each other! You wanna learn to fight right? Then get your heads out of each other's asses and PAY ATTENTION!"

"You're being harsh." Brian stuck his tongue out.

"I'm being nice!" I hissed, "Compared to what Rakarov will do to you, I'm treating you guys to a day at the freaking spa!"

"Fine, then..." Brian began, "I DEMAND A FACIAL!"

I then kicked Brian in the face. "IDIOT!" I yelled with tick marks and pointy teeth. I then felt Maka suddenly stomp on my head, jumping over me to get to Soul. She reclaimed her weapon and swung at me. I dodged several swipes, but took a punch to the face from Maka. "At least you aren't weak." I grinned, wiping blood from my lip, "But you still aren't strong enough!" I then hit Maka with a bolt of blue lightning. She flew back, dropping Soul. I walked up to her. "What's wrong?!" I asked, "Can't you fight without your weapon?!" electricity crackled violently in my hand, "You will have to endure pain to grow strong."

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain. I looked down and realized the blade of Soul was going through my back and sticking out of my chest. Blood spurted and flowed from my wound as I looked to see Brian was the one wielding Soul.

'What?!' I thought, my eyes widening, 'I expected his powers to manifest by now, but I didn't think he'd be able to grow in his abilities as a meister so quickly. He's maturing even faster than I thought he would.'

My eyes then narrowed back to their usual size. My surprised facial expression was replaced with an annoyed one. "Oh, look at that." I sighed, "I've been impaled. Damn it, Brian, I really liked this shirt!" Brian pulled Soul out of my ribcage. Soul turned into his human form and he, Brian, and Maka looked at me, surprised.

"Y-you're not dead?!" Brian stuttered, "I mean, it's great that you're not dead and all, I didn't mean to stab you, but HOW?!"

"Heh..." I grinned, "If this is all it would take to kill me, I never would've escaped Rakarov to begin with. Anyway, this lesson's over now." The electricity in my hand vanished as I helped Maka up, "I'm impressed, Brian. I didn't think you'd learn to act as a meister so quickly."

"Well, I am an amazing, awesome, sexy beast." Brian replied with a big goofy grin.

"Shut it." I growled, "Don't make me fight you twice in a row. Anyway, let's head inside. For now, the four of us can rest. But, we'll be getting back to work later."

"Aww!" Brian groaned.

"And next time, you won't have Maka's help." I stated with an evil smile.

"WHAT?!?!"
