Chapter 38
As soon as I finished the whole can of beer, I felt so sleepy and lightheaded.
"P-Paula," I slur, grabbing her and pulling her into a hug.
"Stop it, Amelia. What the fuck," she mutters trying to escape my snaking arms.
"But I want to cuddle," I say absentmindedly, wrapping my arms around her tightly. I even wrap my legs around her so that she won't be able to escape.
"Oh, shut up, you're just drunk," she says, removing my arms and my legs before finally escaping from me.
"Am I? I don't think so," I tell her, chuckling.
"You are, now get some sleep," she says, covering my eyes with her palm.
"Paula!" I shriek, laughing.
I can't stop laughing. She's not doing anything. She simply just blocked my eyes with her hand. What's so funny?
"Is this what blind people see every day?" I say, continuing to laugh.
"Don't make fun of the blind people," she says with a strict tone and I can't help but laugh even more. "Stop laughing, what the hell."
She covers my mouth with her other hand as I try my best to stop laughing. When I finally do, she removes both her hands.
"You are drunk," she tells me with a serious tone.
We just stare at each other for a while and that's when I burst into laughter once again.
"That's it. I'm leaving," she says when suddenly the doorbell rings.
"W-who's that?" I say, getting off the bed as my legs bring me to the door.
"Stop, Amelia!" Paula shouts as she gets off the bed quickly.
She tried to keep up with me but it was too late. I already opened the door and that's when I saw a guy I wasn't familiar with.
"Uhm, hey," he says as I found myself smiling at him. He smiles back at me while trying to see behind my shoulder.
"Hello," I say as he continues to search for Paula.
"Is Paula ar—"
"I'm here," Paula suddenly says from behind me.
"Oh, hey!" he says as Paula shoves me out of the way.
The guy gets inside and gives Paula a hug.
"Who is he?" I ask Paula, pointing to the guy as if he wasn't just a foot away from me.
"Amelia," she starts. "This is Blake. Blake, this is Amelia," she continues.
Blake sticks out his hand as I shake it crazily. Blake just looks at me with a surprised look.
"Cut it out, what the hell," Paula says, removing my hand away from Blake's. "I think she's drunk," she tells Blake.
"So, who is he?" I repeat my question, still feeling so lightheaded.
"I literally just told you, didn't I?" Paula says, her patience running out.
"Don't be too harsh," Blake says with a soothing voice before turning to me. "I'm her side chick," he tells me and I just look at both of them with disbelief.
"Stupid!" Paula says before swatting Blake's chest.
"Why? Am I not?" Blake says, laughing.
I laughed along with Blake and we just continue to laugh for no reason at all. Paula stares at both of us, crossing her arms.
"Are you done?" she says as we finally stopped laughing.
"What are you so upset about?" Blake asks her, placing his hands on her shoulders.
"It's because Amelia forced herself to drink the whole can of beer!" she says, sending daggers through her eyes.
Suddenly, the whole room started spinning and I felt my body hit the floor. I heard Paula shriek as she kneels next to me.
"Amelia!" was the last thing I heard from her mouth before my eyelids finally closed.
I opened my eyes a short while after and all I can see was a bright light. I can see a figure surrounded by a bright white light and I knew right away who it was.
"Chelsea," I say with confidence but no sound came out from my mouth.
The girl approaches me slowly and walks circles around me. I followed her with my eyes.
"You smell like alcohol," she says, sniffing me.
"I do?" I say with shock.
"Yeah. Did you drink?" she says and I just shake my head.
"You know that I don't drink!" I deflect.
"Well, I'm pretty sure it's alcohol I'm smelling from you," she says with a firm voice.
"That's bullshit, then," I say and I felt her take a step back in surprise.
"Did you just cuss?" she says, walking closer to me.
"N-no," I say, looking away.
"I just heard you cuss, though!" she says before placing her cold hands against both sides of my face.
"You're h-hands a-are freezing," I tell her and she just giggles.
"You've changed," she says as my whole body go rigid.
"H-how?" I say, my curiosity spiking up.
"That's your mind and body, you better know," she says as I felt her bring her forehead against mine.
I couldn't really feel her, I could just sense her there. She felt like the wind against my skin.
"B-but I don't think I did, though," I deny.
"You know you did. Though I think right now, you forgot about all the things you've done just a week ago," she says as I try to recall what I've done.
She finally pulls away from me. She walks away without bothering to look back.
"Where are you going?" I ask as she stopped taking the next step.
"Let me tell you something," she says, still looking straight ahead. "You know better than that, Amelia."
Just like that, she finally left without saying another word. The whole room went dim to the point that I can no longer see a thing. That's when I realized my eyes were closed shut.
I open them and I realized that I was still at Paula's place.
"Amelia!" she shouts.
I turn to look at her as I can feel my head throb with much pain.
"H-hey," I say, looking to the window. It was already dark and it felt quite late already. I searched for any signs of Blake.
"Blake's no longer here. It's already 10 pm," she says as if she could read my mind.
"How long was I out?" I ask her, sitting up.
"About seven hours," she says as she helps me sit up. "Do you feel fine?" she asks with concerned eyes.
"Yeah, my head just hurts a little," I lie.
My head was hurting like shit.
"Do you want to stay the night here? I called your mom earlier," she says as I shoot her a look.
"What did she say?" I ask nervously.
"She said you could stay here if you want," she says. Her eyes still filled with concern.
"Then, sure, I'll stay."
