CHAPTER 5

"Cause I do think about you, can't shake you off baby stuck like glue"
Think About Us- Little Mix ft Ty Dolla $ign

I arrive at Mrs Leighton's house a few minutes to eight. Her house is not as big as mine and not as fancy, but it is definitely more homely and I love it. I love how it smells of chocolate.

'Leigh-Anne, I'm so glad you could make it,' Mrs Leighton says as she pulls me in for a warm hug.

'How could I not?'

The both of us sit and chat for a while before the guests start arriving and she turns on some soft music. Being the good girl that I am, I help her welcome the guests and she introduces me to some of them as "the daughter she never had", although most of them know me and press me for autographs.

All the guests finally arrive and soon they're walking around, dancing, eating and drinking, chatting and mingling with new people. I continue chatting with Mrs Leighton until my attention is diverted when there is a knock on the door.

Mrs Leighton is about to stand when I stop her. 'I'll get it,' I tell her.

I open the door and before me is a tall and handsome young man around the age of twenty-seven.

'Uh hello, are you here for the party?' I manage to say.

'Yes I am.'

'Oh, please come in.'

I step aside for him to pass and my heart flutters as he smiles at me.

What a beautiful smile.

I continue to stare at him as he makes his way into the house, very familiar with the place as he goes to meet Mrs Leighton.

'Sheldon!' She exclaims as she hugs him.

His name is Sheldon. Noted.

'I'm sorry for being late, mum.'

Wait a minute.

Mrs Leighton hits his arm playfully as she gestures for me to come over.

'Leigh-Anne, this is my amazing son, Sheldon and Sheldon, this is my very close friend, Leigh-Anne though she is more like a daughter to me,' Mrs Leighton says as she holds me close. 'And you know what, she's a member of a very popular girl band, she's a pop star!'

Sheldon looks at me without recognition.

'He's not a fan of pop music.' Mrs Leighton laughs as she nudges him. 'Sometimes I wonder who's the old one amongst us.'

Sheldon laughs, making his pretty eyes crinkle and displaying his perfect white dentures.

What a beautiful laugh.

'Come on, your uncle and aunt have been waiting for you,' Mrs Leighton says as she leads her son towards his relatives.

I've never met Mrs Leighton's children before although she talks about them very often. I bet they're all good looking, I mean their mother is beautiful so I can't expect them not to be.

Just as I am about to get another drink, I catch Sheldon staring at me and it takes me all the willpower I can muster to stop myself from grinning and looking like an utter fool. I just smile at him and pretend I'm not affected by his stare.

Okay Leigh-Anne, get yourself together.

Before I know it he is making his way towards me and I try all I can to look cool as I sip my drink.

'Hi, uh, Leigh-Anne.'

He remembers my name.

'Hi,' I say, ignoring the fact that I am melting internally.

'So, how long have you known my mum?' There is something about his tone that shows he's also nervous but he is doing a great job of hiding it- unlike me.

'About a year now,' I say. 'She's a very nice woman, probably the nicest I've ever met. Did you know she spends two hundred thousand pounds on charity every year?'

Ugh, I'm such a blabbermouth, I say to myself and mentally facepalm myself.

Sheldon laughs. 'No you're not.'

Oh no, did I say that out loud?

'Yes you did.'

I gasp and lower my head as I flush immensely.

I must look like a big red meatball right now.

'No you don't.'

I groan and down the rest of my drink making him laugh again. Mrs Leighton sees us and comes over.

'I see you two are getting along quite well.'

'We sure are,' Sheldon says before I can even open my mouth.

I look at the clock and see that it's already late, some of the guests are leaving already.

'I think you need to go home now, Leigh-Anne,' Mrs Leighton says.

'But who's gonna help you tidy up after all the guests are gone?'

'Don't worry about that dear, Sheldon is here to help me.'

'But---'

'Go on, it's getting late, you need to go home and get some sleep. You're a very busy lady.'

'Alright, I'm going.'

'I'll see you to your car,' Sheldon says as he leads me out of the house, opening the door for me.

'Goodnight Mrs Leighton,' I say as I leave the house.

'Have a good night Leigh-Anne.' I hear her say before Sheldon shuts the door.

When we are outside Sheldon collects my number and I don't hesitate to give it to him.

'Looking forward to hearing your voice again,' He says.

I quickly get into my car so he wouldn't see me flush.

'Goodbye... for now.' He smirks at me.

'Bye,' I say and drive off.

'So how was the party?' Mary-Anne asks immediately I get the chance to take off my shoes and slump on the sofa.

'Awww she's smiling, she definitely met someone,' Bonnie-Anne coos.

'Leave me alone you guys.'

'So who is he? I bet he's good-looking or you wouldn't be smiling so much.'

'Bonnie---'

'Come on Leigh.'

'Okay fine, he's Mrs Leighton's son, Sheldon.'

'You know his name, that's a good start. Do you have his number?'

'No, but I gave him mine.'

Bonnie-Anne shrieks making me grimace as I rub my ear.

'I think I need to go to bed,' I say and hurry up to my room so my sisters won't see me blush. If they do, I'll never hear the end of it.

Ugh, why am I blushing so much tonight? It's not like this is the first time I'm meeting a handsome man. I've met a lot of good-looking men in my life but there is something about this one that makes me feel so attracted and I just don't know what.

It's been eight months since I've been in a relationship and it's also been a very busy nine months for me and the girls that's why I didn't have any time for relationships. Then why am I acting all mushy because of Sheldon? I shouldn't expect anything from him because he probably has a pretty girl judging by his good looks, so maybe he justs wants to be friends.

But he was staring at me at the party. Doesn't that mean something? I'm sure it does, but whatever it is, I'll just have to wait to find out.

'So you met Mrs Leighton's son, was he a knight in shining armour or was he more of a prince charming?' Perrie asks as I tell them about the get-together.

Why is Perrie so fond of asking silly questions?

'Is he hot?' Jesy asks and I blush. 'Aha,' She says and I quickly take a large bite of my food.

We decided to have breakfast at our favourite restaurant that morning. And just when I thought this was going to be a perfect Sunday, I see my sisters rush into the restaurant.

This is just great.

They see us and come over, grabbing chairs from another table and sitting with us.

'Hi girls!' Mary-Anne says cheerily as she signals for the waiter.

'Hi,' the girls reply dully. I don't blame them though.

'You're having breakfast without us? Not fair,' Bonnie-Anne says as she pouts.

'Um, how did you even know we were here?' I ask.

'I overheard you talking on the phone about coming here for breakfast so I thought it would be a good idea if we joined you.'

'It was such a great idea,' I say, but she seemed not to take note of my sarcasm.

The waiter comes over and they order their food. Mary-Anne's phone rings and she groans as she picks it.

'Hello... hi... I'm good... I'm having breakfast right now... I don't know... All right, I'll see you.'

'Who was that?' Bonnie-Anne asks.

'Shawn. He wants me to meet him for breakfast so we can talk,' Mary-Anne says as she stands.

'Who's Shawn?' I ask.

'The guy we met during our jog.'

'I thought you didn't like him.'

'I don't, but I have to go meet him in person to make him understand or he'll keep bothering me.'

'Why don't you give him a chance, he really likes you,' Bonnie-Anne says.

'I don't care. All right girls, I'll see you,' Mary-Anne says and leaves.

'I better go with her, just in case,' Bonnie-Anne says and goes after her.

I heave a huge sigh of relief and finally relax in my chair.

Thanks for saving me, Shawn.

'So, about Sheldon, if he calls you, will you give him a chance?' Jade asks, smiling at me.

I blush. 'Well, I already like him a lot so if he isn't already in a relationship, I'll give him a chance.'

'So you will,' Jesy coos and the others laugh.

The waiter brings the food Bonnie-Anne and Mary-Anne ordered and serves it.

'Enjoy your meal,' He says and leaves.

'Why thank you,' Jade says.

'But they've already left so who's gonna eat their food now?' Perrie asks.

'That means more for us,' Jesy says and we all laugh as we share the food.
