Fire Away
Lyndsey's POV:
Niall and I landed last night in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We decided to stay at a hotel near my family's house because I didn't want Niall to be overwhelmed by my family. It's five o'clock in the afternoon so Niall and I headed over to the house. We had dinner reservations at seven but I knew my family all too well so I found it best for Niall and them to first meet in a less public area. The place I had in mind was at thier house. Not exactly ideal but what other place am I gonna do? I can't do a park because that is just sketchy.
I stepped out of the car and couldn't believe how cold it was! I had to wear jeans, a pink sweater, and a white hat, and closed-toed shoes just to remain warm. Niall and I walked up to the front door where he rang the doorbell for me. It wasn't long before the dog, Tino, began to bark and my sister, Mikayla, opened the front door, only to walk away while looking at her phone. I didn't see my mom or dad so Niall and I decided to wait in the entryway. Tino came running over to Niall only to sniff his foot before looking up and barking.

My mother came running down the stairs with a smile on her face. She was dressed like a "Rocky Mountain Momma" as they say in Colorado.
"Hello Niall," My mother greeted as she walked over to Niall with her hand out in front of her. "I have heard so much about you from Lyndsey so it is a pleasure to finally meet you!"
"It's nice to meet you," Niall replied as he shook hands with my mom.
"Mom, is everybody ready?" I asked. "We don't want to miss our reservation."
"Mikayla, let's go!" My mom yelled. "I'll be right back, I have to go grab my purse and get your father."
We ended up being late for our reservation but the restaurant was kind enough to give us a table anyway. I sat next to Niall while our parents were across from us and my sister was between my mom and me.
"Mikayla put down your phone." My father commanded.
Mikayla rolled her eyes and put her phone face down on the table. My mom quickly grabbed Mikayla's phone and stuffed it in her purse so she wouldn't be tempted to check it throughout dinner. It was a pretty awkward time so Mikayla kicked it off by saying, "You know what, I think Zayn is more attractive. No offense, Niall. It's too bad your friend Sara is dating Harry and not you because he is superior."
"Mikayla!" My mom snapped. "Don't be rude."
"It's honestly just facts." She responded.
I set my elbow on the table and rested my head in my hands. This couldn't get any worse. Niall looked over at me and put his arm around me as he gently rubbed my back. I am so embarrassed!
"So, Niall how do you feel about politics?" My father chimed in.
"Dad!" I sighed.
"What? I would like to know where Niall stands."
"Um, I actually wouldn't know too much," Niall answered. "I'm from Ireland so I don't know anything regarding the United States politics."
"Well," My father continued. "That's unfortunate."
This was all going horribly wrong. This whole thing made me cringe. I should have never agreed to this! Why did I cave in? Oh, yeah, that's right, I caved in because Niall has got the sweetest intentions and his big soft eyes make me melt.
"Niall, are you vegan?"
"Mom, please," I begged.
"I am not a vegan, Mrs. Galvin," Niall replied. "I honestly don't think I could do it."
"Oh well that's something you and Lyndsey have in common but you two should really consider it for your health." She advised.
"Mom! Enough!"
"Oh snap." Makayla chuckled.
"Makayla stay out of it!" My father added.

The whole dinner with my family was a total disaster. The questions they asked were just weird. I am so relieved that it is finally over! I literally crashed on top of the bed and sighed heavily because of embarrassment.
"Your family is quite something," Niall commented.
"I tried to warn you."
Niall laid next to me on the bed and assured, "They aren't that bad. They might just be straight forward but I've chatted with worse."
I looked over at Niall and smiled.
"Are you sure that's what you think about them or are you just trying to make me feel better?" I asked.
"It's kind of a mixture." Niall smiled.
He leaned over a kissed me on the forehead which led to several kisses on the cheek. Followed by soft kisses on my neck. I felt paralyzed as he kissed my neck. I couldn't take it anymore so I grabbed his head and gently guided his lips to mine. We found ourselves making out in the hotel room with our lips moving perfectly in sync with each other.
