Chapter 28: Ninety Three, Diagon Alley

They landed in Diagon alley around 11 pm and after reluctantly sending away her thestral (named Kathy), Delphi followed the boys down the darkened street to a large shop front, bright orange and glowing faintly in the moon light.

Fred whispered something to the door, that sounded distinctly like 'babbling bumbling band of baboons' before the door clicked open.
"Love the paint job, the street was way too rectangular before." She complemented, eyeing the storefront.
George grinned as he led her inside, Fred lighting up the store floor for her to see.

The shelves were mostly empty, but Delphi didn't need the few visions she had of the place to see its potential.
"The first visitor to Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. I'm making history."
Fred grinned at her, her awed reaction clearly meant a lot to the pair as they started discussing the place at great length. How they'd snuck out of school to meet with an agent, and been secretly working on it over the last year. They had stock lists, and a hiring list already.
"It's going to bring this old alley to life." Said George grinning.
Fred hummed, eyeing her. "You were right though, back then. We just had to keep doing what we loved and the money came our way."
George snorted as they headed up the stairs, "that's way too vague, you can't claim that's a proper prediction."
Delphi took the bait, with a sly smile, "You're right, Harry's generosity is hard to predict. Only that kid could give up 10,000 galleons to you two nutters."

"Your nutters though." Murmured George grinning.
She flushed, suddenly aware of how quiet it was and how alone they were.
"Didn't see this coming huh." Teased Fred, moving closer to her, though his fidgeting hands betrayed his caution.
"I never see my own future. It's the one blank..." she murmured against his lips, her own smiling, "then again, I'm learning to like the surprises."
Fred's hand rose, finger tips brushing her neck before his hand cupped her cheek and he closed the distance again, the tingling warmth of his touch feeling perfect to her. Delphi's eyes fluttered closed as she leaned back against the balustrade, his body suffusing her own with warmth that chased away the chill of their flight.

It only felt like seconds but must have been longer, before George spoke up, his tone playful, "come on brother mine! Supposed to be sharing aren't we?"
Delphi looked away then, the statement bringing sudden doubts to mind.
She put a little distance between them and turned to gaze out at the lower floor of the shop as she tried to keep up with her racing mind.
"Delph?" They asked together.
"Will it work?" She asked, suddenly quiet, "the three of us...people tend to stick to pairs for a reason.." (please remember this is set in the ninties, no polyamory was canonical and opinions of characters do not necessarily reflect those of the author, merci)

"Well..."
The way they trailed off brought a chill to her bones as she remembered why this had been such a terrible thing in the first place. The very idea that they were planning their future with her...with the fact one of them would not survive the war in mind... made her feel sick.
"Dobby?" She called softly.
The elf was with her in a moment, accompanied by the quiet pop, that came with elf apparaition.
"Missus fortune calls Dobby?" He asked, smiling cheerily, looking so much healthier and happier than the first time they'd met. "You is far from the castle miss."
"I had to leave a little early." She said quietly, "I was wondering if you'd do me a favour?"
"Anything miss! As long as it doesn't get the great master Harry Potter in trouble I'll do anything miss!"
She smiled softly, "The Weasley twins and I, well our exit was unplanned, so we've left our trunks at the castle. Could you get them to us please? And Aggi? I have a feeling Umbridge might have him."
"Of course missus fortune!" He beamed and vanished with a another pop.

"How do you know him so well? Isn't he the one who tried to kill Harry?" Asked Fred, the topic change as subtle as an purple buffalo playing a kazoo, but appreciated.
"He has great fashion taste," she answered absently, still leaning over the balustrade and not looking at them. "Loved his socks. We got talking when I saw him in a particularly nice green pair with lemons on them."
George chuckled, though they both knew her well enough to know that when she went into full out Lovegood mode she wasn't in a good place.

George moved over to stand next to her, and his hand rubbed her shoulder, his uncertainty about what to do as endearing as it was heart breaking.
She leant into his side, allow herself to take a little comfort in his warmth before Dobby returned with three packed trunks and a rather confused Horklump.
"They was in lady toad's offices miss, but she did not open the trunks! I think your magics put her in the flower nurseys rooms!"
Delphi smiled as Aggi launched themself onto her shoulder. She then reluctantly left George to reach for her trunk, taking out a small shirt with a lion wearing a top hat graphic, and several rainbow coloured socks before handing them to Dobby.
"I suspect I won't be able to see you for a while Dobby." She said quietly, "so have these, because house elves taking care of Harry Potter should always look their best, yeah?"
Dobby stared at her a long moment, before he burst into tears and launched himself at her. She gave the elf a tight hug before pulling away, "you take care of Harry for me won't you?"
He gave her a salute with one hand, clutching the clothes in the other as if they would try to escape. "I will missus!"

She smiled as he left before picking up her trunk and turning to the boys with her best 'everything's fine' smile. "Now where are we sleeping?"
They flushed, but the tension shift to something more entertaining at least.
"You want to?"
She smiled, "bit fast to do any of the stuff going through your heads, but now I've got boyfriends, I'm not sleeping alone."
They both picked up their trunks and led her to a back room and up a second set of stairs, presumably to their flat.

It was a nice place, bit sparse but they were seventeen and not raised running a household like her, how were they to know what stuff an apartment would need.
She ignored it for now, and entered the bedroom, surprised at the large double bed. "You guys share?"
"Just brotherly, we know we're sexy, but it's just girls for us." They said in sync, hands raised. Their reaction suggested this wasn't the first time they'd been asked. She wasn't honestly surprised.
She rolled her eyes, "just asking."

Delphi turned to her trunk and opened it, rummaging until she found her most comfortable pyjamas, and pulling off her outer school robe. The twins froze up and she raised an eyebrow. "Are you leaving like gents or gawking like fourteen year olds?"
She pulled off her jumper and the two scarpered. It was comical, not that they intended it to be so. Once she was finished, resplendent in giant shirt and boxers, she untied her hair, letting the curls hang loose before calling that she was decent, and leaving the boys in peace.

Delphi resisted the urge to peep and headed to the small bathroom, doing her teeth, brushing out her hair and washing her face before heading back to wait.
The floor boards creaked but that could be fixed with a spell, as could the paint work. The windows in the living room needed an urgent clean and as a bookworm she had high standards for armchairs that weren't met by any present. Good thing she had some savings, or else she'd have had to abandon the duo for her home comforts within the week.

A call from inside told her all was clear and she headed in, finding the pair dressed similarly to her.
"Who's usually the little spoon?" She teased with a smirk, staring directly at George who glared right back.
"We don't spoon each other." He insisted, the statement ruined by Fred's cackles.

Dephi beamed, mischief sparkling in her eyes, "nothing to be ashamed of Georgie, speaking little spoon to little spoon. No judgement."
He went red to the roots of his hair before striding toward her so he could use all his height to maximum effect. "I. Am. Not. The. Little. Spoon."
Delphi stood on her tiptoes and stroked his jawline with her index finger. "Of course not big boy."

"Alright!"
Delphi yelped as she was lifted by her waist over Fred's shoulder, "I refuse to experience any more third wheeling tonight."
The blonde laughed, wiggling half heartedly in his hold as he strode over to the bed, dropping her onto it, and diving after her.
Delphi snickered as his landing on the mattress made her bounce into the air, George timing his own arrival to make it look like Delphi was on a trampoline rather than a bed.
She landed between the pair with a half giggled "s-stop!" spreading her arms for balance and finding them surprisingly close on either side.

Their own chuckles faded with hers, suddenly leaving the bedroom awfully quiet.
"Now what do we do?" Asked Fred nervously.
Delphi swallowed, turning on her side so her back was to George and her face was centimetres from Fred's. Knowing she was blushing, she spoke tentatively, "well, I don't know very much...but it would feel really nice if..."
"If..." continued George nervously.
Delphi lowered her eyes from Fred's, reaching an arm back to find George's, and taking his hand to guide it, so his arm wrapped around her waist. She'd been right, it felt really nice.

Tentatively George tightened his hold, pulling her back against his chest, and resting his chin on her head. "You're right." He confirmed, "feels very nice."
"And what about me?" Asked Fred, his tone half complaining half curious.
Delphi kept her eyes lowered as she reached out and took his hands keeping one firmly in her own, and lifting the other to her own face.

They stared into each other's eyes, until George's soft snores brought them back to the present.
"That was fast."
Fred hummed, "he's always been like that."
Delphi smiled as the sleeping twin pulled her slightly closer, before looking up again as Fred's calloused thumb brushed her cheekbone.
"I don't think I'll be able to sleep like this." He mumbled.
Delphi tilted her head up and kissed his nose. "Well I will, so good luck with that, Freddie."
He opened his mouth in protest but Delphi had already closed her eyes. Nestling her head slightly into the palm of his hand, it only took a few breaths before she too was lost to sleep.

The ministry tried to give them trouble, but the twins had done their homework on the legal side of things, with regards to the shop, and them living above it. And no matter how Percy fussed, there was nothing anyone could do to stop them.

Xenophilius Lovegood was rather unbothered by Delphi's early leave from school. It was completely ensnared by the rot fang conspiracy so he was relieved his eldest daughter was out of it. Besides twins were lucky magically so his daughter could not be at risk from them, if anything they might aid her in discovering new adventures.

Molly Weasley on the other hand.

Hello beautiful creatures.
My exams are over!
However I am headed to a remote part of South Africa with a group of scientists for the entire summer.
There is no wifi which means either, I'll be bored silly and write tonnes, update where there's signal regularly and be a reader's dream...or updates are going to continue to be horrendously patchy.
I won't know until I get there, so I apologise in advance if it's the latter!
