TESSA -(1)-
Well, this day didn't go as expected.
Tessa couldn't figure out where she went wrong. Maybe it was picking up those strange rings at the park. Maybe it was saying yes to the invitation to join her two friends. Maybe it was finding that shady anime website with every episode of Black Butler dubbed in English. Maybe it was letting Meg convince to watch the damn show after all.
Either way, she didn't know what she had done to deserve this.
She was stranded in the middle of a field. She couldn't find her phone. On the bright side, she wasn't alone. Meg and Hannah were laying on the ground next to her, and all three girls seemed very confused.
Tessa had worn her typical outfit, meaning a Harry Potter T-shirt and a pair of jean-shorts. Although, now she found herself in a ruby red Victorian era gown. The red flew over the sides of the dress, but a few white ruffles decorated the bottom and the sleeves.
The over-the-top Meg, excited and the one who insisted they hang out, had worn a Black Butler shirt and short-shorts was wearing a similar outfit. Although the color scheme was now a lilac color, she still wore a shirt with shorts, a long coat behind her.
Hannah was probably the least happy with the abrupt change in outfit. While Hannah had been wearing a short dress, she was now in long pants and an overly fluffy white shirt. A string of colorful curses flew out of her mouth (none of them in English, mind you) as she noticed a long black overcoat and immediately put it on.
"Now all you're missing is a top hat!" Meg yelled, dissolving into a mess of giggles.
"Oh, come on Meg!" Tessa said, trying to defend the redheaded girl mumbling on about someone named Jack.
"Honestly! Of everyone in our group, I had to be the guy?" Hannah questioned.
"We can switch if you want." Tessa offered. Hannah shook her head, instead getting up and offering a hand to Tessa.
"M'lady," she said, over exaggerating the bow as Tessa rolled her eyes and grabbed the hand offered to her. "We need to get our story straight, because this," she said, gesturing around, "is most certainly not home. In fact, it looks like Old London."
"LONDON?" Meg shouted, attracting the attention of those outside the close area.
"Are you three alright?" A man, dressed in entirely blue, a nightstick at his side, goggled at the trio.
"Yes, sir. My sister is extraordinarily incompetent at times." Hannah glared at Meg, as the young brunette scoffed at her. Tessa could clearly tell that Hannah had some knowledge of how to deal with things, and it became somewhat clear that if they were going to make it back to where they belonged alive, they were going to have to do it escorted by Hannah.
"Ah, is that so?" The officer scrutinized her face, apparently looking for any mischief in her eyes. Meg snorted in the background, standing up on her own since apparently Hannah didn't want to help her.
"Yes, now if you don't mind, we're looking for someone." Tessa braved. She figured they'd need a story, a reason to get on their way.
"And who might that be?"
"The Undertaker." Meg blurbed. The Black Butler fanatic couldn't help but name someone who would probably get the information they needed, although from watching the show, the trio knew he would need to laugh before they could know anything of much interest.
"Who died?" The officer said.
With a sigh not nearly long enough, Hannah glared at the officer. "I don't aquite think that's any of your business, but if you must know, it was our parents." Her voice, thankfully, didn't waver, as it would have been clear it was a falsehood.
This lie seemed off to Tessa. Not just because no one had died, but it seemed oddly specific and unnecessary. She'd have to ask Hannah about it later.
"Alright, well, I'm sorry about your loss, but the Undertaker is a bid off. His shop is all the way over in Whitechapel. You've got a bit of a ways to go, considering you're over here by Canal Road. I could walk you there if you-"
"No, no, that's unnecessary." Hannah assured him before grabbing Meg's arm. "Thank you for the offer, but we will manage." She then dragged Meg off, leaving Tessa with the officer. Tessa gave the officer a small smile before dashing after her friends, inwardly cursing and swearing they would get an earful from her later.
"So, we are in London! What are we going to do friends?!" Meg exclaimed. Hannah sighed before shrugging. Both girls briefly paused talking as Tessa came dashing up next to them, clearly out of breath.
"I hate the both of you."
Hannah smirked. "Sorry Tess, but let's keep going. We have a long walk ahead of us..." Meg and Tessa groaned.
"Let's go screw around with people!" Meg said. "Let's show them tech from the future and blow up the entire earth!"
"There's this thing called the Butterfly effect." Hannah started. Tessa sent one glance her way before throwing her hand over her mouth and addressing Meg.
"Meg, that would be a terrible idea, but you're forgetting the fact that we don't have our phones." Tessa sneered at her.
Meg then had the realization. "Shit, how am I going to post on social media now! All my followers will think I'm dead!"
Tessa rolled her eyes. "You'll live. People survived without social media for millions of years, we can manage without it for a while."
Hannah cleared her throat. "While this conversation is quite riveting, ladies, we do have a few bigger problems. Now, let's go find the Undertaker. Hopefully, we'll make it there before dark."
"But can't we just mess with a few people?" The whiny girl pleaded, hands folded as she made a scene in the middle of broad daylight.
"No, Meg, we can't." Tessa said simply, smoothing out the wrinkles in her beautiful new dress.
"How am I going to hunt for Pokemon?!" Meg screamed to herself.
"Listen, if I know anything about London, it's that a renovation project got rid of all the empty fields in the early 1900's. This means we're in the 1800's. Judging from the uniform on that cop, I'd say about 1880's, which means getting somewhere before dark is essential if we don't want to get slain by Jack the Ripper, so shut up and move on." Hannah said, concluding her history lesson and stalking away down the street in a huff before stopping and pausing.
As the trio walked down the road, Tessa fiddled with her ring. It had a very abnormal symbol on it, and it took her a few minutes to realize why it looked familiar.
"Hey Meg, doesn't this symbol look like the one on Ciel's eye in Black Butler?" Stopping in the street, she extended her left hand to Meg and the fangirl looked at it.
"Yes, yes it does." Her calm demeanor instantly shattered as she looked at her right hand to find a delicate blue crystal embedded in silver on her thumb, a perfect fit. "OH MY GAWD HANNAH COME HERE!"
The redhead turned around, annoyed. Her boots clicked against the cobblestone as she approached the two gawking over their own and each other's rings. "Where did you get those?"
"We don't know! We just found them..."
"They're the rings in the park, I guess." Tessa mumbled.
"Don't you have one?"
Hannah glanced at her hands, finding them clothed in black gloves. Biting the tip of her middle left glove, she dragged it off her hand, looking much like a Grell Sutcliff and Sebastian Michaelis love child at the moment. Placed on her middle finger was a beautiful green ring, silver shaped around the lowest knuckle, emerald glinting a variety of shades as she twisted her hand every which-way. "Well, this settles it."
"Settles what?"
"We're officially crazy."
