We're having a boy!
I can't believe it.
We're leaving the obgyns office. Forest, Lannie, and me. Blue couldn't make it, he had a dead line due on a Ford he was working on, he's beyond pissed about it. But it just couldn't be helped.
We load up in to the truck, Lannie is in the center. Forest has a grin on his face. Before he starts the engine, he reaches over and rubs her belly.
"Hey little man, I can't wait to meet you." I've never seen him so happy. Lannie puts her hand on top of his.
"Just a little bit longer. I'm just so glad there's only one. I couldn't imagine two!" She's been on about that ever since we found out she was pregnant. She's absolutely glowing. Her smile is bright. She has on a maternity shirt, that's looks wonderful on her. Since her pregnancy its like her is beauty personified.
"Do you want to call Blue or stop by and tell him, you know it's driving him nuts right now?" Looking at Lannie, I ask her, it's her decision on what we do. I know Blues been very impatient. He hated missing this.
"Let's stop by, if it's ok, then we can grab some lunch, I'm starving." Here lately all she's been craving is chili dogs. Her favorite has always been Mexican food, but she can't tolerate it as much these days. Gives her a lot of gas. In both ways.
"Sounds good." Forest tells her, starting the engine. We head toward Blues shop.
————
Walking in, we hear Blue cussing up a storm. He's had more work than ever these days. I told him he needs to hire another mechanic but for some reason, he doesn't want to. Country music is blasting through the shop. Probably thanks to Devlin.
Lannie approaches the Ford truck stepping over Blues equipment. He notices her, he's smiling, with grease all over his face and hands. She hands him the ultrasound photo, and waits.
He looks at it and scrunches his face. Yea I couldn't make it out either. Forest steps up behind her and I go to her side.
"It's a boy!" Lannie explains. Blue smiles even wider, he screams out a yes, it's a boy, picks her up and twirls her around. Sitting her down, he takes his greasy hand and rubs her belly. She doesn't seem to mind.
"Hey little fella, I'm daddy Blue." Talking in a baby voice. Blues always been emotional about these things. We are to but we tend to hide it more. Have to be men after all.
"What are we going to name him?" I ask. We have been going over names for both boys and girls. The latest has been Bella if it's a girl, which now we know it's not or Marcus for a boy. That or Klaus. It's been up in the air for the most part.
"I don't know we'll figure it out, we still have a bit of time." Lannie tells us. I don't think we will ever decide. We talk for a bit but Blue has to finish his work.
We say our goodbyes and head to grab Lannie food. Not minding that she now has grease on her shirt. Sitting in the restaurant, while all of us are talking, an older lady approaches our table. She has an elegant vibe about her. Looks to be in her late sixties. Hair grey and pulled back in a bun.
"How adorable. I bet you can't wait to meet your baby," she looks between me and Forest "who is the father?" Like it's any of her business.
"There are three of them actually." Lannie tells her with a giant smile.
"Three? That's impossible! How can there be three?" Staunchly old woman, apparently she soon catches on "that's ungodly!" She's says in a very uptight way. Lannie just laughs again. Our girl doesn't let this shit get to her.
"I'm getting married to three men and there all the daddy. It's That simple and not ungodly at all," you go girl!
"Well I never." The old buddy says with a gasp.
"And it shows, now if you'll excuse us. My baby needs to be fed." The biddy walks off with a huff.
We break into laughter. Some people should just mind their own business.
"I'm proud of you cherry" she beams at me.
"Can't let people like that get to you, it's our lives, our story, they can mind their own damn business." And with that, the conversation on it ends.
"So how about Frank." Forest pipes in. Lannie looks at him like he's crazy.
"No, no, how about Steven?" This is going to be an ongoing conversation. I just laugh.
———-
At home later that night we're all in the living room watching Twilight. Lannie can't enough of this movie series. She excuses herself and goes to the bathroom. Forest and I are on the couch. Blues in the chair asleep from a long day.
Lannie returns and she looks pale. Worry sets in automatically.
"What's wrong?" I immediately ask her, getting up from the couch, walking to her.
"I'm bleeding." Two words that stop my heart. Forest jumps up and wakes Blue. Explains the situation, he jumps up and grabs Lannie hand. We all load up in the truck. Forest and me in front. Lannie and Blue in the back. We're all a bit frantic.
—————
"Salvatores" we're in the emergency room waiting area. Forest went into the back with Lannie. Jumping up we walk over to the ER doctor.
"This way, please." He directs us a room off from the emergency area. It's stifling cold and smells of antiseptic. Lannies laying on the bed in a gown. Forest is beside her.
Please let our baby be ok!
Lannie smiles when we enter. Blue lets out a huge breath; along with me.
"What happened? Is the baby ok?" We're both asking. Forest nods his head.
"It was stress, the doc said she needs to relax and to take it easy." Stress meaning the damn trial hanging over our heads. For weeks she's been worried about it, she scared to face him. Even though she doesn't remember, they still want her testimony. Ridiculous if you ask me. We were the ones who witnessed it all. They want us all to testify; that we don't mind but with Lannie being pregnant, we keep fighting with the lawyer. He's a jackass! Never listens.
"We have to provide her with a stress free environment." Lannie goes to protest but we stop her.
"You have to think of our boy Lannie, he comes first."
"You need to relax."
"No arguments." We all tell her. She huffs out but agrees.
This damn trail needs to be over with.
—————
He was found guilty on all charges. He ended up getting 25 to life. We got our way though, Lannie didn't have to testify in front of the court. The lawyers video taped her. She broke down during it. We wanted to object to it. But the damn lawyers protested that it had to be done. I'm just glad it's over.
He tried to blame us again. That was his reasoning for doing it. The jury didn't by it. I thank God they could see through his bullshit.
Now that it's over maybe we can all relax and get back to a normal life.
He's to have no contact with Lannie what so ever. Not even a call. Her parents came to the trail. They sat on Derek's side. Luckily Lannie wasn't there to see them. I wanted to wring their necks. Still do. She deserves so much better. What kind of parents can treat their own daughter that way?
They did try to talk us after it was over. Forest just pushed her dad aside and kept walking. Good riddance is all I can say.
The one good thing that come out of it besides him being incarcerated. Was that he now has a scar on the side of face from Forest punching it and causing it to rip open. That I enjoyed seeing. We've made Lannie stay at home for the reading. Way to scared for her and the babies safety.
"He deserves more. They went way to easy on him." I agree with Blue but at least he received what he got. That much I'm happy about.
"Let's get home and tell Lannie, stop her worrying over this shit!." Forest tells us as we make our way home.
————
"Well?" She's sitting at the kitchen table eating another damn chili dog. Patiently waiting on our answer. We don't know how she's going to take it. It's evident that the stress has gotten to her. There's concern all over her face and she looks very tired.
"25 to life. With a stipulation that he can't call or get near you at any cost." Forest tells her as he sits down beside her and grabs her food. She smacks his hand away. Don't go near a pregnant woman's food. Ever. I laugh at him. Should've already learned that lesson.
"That's good, so it's all over?" I nod my head to her and sit on her other side, not going anywhere near her food.
"Was m-my parents there?" This is what I hate. The pure audacity of her parents treating her this cruelly. I want to tell her no. To spare her these feelings. But I know I can't.
"Yes they were there," grabbing her hand into mine "but don't worry about it cherry, their not worth it." Seeing the sadness in her eyes makes me want to absolutely murder them.
Before she can reply there's a knock on door. All of us get up to answer it.
I wish we didn't.
There stood her parents and another guy who I remember as her Uncle Carl. Who is now married to her mother. I cannot believe they are actually here. Of all the damn nerve.
"Mom?" Lannie has a quiver to her voice. She's a bit shaken of their arrival.
"May we come in?" Her father ask. I want to tell them no. Slam the door in their damn faces. But they walk in anyway without the invitation.
I'm beside Lannie, Forest is on the other, Blue is behind us. They are in front of us.
"Lannie, we need you to call this number," he hands her a card "it's your brothers lawyer," he explains "he wants to talk to you about a retrial. He wants you to testify on your brothers behalf," her father steps back "so he can get a lighter sentence. You call that number right there, tell him about all the good qualities about your brother and that you made a mistake. That these three," her father points at us "coerced you into saying what you did on the tape." He is out of his damn mind!
"Please Lannie, your brother didn't mean to honey, you know that. He's always been a good boy. He's try-"
Before she finishes that thought, I push them all out the door, slam it and lock it! Turning to Lannie, instead of words; I just hug her. Forest and Blue do the same. She's silently crying. Pulling back I take the card from her hands and rip into shreds. Tossing it in the air.
Looking back at Lannie she laughs. She actually laughs. Hopefully it's from thinking they're crazy as hell.
"Good riddance." Is all she says and goes back to her chili dog. I don't think I will ever eat a chili dog again. We sit with her and talk about our baby boy. Letting all of it go. Not dwelling on her brother or her parents.
Good riddance!

Thank you pretties.

I know the trial wouldn't have happened as quickly as it did. The justice system seems rather slow at times. I know this first hand. So please allow artistic lead way on this.
Enjoy!
