~ the Enchantress ~
Something moved in the branches above. A mountain lion stopped to look at me for a while. And then with a soft purr, it gave me an acknowledging nod and disappeared.
Any creature however dangerous are at our command. We are one of the most ancient of the werewolf settlements of North America.
My reverie was broken by the crunching of feet on snow and an advancing figure.
She was dressed in white and had a red cape which cast a shadow on her face.
Her honey-gold eyes were staring at me with an expression which was curiosity.
She moved forward a step. I stood still.
What was a human doing in this part of the forest? The weirdest thing was that the girl wasn't afraid of me..
I bared my canines.
She laughed.
"Aren't you one of them? The children of the moon?" she enquired.
I backed off. How did she know?
"I'm Poppy," she introduced herself, "Please come to a less fierce form."
"I'm Adolf," I introduced myself, turning back, "But how did you know about us?"
A trilling laugh rang out, causing butterflies in my stomach.
I felt an unnatural attraction for the strange girl, like an addiction to opium.
She came closer and cupped my face with her hands.
My mind screamed that it was wrong and that I shouldn't allow myself to be touched by the mysterious girl.
Without any warning, she touched her cold lips to mine. Immediately a shock ran through my body as my lips responded.
She chuckled, placing a hand on my bare chest, tracing the curves of my muscles.
"Adolf, do you like me?" her melodious voice seemed like an intoxicating elixir.
"Mmmm," I mumbled.
She kissed my neck. There was so much passion that I was drowning.
Suddenly, a shearing pain shot through me but was immediately followed by a fuzzy feeling, as numbness and fatigue took over suddenly. I staggered like a drunk man, still focusing on her mesmerizing lips and gorgeous eyes which devoured me.
"I do like you. But how you know what I am? " I asked between gasps, as her arms caressed my skin, sensually.
"I'm..." she began but at that moment, someone jumped out from the bush and pounced on her.
It was Aden.
Poppy intercepted his attack midway and tossed him.
He rolled over, got up and went for her throat before I could protest.
To my utter horror, Poppy caught his neck with bare hands, pounded him to the floor, opened her mouth wide and plunged her fangs into his artery.
I never realized that she was a vampire, the sworn enemy of werewolves, and that she was draining me.
They existed only in our myths.
"Guess we can never be friends. You people are uncompromising," she whispered sadly before disappearing like a flash of lightning.
My heart craved to meet the enchantress again.
And this time, it would be a battle for blood and of hearts, a treaty of trust.
