Nothing-Ness
Nothing makes you feel smaller, more trivial, than such a vast transformation inside your own mind while the world carries on, oblivious. Yet nothing is more freeing than to accept your smallness in the world.
My entire being seemed to be turned upside down but that smile didn't falter from my face. Years of experience had taught me not to let my emotions show on my face.
"It takes me more than a spark to kindle the fire."
He felt that spark for me, the same one that I felt long ago.
But what's the mockery of fate?
I had never imagined I would fall for someone owing to my not so good experience with men in my life. But here I was, hopelessly in love.
" We had too many barriers." his words seemed to be echoing like an empty gong through the hollow shell of what was me once.
Yes, barriers.
Language, religion, culture, maybe age and his family traditions. What else?
Everything in the world around was against us. But first love hurts. I've heard that but the thing with him is a bit complicated and depressingly inappropriate.
He never appreciated me as such and we've had a lots of tiffs, fights, ego issues and clashes almost everyday for a year. And now at the dusk of our time together, we're still struggling with our own feelings and ignoring the others'.
I had never imagined it'd take me through hell, this whole experience of falling in love. The world carries on as it is. A single soul lost in it's vastness isn't given any second glance as the materialistic world moves forward faster than light though fibre optics.
And hadn't I always known that I had to let him go? Why them does it bother me so much to a point that it is driving me to insanity?
What are we? Two small dots in this vast space called the world. Two small dots who may have been placed together by an invisible hand but instead we've been placed miles apart with a serpentine maze of ways between us, but each ending in a dead end.
How this feeling dawns on me and shattering all of my resolve that I'd ever fall in love again. With two controlling parents and restricting traditions and values that sometimes are like chains holding me back, there's nothing I wish for anymore.
There's a wish on this side, a desire on the other and the barriers we ourselves created are very much present. I just had one wish and how that wish comes back mocking to me? Even life feels cursed at times.
But in spite of all these, I feel we're just two blots of ink, sparring in a choreographed dance sequence, deadly yet gorgeous and none of us can break the formation as we continue to act out the ways life set us in, without questioning its validity.
The world continues to ignore us as it did, always and forever.
A/N The prompt I used was from Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig.
