The Dystopian Utopia (Dystopian Fiction)
Universe PU-D-30:
I held the sharp dagger, while standing over the corpse of the thief. I had slashed his throat after a long fight to survive. I had always feared this situation from the day I decided to enter my name for entry in The Rahasya City.
Being one of the 700 most influential cities of The Utopian World, Rahasya city had always been a dream city for me, who lived in the small settlement, a kilometre away from that city. According to the Global Laws of Utopian Government, these 700 cities were declared 'Hubs of economical and political development' and the citizens living here were given special citizenships. Nobody from outside, was allowed to enter the city. There was a special lottery process through which one can get entrance in the city.
I still remember that day. I was toiling in the small kitchen garden. Along with my father, I weeded the useless vegetation, when my younger brother came out shouting, "Tai! Your name is announced.... in THE LOTTERY!"
"Seriously?" I stood up while still having weeds in my hands, "Wow... with a scholarship and this lottery entry, soon I'll get admission in The Botanical Research Institute of Rahasya City (BRIRC)."
I followed my brother in the living room. We stood before the computer screen and the online 'Lottery for entrance' website flashed on it. As I saw my name: KATYAYANI MALUSARE in the list, I was overjoyed. I literally cried hugging my brother. I thought: Now all my dreams would come true. I'll study hard and then I'll get a job in that city along with permanent citizenship. And then I'll settle there with my family.
As the distracting thoughts of past drifted away from my consciousness, I clutched the dagger in my hand and began walking on my way to the girls' hostel for female students hailing from outside the city. The X Sector was the most dreadful part of the city and it was surprisingly alloted for residence of outsiders by government, who have temporary citizenship, as they came while going through Lottery process.
As I walked through the dark, silent lane of X sector, I remembered what was my mother's reaction: Oh dear....no... it's better that you apply in any other college. Why BRIRC? Haven't you heard that the outsiders who go there have really less rate of survival? Even Amish, your long lost cousin had gone to complete his college education in that city, still we don't have any clue where he is: alive or dead."
Now I can confirm that Amish was dead. I had killed him. The thief who was trying to murder me for my gold earnings was none other than Amish. Like many other outsiders, he might've ended up being influenced by bad environment. He might've been under debt. There were several assumptions.
I recognized him after I removed his black mask from his cold dead face. I killed him for only one reason: to survive.
