Creating history

lies in the past

from falling stars

it shimmers, at last,

drown before you breathe

keep the fire close to you

trapped inside but free to leave

darkness keeps it on the leash

jumping, stretching out to grasp

what lies beyond my cracked mask

Now, lying still

I do not understand

How I will kill

this castle of sand

run so very far

without ever arriving

It feels like a leash

it keeps me here

in this grieving space

I can't seem to escape

follow blindly

the path life seems to gift you

unknowing what I want to do

Do I continue or do I hop off?

from this one-way train 

that speeds through life

the answers don't come

will they, with time?

until that day arrives

I'll just close my eyes
