Caged Animal snip bit
Laughter and shouts filled the cool, dark night as the festival took place in the forest. In a clearing, where the trees have made a large circle you could see light being illuminated from a large bonfire where a group of happy folk sang and danced around the cheery glow, their faces breaking out in grins and smiles as their mouths formed the words to their song in their native tongue.
"Parrle Parrle, monto parrle. Cos kolo jo gela. Parrle parrle su kne kalay. Tu jo kesli kla."
Their chant for the fire to provide them warmth, to keep them safe from the winter storm that was to settle onto their lovely village in a matter of days, hours, minutes and seconds.
"Parrle, parrle, monto parrle. Cos kolo jo gela. Parrle, parrle, su kne kalay. Tu jo kesli kla."
It was a joyous time for them all. With the stars twinkling like diamonds in the blanket of the dark navy sky as the smoke and the light of the large bonfire traveled upwards, seemingly wanting to join the glittering beauty that was above it.
The dancers's bare feet pressed on the dry, luscious grass while they danced around, hopping from one foot to the other with their hands all joined up together creating a ring around the burning wood. But not all of them danced, others played music on the polished, wood, carved flutes as well as on the violins and the drums while others ate and talked amongst themselves. The night was not only full of happiness but it was full of magic, so much magic that it would make your skin tingle with it's energy. It would have been hard for anything to damper the spirit that was made by this magical folk right now, impossible even! But then that's what the Iguthi were known for, for creating happiness even in the darkest of times.
"Serishima! Come and dance with us! Take a break from that violin for a while, you're arms are going to fall off!" Shouted out a girl with long blue and blonde hair that were kept together in plaits as her silvery blue eyes gleamed with joy while she danced with her small group of friends
"Not before you're legs do, Carrie!" Serishima shouted back, poking her tongue out at her friend making her do the same.
"Hey where's Clare?" Shouted Megan, a girl with fluorescent pink eyes and black hair, about the same length as Carrie's.
"Where is she not? She's with Malin of course!" Serishi replied.
"Oh Malin, Malin! Help me please! Oh Malin, Malin kiss my cheek! Oh Malin, Malin love me, please! Oh Malin, Malin hunt for me!" The small group of friends sang in mocking glee.
"Oh be quiet!" Said a small girl with a auburn bob and purple eyes. She had her hands on her hips where her light grey skirt hung and had on a simple stone necklace that went with her armless forest green top. She gave her friends a hard cold glare for she didn't like to make fun of.
"There she is!" Shouted Alkissa. She was tall and lean with light icing pink hair that reached to her ankles in her plait meanwhile her eyes were grey.
"How was Malin?" Carrie asked batting her eyelids while her dark blue dress flowed out behind her while she continued to dance.
"Perfectly fine!" Clare huffed, annoyance written all over her face.
"Oh c'mon Clare! Lighten up! It's the winter festival!" Serishima said playing a new tune on her lovely violin.
"Yeah! It's not everyday that we get a festival like this! Especially one with Plaruin fruit!" Cried out Megan.
"I guess you're right." Clare admitted, a smile making it's way on her elvish face. "It's just that-"
A loud crash was heard just outside their clearing causing everyone to go silent. The dancing stopped, the music stopped, the laughter stopped the only noise that was heard was the crackling of the bonfire. Everyone had slowly turned to where the source of the noise was coming from, curious yet worried.
"Hello? Are you alright?" Asked a boy with fly away brown hair, freckles and orange eyes. Bravely he slowly walked in the direction where the noise came from. "Hello?" He asked again, only to be greeted by the cool silence.Everyone was holding their breath, waiting for something to happen. Anything. And at that moment something did happen.
A large seemingly hairy beast landed near the boy who was the closest to the large gum trees that had circled them all. The beast was large, it didn't seem to have hands or paws. Instead it had fingerless knuckles with long, jagged pieces of metal jutting out of where the bone was suppose to be poking through. Although it was quite dark where the beast was you could just make out the glimmers of metal in it's dark, mud, brown fur as well as it's large jaw which was open to expose it's large, razor, sharp like teeth where blood dripped on to the forest floor, and you could see it's bright blue eyes that pierced through the darkness. They were so bright and clear, they might as well have been lights.
The folk looked at the monster in horror, they had never seen it before in their lives. Not once. So they did the most logical thing that came into mind, they screamed and ran. It was chaos, parents picked up their children, siblings were looking for siblings, friends looking for friends, all of them trying to escape. But alas! They couldn't! They mysterious beast pounced on them all, consuming them in whole while knocking the sticks that was in the bonfire onto the trees and the poor souls of people trying to escape.
No one escape that night. The beast was too quick for them all. In the clearing now all can be discovered are the countless scorched bones, the once wonderful now burnt and broken instruments, the few broken lanterns that helped provide light for the festival and the millions of precious stones that several of the attendants had kept.
That was how Iguthi died and lost it's magic, that was also how six other tribes of magical folk died and lost their magic. By that mysterious beast, that beast that seemed to have disappeared after it consumed it's last tribe. The Jalrin. The most richest and powerful tribe in Elvania.
'No one survived that attack' said the neighboring states of Elvania but what if some people did? What if serval people in fact, just made it out? Either way, no one knows. And no one will ever know. Or will they?
