What is happening, Magnusites? Today, we have another Top 10 list. This time, we're gonna count down my Top 10 Favorite Video Game characters. This list was inspired by BraedimusSupreme, as was my Top 10 Waifus list.

10. Maris Brood (Star Wars Force Unleashed)

Maris Brood is a female Zabrak who used to be Shaak Ti's padawan until her master fell prey to a Sith assassin named Galen Marek who was Darth Vader's secret apprentice, codenamed Starkiller. After Shaak Ti was killed, Felucia fell to the dark side of the Force. Maris was hiding from Vader's Imperial Forces in a secret place known as the Rancor Graveyard which was guarded by her ferocious pet: a monstrous Bull Rancor.

When Galen was sent to Felucia by General Rahm Kota to rescue Senator Bail Organa, he fights both Maris and her pet. But before he kills her, Maris admits that all she wants is to get away from Felucia. Out of understanding of how she feels about falling prey to the dark side in a similar fashion as he did with the death of his father, Galen spares Brood's life and lets her go. When I played Star Wars Force Unleashed on Xbox 360, I always had fun fighting Maris and her Bull Rancor. It didn't matter what difficulty I played on, they were no match for me.

9. Kratos (God of War series)

Kratos was the son of Zeus and a mortal woman. He was a proud Spartan and became one of the most respected generals in the Spartan army. One day, his brother Deimos was captured by Ares and Athena because the Sisters of Fate said that a marked warrior would bring the destruction of Olympus. However, neither Athena nor Ares knew that they captured the wrong person which means that the marked warrior the Sisters of Fate were referring to was in fact, Kratos. Under a spell of madness that was sent to him by Ares, Kratos had slaughtered many innocent people including his own wife and daughter. After killing the Furies and escaping his blood oath to Ares, Kratos completed many tasks to atone for his sins. One of these missions was to kill Ares. Kratos succeeded in killing Ares and became the new God of War. However, Kratos proved to be a much more ruthless and destructive candidate than Ares. So Zeus tricked Kratos into putting his godlike powers into the Blade of Olympus to destroy the Colossus of Rhodes. Zeus betrayed Kratos and killed him. However, the Titan Gaia revived him and Kratos managed to escape from the Underworld. After killing the Sisters of Fate, Kratos used their time traveling mirrors to retrieve the Blade of Olympus and rescue a handful of Titans before Zeus could banish them, including Gaia. Kratos fought one god after another as well as a few Titans before finally confronting Zeus. After Pandora's death by the Flame of Olympus, Kratos killed Zeus and Gaia. Unfortunately, the death of each Olympian had world ending consequences. I used to watch my mother play the God of War games. My personal favorite among such occasions is when I watched her fight the fourth boss of God of War 3, who was one of Kratos' brothers: Hercules.

8. Raven (Tekken)

Not much is known about Raven aside from the X-shaped scar on his face. He is a ruthless agent from an international spy agency. In Tekken 6, he serves as an enforcer for the main protagonist of story mode, Lars Alexanderson. Raven's fighting style is Ninjutsu and he has a unique ability that allows him to create a hazy clone of himself for certain combos. He can also use that ability to create a Haze before performing certain attacks such as the Blind Ghost.

(0:58-1:01)

Raven is by far one of my favorite characters from the Tekken series. He was always the character that I selected for the Arcade, Arena, and Story modes. I always laid the smackdown on every candy ass that I came across.

7. Heishero Mitsurugi (Soul Calibur series)

Mitsurugi is a Samurai from the Third Age who is on a quest to find worthy foes and vanquish them. Mitsurugi is one of the most powerful characters in the Soul Calibur series. On Soul Calibur 4 and Soul Calibur 5, I created custom characters based off of myself, both of which use Mitsurugi's fighting style. I loved playing as Mitsurugi. And my favorite character to fight while playing as Mitsurugi was Raphael, who is a French nobleman with unequalled skills at Fencing. If I had the proper equipment, I would use Raphael's fighting style to create a custom character based off of Zorro.

6. Maxi (Soul Calibur series)

Maxi is a Nunchaku wielding pirate who loves to fight. His moves are powerful and he can strike with incredible speed. Using his fighting style on Soul Calibur 4 and Soul Calibur 5, I created a custom character based on one of my favorite movie stars who will also be shown in an upcoming Top 10 list: Bruce Lee. Maxi was a fun character to use and I always mopped the floor with any opponent that I fought against.

5. Z.W.E.I. (Soul Calibur 5)

(Refer to 1:08-1:09 for pronunciation of this character's name)

A mysterious character in Soul Calibur 5. Nobody knows his real name but he calls himself, Z.W.E.I. (Zwei). He is a tall, strong, handsome, dark and brooding young man with slightly tanned skin, turquoise eyes and black hair with patches of silver. On his bare torso, he wears a ragged, dark purple sleeveless jacket with chains attached to it. He also sports tight, unbuttoned black leather pants with two leather belts. His gloves and boots are outlined with fur and in pride of place, he has a large mooncrest tattoo on his chest.

Z.W.E.I. wields a three handled arming sword called Kruezgriff. He can also summon a lupine being called E.I.N. to fight by his side.

Thus, he was nicknamed: The Werewolf of Two Shadows.

(1:14-1:15 for pronouncing E.I.N.)

Z.W.E.I. is my most favorite character from Soul Calibur 5. He looks cool, and his moves are impressive especially since he can summon a werewolf-like spirit to fight by his side. I always had fun using him, unless I was fighting Nightmare. Because Z.W.E.I.'s range is low to mid-range. E.I.N. has a cooldown time after being summoned. But what's worse is that some of Z.W.E.I.'s moves leave him open to attack and if Nightmare gets a hit on you, he starts spamming attacks until he kills you which is quite easy for him to do since he has a long range from which he can hit you with Soul Edge. Despite the downsides, Z.W.E.I. is a cool character to use overall. And my favorite move is the Spinning Driver.

(6:13-6:16)

4. Jackson "Jax" Briggs (Mortal Kombat)

Jax is a member of Special Forces alongside of Sonya Blade. Jax is known for his cybernetic arms since he lost his organic ones because of Ermac. He also has a daughter, Jacqueline Briggs better known as Jacqui Briggs. His fighting style is based off of wrestling and Muay Thai. He even carries a grenade launcher. One the best moves that Jax can do is the "Gotcha!" Grab.

(Gotcha!)

Jax is an awesome character. In fact, there were a few times when I would wish that I had cybernetic arms like his. Then I could lay the smackdown on anybody foolish enough to mess with my family.

3. Johnny Cage (Mortal Kombat)

Johnny Cage is an actor that was bred from a Mediterranean war cult who breeds warriors that fight for the Elder Gods, which explains the green aura that surrounds his body during some of his attacks, such as the Shadow Kick.
Johnny learned a variety of martial arts, including Jeet Kune Do. He has a lot of cool moves to utilize. But I think his best move is the Nut Punch which can also be used to perform a Brutality as shown in Mortal Kombat X

2. Kung Lao (Mortal Kombat)

Kung Lao is a Shaolin monk from Earthrealm, and one of Raiden's best fighters. His style is Wing Chun, and he even utilizes his razor-brimmed hat in combat. Kung Lao can also use his hat to perform fatalities as well. He can create a whirlwind, or even teleport. Lao has also been shown to be capable of controlling his hat somehow. In the current Mortal Kombat timeline, Kung Lao is the champion of a new protector of Earthrealm who has replaced Raiden.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for. The number one spot on my Top 10 Favorite Video Game Characters goes to...

1. Liu Kang (Mortal Kombat)

That's right folks. The number one spot on this list goes to Earthrealm's new protector: Liu Kang, the god of Thunder and Fire. Liu Kang was once a mortal. But during a war against Kronika, Raiden made Liu Kang into a god. Liu Kang is a Shaolin monk with pyrokinetic powers that enable him to control Dragon Fire. When Raiden made him a god, not only did his pyrokinetic powers grow stronger since Earthrealm's Jinsei flows within him: but he also gained the power to control lightning, just like the former Thunder God. After killing Shang Tsung by erasing him from existence with power from the Hourglass, Liu Kang shaped the Sands of Time to forge a new era. One thing he did during that time was visit Kung Lao's ancestor: the Great Kung Lao, the latter of whom Liu Kang has chosen as his champion. But Liu Kang merely refers to him as Kung Lao. Liu Kang's fighting style is Jeet Kune Do, and he lets out high pitched battle cries while fighting just like Bruce Lee. He also wields a pair of Nunchaku that he can infuse with his Dragon Fire. As a pyrokinetic, Liu Kang can imbue his arms and legs with Dragon Fire to strengthen his already devastating attacks, and he can summon a dragon to fight by his side in combat during his Fatal Blow in MK11.

And that's another Top 10 list down. I hope you enjoyed this countdown. I'm Alienkiller3000. Be brave, stay wild. I'll see you in the next chapter.
