it's ya boi

okay so i was reading a sanders sides fanfic within the past month and the author occasionallyincluded 'songs of the week' in their author's notes, which i thought was a really cute idea (and introduced me to some b o p s) and i knew that i wanted to do it!

i tried to find that book and i can't for the life of me do so and it's driving me mADD so whoever i first saw do this, credit to you! also credit to all those authors who leave lists of the songs they listened to while they wrote a chapter, those are cool too :3

SO this is how it's gonna work: i'm gonna make one of these chapters every month and list songs i've been enjoying that month, maybe with a small explanation of why i like them.

it's pretty self explanatory let's be real-

also i was gonna limit myself to ten songs but that was hard so i have thirteen for this past month!

enough rambling, here are some of the songs i enjoyed in august:

1 | i'm not okay (i promise) - my chemical romance

sooo i finally got into my chemical romance!

and this was the first song i listened to cause virgil mentioned it in a video lol. at first listen i didn't like it cause it's pretty different to any else i've listened to in the past year (musicals), but it's one of my favourites now!

4 | the ghost of you - my chemical romance

^^ the music video for this one is so sad urgh

i really wanted to list every mcr song i've listened to thus far but i managed to cut it down to my four faves (don't worry this doesn't mean i don't think the black parade is a fucking emo aNtHeM)

5 | here comes a thought - steven universe

paggi20 reminded me of this song's existence and i haven't been able to stop listening since, it's so calming

6 | birds - terrence williams jr, ultimate storytime

terrence is so precious aw :3

7 | toxic - the barden bellas, pitch perfect 3

sooo i finally watched this movie and i don't really know what to make of it cause i've only seen it once and tbh the plot seemed kinda all over the place but i still loved it!

8 | i won't say (i'm in love) - hercules

i feel awful that i haven't seen this movie all the way through but i love meg so. much.

9 | after ever after 3

okay

i didn't like this at first cause it's a pretty big step from the last two, and jon hadn't uploaded in like two years

however when i went back to listen to it i fell in love i think it's probably the most potentially-offensive one so far and aLSO likely to be the last one so i shall treasure it

this song came on after one of my playlists ended and the vocals are sO SMOOTH? i loved philipa soo in hamilton and i'm so glad she got this role, i really want to listen to the whole cast recording at some point, i've had it saved for a while

12 | i can do better than that - the last five years

i have never seen this movie and honestly i have no idea what it's about but this song is realllly good probably cause anna kendrick sings it and she is a queen. again this is a song that came on after one of my playlists ended

13 | the bedroom down the hall (demo) - dear evan hansen

i have cried to this song many times urgh it's so sad, i love the new perspective it gives to the musical
