C.4- Striking goals

His face hardened with shock "Wha-"

"I want to learn how to fight."

"Why?"

"I almost got killed by some girl, and had nothing to defend myself with!"

He nodded his soft blue eyes glazed into mine "You do realize you would have to train in secret, if your father caught us... I don't know what he'd do."

"I do. Please..."
I begged.

His face flushed and rather than say something he simply nodded.

If I learned how to fight-- I could be helpful. I hate how just because I'm a princess people think all I do is smile and sit pretty.

"We should start today, follow me." He said.

Link grabbed his sheathed sword and walked out the room I followed after him. It toke about ten or so minutes from Link to finally stop, and declare this as the place they would secertly train in. It was by castle entance-- but far enough that no one could see or hear them.

There were large rocks that rised like they were mountains. Trees surrounded the area and some hung out on the rocks, in such natural beauty. Even more behind her was a cascade water with trees shadowing above it.

"It's beautiful." I said in awe.

"Isn't it? I fought it a while back..."

"I can't believe I've live in the castle so many years, and I never knew this existed."

I was telling the truth, I've never seen something so beautiful. The way the waterfall curved in a natural ark-- not to mention birds that were singing theirs songs.

Link set up targets, wooden dummies, and all kinds of training material around me. I sat on a log and flatten the skirt part of my dress-- only when he finished did I realize how scared I am.

What if for the love of Farore I couldn't fight?

"We'll start simple. Today all we're gonna do is see which weapon you work best with..."

"O- okay."

"Let's see... there's dagger, sword, axe, spear and then bow and arrow." Link said and ran a hand through his hair, before he handed me a dagger. "Use it on the dummie... "

The palm of my hand felt sweaty as I clamped the dagger in my fingers. I toke a deep breath I can do this... I can do this, I slashed the wooden dummie. I closed my eyes before it hit then opened my eyes again when I heard a soft whoosh.

I looked up at it and saw only a small cut across the piece of wood. Was that good-- or was that bad? I looked at Link to see his reaction. He signed and leaned against his sword.

"Your weapons definitely not the dagger."

I flushed a bright red and looked down, fearing he would see the embarrassment on my face. I was that bad? Maybe I'm just not cut out from fighting...

Though Link had something different in his mind, he stared at the waterfall for a minute than turned towards me. "You can use my sword." he gave me his sword.

Don't worry, it was the trainee sword he had a couple of hours ago. I gripped the hilt on the sword with right hand (since I'm right handed) and swung. I didn't close my eyes this time and I know when he shook his head I did terribly... again.

As if possible, the axe and spear seemed even more terrible than the dagger and sword had. It was so bad... I can't even explain it.

The last weapon was the bow which I toke from him, and stenched an arrow on the string. When I pulled back it felt natural-- without hesitation I released the arrow.

It hit.

I almost got bullseye.

I stood there in shock, looking back at the target then the bow. I've never touched a bow in my life yet when I pulled back it felt like I had used it my whole life and they say princesses can't fight.

Link smiled "That's your weapon."

Over the next two weeks, I went to practice with Link everyday. It was always at seven p.m we could go and always ten p.m when we came back. Nothing really went on in the castle whose two week-- no more ambushes.

I gotten kinda used to the idea of Link being back. Though I still didn't consider him as a 'friend' I think we were building our relationship back together quite nicely. Right now I was sneaking to my training ppace, which I now called Bow Falls.

I pushed against tree leafs that were blocking my path until I saw Link. He was sitting on tree stump, looking up at the gleaming sunlight shining apond us. When he saw me he smiled, stood up, and handed the bow he had gotten from the hyrulian knight's training equipment.

"Today your gonna learn how to aim property, so you'll rarely miss your target."

I took the bow from his hands "But isn't your weapon the sword?"

He nodded. "I am. Though I'm well-rounded so I know a thing or two about all of the weapons."

"Where did you learn how to use those weapons?"

Slience filled my ears, he looked away for me and stayed that way for a few seconds. He turned back to me and said "We should get started."

"First you want to grip it like this." He showed me with his own bow.

There was a russle in the bushes.

Link pushed me behind me and unsheath his sword, he toke a few step closer to the noise. Whatever was hiding decided to make the first move-- because it jumped out. It was a... wolf?

The wolf had dark black fur and piercing blood red eyes, it growled when Link took a step closer to it. The wolf jumped at me but I hit it's fount hind leg-- it wepted and ran away.

What was that...
