Mother, When Will You Return?
The sky hollered in agony,
the waves gushed angrily,
the breeze hugged gently,
to show them they aren't alone.
The children's cries echoed,
their stomachs growled,
for they have lost a part of their soul,
their mother.
Their mother was taken away
by a lethal virus,
leaving them in this victimized world,
with nothing but her memories.
The one who kept them safe
like an umbrella does,
from heat and rain of life
is now gone.
The eldest girl in the family,
shoulder the family,
from crumbling down into ashes,
leaving her dreams behind.
Her heart crush every night
when she sees her younger sister,
dial her mother's phone and whisper,
"Mother, when will you come? I miss you..."
A/N:
This poem is inspired by an article I read about orphaned children because of the pandemic. My heartfelt condolences to all of them who have lost their loved ones during the pandemic.
Dedicated to @Red-Offshoulder-Girl for her support :)
