ODESSA PLACED THE BLUNT SHE HAD ROLLED to her lips as the scent of smoke cleared the air and filled her lungs.Smoking was something she rarely indulged in but it had been a hell of forty-eight hours.For her at least. Pope looks at her but soon shakes his head with a sigh making her let out a little laugh. "What?" Oddie asked, her voice laced with amusement as she held the blunt between her fingers. She tilted her head, blowing a slow stream of smoke into the night air. "Your lungs are screaming right now" He replied, making her laugh as she passed the blunt to Kiara. "They'll be fine" She muttered, making Kiara nod in agreement as John B approached with JJ in tow. "Well, that went well." Pope said with a tone laced in sarcasm. "What's supposed to be the plan now?" Odessa asked, exhaling smoke, making Pope scrunch his face up. "I think I know how we're going to find the guy who owns the boat" John B said, holding up the motel key as Pope immediately shook his head. "No, no, we don't know whose room that is. It could belong to anyone." Pope objected looking towards anyone for support prompting Odessa to give him an encouraging nod. "This could be some Narcos type shit" Odessa nod as Pope agreed, confused by her reasoning. "More of a reason I'm in" JJ said tossing Kie the keys as Kiara smiled widely. "Come on guys, I'll keep lookout" She replied following JJ down the dock as John B shrugged. "Two against three guys, c'mon" He said pushing them down the dock. Odessa sighed, slipping her hands into the pockets of her jean shorts as she trudged along.

"This is how people end up on true crime podcasts, you know."

JJ whistled in surprise, muttering an "I thought the Chateau looked bad" as they pulled into the sketchy looking motel. "This place is a shit show" John B said, agreeing as Odessa whistled. "True crime podcast, here we come" She muttered groaning as JJ tussled her by her shoulders. "Motel or meth lab" Kie wondered to no one in particular as Pope turned to her. "You be the judge" Pope replied scoffing as the boat continued to weave through the trashed swamp. "Doesn't look like a place, someone with a Grady-White stays" John B spoke as Pope shook his head. "No, Looks like a place someone with a grady white gets killed" He said correcting John B as Odessa grabbed his hand out of pure instinct prompting Pope to turn to her confused, still relishing in the fact his hand was with hers. "Alright, This is your captain speaking! HMS Pogue coming in for landing" JJ spoke into his hand playfully, hopping off the boat as John B parked the boat. He hollered as he tied the boat so it wouldn't drift off.

"We good?"

"Yeah, we good"

"Hey." Pope spoke, stopping John B as he leaned his arms over the metal bar. He pointed at JJ. "Don't let him do anything stupid." Odessa said finishing Pope's statement as JJ smirked letting out "Oh we will". John B shook his head along with JJ. "I'm not making any promises" He said looking towards the two. "We tried" Pope said as the two retreated back. "Uh, be careful" Kiara said handing something as Odessa turned to Pope with a shocked look on her face, mouthing an 'Oh?'. "I mean it" She said still in that soft tone as the rest of the group looked at the interaction uncomfortably as John B let out a small smile as he nodded going off with JJ. As soon as the two boys were out of sight, Odessa let out the cackle she had been holding in. "What?" Kie spoke turning around as Odessa continued to laugh. "Be so very careful John B" Her and Pope teased as Kie flipped the pair off. Odessa continued to laugh, an almost silent laugh as Kie hit her across her head making her frown.

"Ouch"

"Biggest Pet Peeve?" Pope asked the two girls. "Easy, giving one percent to the environment" Kie spoke as Odessa agreed with her, nodding. "What's wrong with that?" Pope wondered as Odessa sighed laying back down on the boat. "We only have one earth dude." She said shortly. "We should be giving it one hundred percent, bare minimum" Kie finished off as Odessa pointed to her, signalling her agreement. "Right, that's not fiscally sound" Pope rebutted as Odessa rolled her eyes looking up as a car approached. "Neither is destroying the planet we have to live on" Kiara rebutted to his rebuttal as Odessa's eyes widened. "Fuck, Cops" She spoke as the two other teenagers turned to where she looking towards.

"Shit"

"Call them"

"Can't cell towers down," Odessa said, getting up from where she sat. "If I lose my merit scholarship,I'm gonna kill someone" Pope sighed as Odessa shook her head. "You won't" She said definitively to the boy as they ducked behind the motel sign. They all watched as they headed up the stairs to the room where John B and JJ were in. "Fucking shit" Odessa sighed out as they all raced towards the window. "Okay, do something. Do something" Kiara panicked as Pope tried throwing rocks at the window, missing horribly. "Oh my fucking'-" Odessa said rolling her eyes as Kiara and Pope started to argue about the Mathletes. She picked up a rock, chucking it at the window waiting a second before John B popped his head out. "COPS!" She whisper-shouted towards her friend watching his eyes widen before he disappeared back into the room. Odessa grabbed Pope and Kie's hands running back to the boat. "Should we peel?" Kiara wondered to the group, making Odessa immediately shake her head.

"Hell no"

All three of the teens watched their two friends climb out of the window and hide on the brick ledges of the window. Oddie felt her heart pound against her chest as the two boys tried not to fall. "No, Seriously should we peel?" Kiara asked as Pope muttered a 'maybe' as Odessa kept quiet. "God, I can't watch" She muttered, turning away as JJ dropped something making a large clattering noise. Pope suddenly grabbed her hand, making her duck down her body as they were now dangerously close to one another. "Jesus, we're friends with idiots" She muttered, making him let out a small chuckle. "He's gone" Kie whispered as Pope pulled them both up. They all sat in silence as they tried to recap on what happened.
