Talk to Him
Dream's pov
"Dream, can you hang out with Fundy today?" Wilbur asked as I ate my toast.
"Yeah... sure." I nodded, noticing Fundy following Wilbur around the kitchen while the older made him food.
"I wanted to go to the library... and sign up for a library card." Fundy said shyly.
"Yeah, we can go there, it'll be fun." I smiled, watching Fundy blush and look away. My curiosity spiking as I finished my breakfast and went upstairs to get ready. Fundy always blushed when I talk to him, I wonder what that's about...
"Dream, can I come with you guys?" Tubbo asked as he walked into my room without knocking.
"Tubbo, please knock before entering." I sighed, grabbing my backpack off the floor. "But yeah, you can come."
"Yay! I'm gonna get so many books." He said happily. "Thank you, Dream, you're the best! I'm gonna get my hoodie, don't leave without me!" He called and ran off, going to his room. I chuckled and went downstairs, waiting at the door for Tubbo. Fundy was already there, ready to go. I heard the sound of more than one person running down the stairs and looked up to see Tommy, Tubbo, and Ranboo all standing there looking at me. Great, I guess I'm babysitting them all today too.
"Okay, let's go." I said, not starting an argument about taking them all since wherever Tubbo goes Tommy and Ranboo follow.
"Dream, can you return the books I left on the table?" Wilbur called from somewhere near the laundry room.
"Sure." I called back, grabbing the small stack of books, most of them looked like they were Techno's and a few were from Wilbur. I stuffed them into my bag and walked out the door, all four boys following after me.
Tubbo sung to himself as Tommy and Ranboo walked on either side of him, stopping every few streets to pick a stray flower that grew from between the concrete, mostly dandelions. Fundy didn't talk much, walking next to me as I led them to the library. I could tell that he was watching me but I didn't mind since it wasn't an unwelcome gaze. Fundy was much more friendly than the harsh New Yorkers who would definitely run you over if you got in their way.
We got to the library and I returned the books into the slot as I told everyone to meet me at the front desk in 20 minutes. The boys all ran off leaving me with Fundy.
"Right, so, let's get you a library card." I said, leading him up to the desk.
"Hey, Dream." Quackity grinned when he saw me.
"Hi." I waved, leaning against the counter. "This is Fundy, he wants to sign up for a library card." I said and Quackity nodded, getting out the paper.
"Just adding it to Wilbur's address and information?" He asked and I nodded, watching him write everything out since we knew the information. He got out a new card, scanning it and handing it over to Fundy. "Here you go."
"Thank you... you know each other?" Fundy said and I nodded.
"Yup, I've known Quackity since I was a kid." I said causing Quackity to chuckle.
"Yeah, he's been blessed to know me for years." He teased making my roll my eyes.
"Whatever, dude, have you see. Karl around?" I said and Quackity shook his head.
"Karl is out of the city, won't be back for a week." He said making me groan.
"If you ever see him around let me know. I'm gonna see how the guys are doing. Come on, Fundy." I said as Quackity waved. Fundy followed after me as I found the others all looking at books. "Pick out some before we leave." I told Fundy who nodded and went to look at some books.
"Dream, they have new bee books. And a book about growing flowers." Tubbo said as he held the books up to me.
"That's good, we can try to garden again before it gets too cold." I promised causing the other to smile happily.
"Everyone pick out some books?" I asked, all of them nodding as they went to the desk to get them checked out.
"Dream, I think you would like this book." Ranboo said, handing me a book about the Greek Gods.
"Thanks, bud, I'll give it a try." I smiled, signing it out, everyone stuffing their books into my backpack since they didn't wanna carry them. I sighed, walking a little slower due to all the books weighing me down.
"Want me to carry your bag?" Fundy offered.
"Thanks but I got it. You don't wanna carry this all the way home." I assured, giving him a genuine smile causing him cheeks to turn pink. "You keep blushing whenever I talk to you." I pointed out after a long moment.
"Oh uh, it's just a little chilly is all." He rushed, still not looking at me.
"Oh really?" I asked, taking a few bigger steps so I was walking backwards in front of him so we were face to face.
"Y-yeah... you shouldn't walk like that, you might trip." Fundy said, turning his head down so he was staring at our shoes.
"I'll be fine. Come on, look at me." I teased, grinning like an idiot.
"Dream, tell Ranboo to stop touching me!" Tommy yelled making me cringe at how loud he was. People around us looked making my groan as I turned to them and put Tubbo in the middle so Tommy and Ranboo were separated.
"Please don't be so loud in public." I sighed, walking behind them to make sure they didn't start to bicker like they normally did. Fundy followed us, his head low as he walked making me feel bad for teasing him. "Hey, I was only joking." I said softly as I nudged him.
"I know, it's okay." He assured. I nodded and got them all home, giving them their books out of my bag.
"Dream, can we talk to you for a second?" Wilbur said when he saw me.
"Yeah... yeah, just give me a second." I said, having Tubbo his stack of books and watching him run off. "What's up?" I asked, walking into the office where Wilbur did most of his work, Techno sitting in a chair next to the desk.
"Well, I was talking to Techno and he said he found you a job at a diner just down the road. He knows the owners and they have an opening." Wilbur smiled. I knew he was just doing what he thought was best for me so I couldn't be upset with him but Techno's blank stare made my skin crawl.
"Oh, that's great..." I said weakly, forcing a small smile.
"It is. I know how you wanted to get a job and this sounds like a really good position. You just have to seat people and take their food orders." Wilbur smiled.
"They want you to start in two days. They'll teach you everything." Techno said and I nodded, my shoulders slumping as I looked down.
"Yeah... uh, thanks..." I said softly, turning to leave and going right up to my room, shutting the door behind me as I slumped against it, letting my legs give out as I slid to the floor.
I never get to pick what to do with my life. Everyone around me tells me what to do and I do it. I just wanted to do something myself and make Wilbur proud. Techno always has looked down on me no matter what I did. He thought he was better than me in every way... and maybe he is...

"I'm leaving for the night." I called, everyone saying their goodbyes as I left, not bothering to glance at Techno who watched me leave. I let my legs move on their own until I found myself at Sapnap's door. I sighed and knocked, hearing him moving inside before the door opened.
"Dream, hey." He said happily as I stepped into his apartment, that's when he saw my face. "Hey, what's wrong?" He asked, I hugged him tightly, pressing my face into the crook of his neck. He held me close and picked me up, carrying me to his couch and sat me on his lap. He rubbed my back soothingly, rocking us back and forth. He let me cling to him like a child as I tried to just relax and not cry. I don't even know why I felt like crying over something like that but my emotions were all over the place. Some time went by before I sighed softly, sinking into his touch and enjoyed the warmth his body gave off. I didn't feel as bad as I did before but still felt a little off. I just didn't want to think about any of that anymore.
"Better?" Sapnap asked softly when he noticed that I was staring up at him from my spot cuddled to his chest.
"Yeah... thanks." I mumbled softly, giving his cheek a kiss. He chuckled and kissed my forehead.
"No problem... do you wanna talk about it?" He asked and I bit my lip.
"I just... Techno has been giving me a hard time about not having a job and he found me a job so I gotta go in in two days... I just never get to decided what I do with my life and I'm just upset about it I guess." I said, feeling the weight of the day melting away as he listened.
"Yeah... I knew he was giving you a hard time but I didn't know it upset you this much. I'm sorry, Dream... you said yes to going to this job?" He said softly and I nodded. "Well... maybe you could tell Wilbur how it all made you feel, he's pretty understanding from what you've told me."
"I don't wanna disappoint him though. He does so much for us." I mumbled.
"Dream, you aren't gonna disappoint him. He cares about you and it's good to tell him how you feel. Please... try to tell him, okay?" Sapnap urged and I couldn't help but nod.
"Okay... yeah, I'll tell him tomorrow." I nodded and Sapnap smiled.
"Good boy... now, let's forget about all the stressful stuff and relax. I'll order us some Chinese food and we can watch a movie." He said, setting me on the couch as he got up to get the little menu he had stuffed into a box on top of the fridge. I smiled and watching him, letting myself relax on the couch and pull a blanket around myself.
The takeout food got there in no time and he let me pick the movie we watched. I picked Revenge of the Sith which made Sapnap chuckle because he knew it was my favorite movie.
"Wanna cuddle?" He asked, sitting next to me. I nodded, scooting down and leaning against his side, my head on his chest. He smiled, wrapping his arm around me as we watched the movie and ate, just relaxing like nothing else mattered.
