Chapter Seven: Alone

Thorn woke up in a cave next to the ocean. "Pine! Oww! My head!" He looked around oh yeah, Pine is gone. And so is the forest. "Thorn! Help me!" His mother. He looked around frantically trying to find his mother. "Where are you?!" He waited for an answer. Then he saw his mother out in the ocean. "MAMA!!!" He raced outside and ran into the ocean. He jumped back as his black paws touched the cold, foamy water. "It's ok, stay strong Thorn!" The water swallowed her and she was gone. "MAMA!!! Please come back." He hopped along the shore, screaming and crying. Just hoping to see his mother. "Mama!" He kept walking. Day after day, but still no sign of his mother. He walked for four days strait, until he found a cave to rest in.

He slept the day away until he decided, it was no use. She wasn't coming back, and there's nothing he could ever do! He lost his whole family, and it was all his fault! He couldn't take it anymore. He was going to try once more, then, if nothing came, he would end all his suffering.

He walked, and walked, then he spotted a cat in the distance. "Mama!" He ran to the cat, his heart pounding. "I've missed you so..." It wasn't his mother. It was Dove and her mother. "What's wrong?" The grey she-cat asked. "I can't find my, mama." He said, so quietly she could barely hear him. "We'll keep an eye out for her. Come on, let's go back to the cave." She herded them back into the large cave and gave them a, partially eaten fish to eat. "Thank you, Dove." She looked at him, not noticing him. "My name is Dove, what's yours?" He looked up at her. "Thorn." They started eating the fish, it was pretty good, even though he hadn't eaten for a while. They sat in the cave. "Come on kits. It's time to sleep." She pulled them closer to her on the bed. Then he fell asleep.

"Mama! Why?" He found his mother, but she was dead. She had drowned in the ocean.
