Chapter 47: Where Do They Go From There?

On Asgard, Thor and Jamie knelt at the foot of the throne before Odin in the now fixed throne room.

(A/N Jamie's outfit above.)

"You once said there would never be a wiser King than me. You were wrong. The alignment has brought all the realms together. Every one of them saw you offer your life to save them. The same for you, Lady Jamie. What can Asgard offer its new King in return?" Odin wondered.

"My life," Thor answered, he stood, helped Jamie up, and continued, "Father, I cannot be King of Asgard. I will protect Asgard and all the realms with my last and every breath, but I cannot do so from that chair. Loki for all his grave imbalance understood rule as I know I never will. The brutality, the sacrifice...It changes you. I'd rather be a good man than a great King."

"You already are," Jamie told him, placing a hand on his shoulder with a smile and he returned it.

"Is this my son I hear? Or the woman he loves?" Odin asked.

"When you speak, do I never hear Mother's voice?" Thor wondered.

Odin sighed and looked down.

"This is not for Jane, Father. She does not know what I came here to say. Now forbid me to see her or say she can rule at my side, it changes nothing," Thor explained.

Odin sat on the throne and stated, "One son who wanted the throne too much, another who will not take it. Is this my legacy?"

"Loki died with honor. He did to make sure Jamie was safe. I shall try to do the same. Is that not legacy enough?" Thor pointed out.

Odin nodded in agreement. Thor then offered Mjölnir back to his father.

"It belongs to you. If you are worthy of it," Odin told him.

"I shall try to be," Thor said.

"I cannot give you my blessing, nor can I wish you good fortune," Odin replied.

"I know," Thor understood.

He and Jamie turned to leave until Odin spoke once more.

"If I were proud of the man my son had become, even that I could not say, I would speak only from my heart," he remarked.

"And what will become of Jamie?" Thor asked.

"I don't see any more reason to be here. I disobeyed his orders and now Loki is dead because of me," Jamie said.

"No. It wasn't your fault. He wanted you alive just as much as you wanted him to be. He died for you," Thor assured.

"Sadly, my son, she is correct that her services are no longer required," Odin replied sadly to Thor then told Jamie, "But I am eternally grateful that you were able to see the goodness in Loki, despite all he has done."

"Thank you, Odin. I will always love Loki, even after the end of time," Jamie replied.

Odin nodded to her and Thor hugged her.

"You've been like a younger sister to me through this. I'm proud to call you that," Thor whispered.

"I'm proud to call you my big brother," Jamie whispered.

They parted then looked to Odin.

"Go, my son. I must talk to Lady Jamie alone," he told Thor.

"Thank you, Father," Thor thanked.

Odin and Jamie watched Thor leave, then Odin shape-shifted to reveal it was Loki the whole time.

"No, thank you," Loki said.

Jamie's eyes widened in shock, realizing whose voice she heard. She slowly turned around to see Loki, sitting on the throne with a smile on his face. He stood, placed the scepter down, and walked toward her. Jamie walked towards him until they met halfway.

"Jamie..." Loki started.

Jamie slapped him, making him smirk.

"Sorry. I had to make sure you weren't an illusion," she said.

"It's alright," he responded.

She then leapt on him, hugging his neck as tears formed in her eyes. He hugged back, breathing her in. They parted and Jamie crashed her lips onto his, which he eagerly returned. When they parted, she rested her forehead on his.

"What happened to you? I thought you were dead. I almost committed suicide so I could be with you again," Jamie asked as tears continued to fall.

Loki wiped them away and answered, "I had to make them believe I was. I came back here as a guard and took the throne."

"But where's Odin?" she questioned.

"He is...not here. I just couldn't let anyone know I was alive," he said.

"You could've at least let me know before I almost died," Jamie pointed out.

"I know. I'm sorry," Loki apologized.

She eventually smiled and caressed his cheek. Then she remembered something.

"Why are you letting me go back to Earth? I am immortal. Don't you want to be with me?" she asked.

"Of course I do. I would love for you to be my queen. But if you remain here, you'd be in constant hiding and everyone would know I was alive. I can't risk that," he answered.

Jamie nodded in understanding, but looked to the ground. He lifted her face to his and kissed her.

"But I promise that we will be together, even after the end of time," he promised when they parted.

She smiled and hugged him. When they parted again, he kissed her hand and she kissed his cheek. She started going down the stairs and walked a little ways toward the exit until she stopped and looked back at Loki with a smile.

"I love you, Loki," she said.

"I love you too, Jamie," he returned.

She couldn't help but smile as he shape-shifted back to Odin and she left to see Thor.

They made it the BiFrost and went to see Jane. Thor and Jane kissed for a while before she hugged Jamie. Things were definitely going to be crazy after this.
