Chapter 10: Needing to See Jane
Thor went straight to the BiFrost to talk with Heimdall.
"You're late," Heimdall said.
"Merriment can sometimes be a heavier burden than battle," Thor told him.
"Then you're doing one of them incorrectly," Heimdall remarked.
Thor laughed lightly and responded, "Perhaps."
"How is our newest guard?" Heimdall asked.
"She is doing well. From what I've seen, she seems fond of Loki, which I did not expect," Thor admitted.
"Well, let us hope that it is out of the goodness of her heart," Heimdall said.
"Yes. How fare the stars?" Thor wondered.
"Still shining. From here I can see nine realms and ten trillion souls," Heimdall answered.
Heimdall placed his sword into the control panel in the center of the observatory. As he walked to Thor, the BiFrost moved to show what Heimdall was going to talk about.
"You recall what I told you of the Convergence?" Heimdall asked.
"Yes. The alignment of the worlds. It approaches, doesn't it?" Thor replied.
"The universe hasn't seen this marvel since before my watch began. Few can sense it, even fewer can see it. But while it's effects can be dangerous, it is truly beautiful," Heimdall explained.
"I see nothing," Thor said.
"Or perhaps, that is not the beauty you seek?" Heimdall pointed out.
Thor chuckled then asked, "How is she?"
"She's quite clever, your mortal. She doesn't know it yet, but she studies the Convergence as well. Even--" Heimdall began.
But he stopped, a little worry showing on his face.
"What?" Thor asked, sensing this.
"I can't see her," Heimdall answered.
