I'm getting into Lana Del Ray again

And I'm finding it increasingly easier to lie and get away with it ( ◠‿◠ )

Roman and Virgil were roommates in their college dorm rooms. They didn't first meet in college, and actually asked if they could share rooms before the start of the year - they first met a few years ago when Roman moved to town, a new boy in a new school people expected him to be shy and not talk to many but he came into school with a confidence of a peacock and quickly rose to the top of the popularity charts in a week.

He joined the drama clubs, performed in nearly every single play the school held, and quickly became known as the flamboyant, gay, arrogant prince-like boy he would carry on with for probably the rest of his life. He was dramatic and very extroverted, the complete opposite to Virgil, which was why they became such close friends so quickly.

They balanced each other out, like a perfect weight on a set of scales - once Roman saw him being verbally bullied he stepped in and shut down the group of children just like that, sending them on their way to leave Virgil alone forevermore. The two hit it off in that first conversation and since Roman had done everything he could to be flirtatious, friendly, inviting, trusting, caring, loving - Virgil pretended to not notice but both boys knew he adored it.

Only a year later did the boys basically know everything about one another - Virgil felt his heart warm considerably when Roman trusted him enough to tell him his insecurities and instantly Virgil stopped using certain (empty) insults in their banter, later on Virgil admitted to him his own insecurities, worries about himself and how bad his anxiety actually was - even going so far as to tell him he goes to therapy and needs to take pills often.

Virgil expected something bad, instead Roman was the most supportive person in his life, second to his single dad (Patton) who Virgil would cherish forever.

Patton approved of Roman and after getting permission from him, Roman asked out Virgil who after jokingly contemplating it, answered with a yes. Their date that same day consisted of their first kiss and they've never regretted it once.

Have they had arguments? Of course, and there would be more, but nothing to ever make either too mad or annoyed, just small lovers tiffs they get over with a few kisses, cuddles and apologies.

They were in love and even if Virgil didn't say it as much as Roman, he felt it just as passionately as the drama-boy did.

However, there was one thing Virgil hasn't told Roman yet. Something that still makes him severely anxious, worried, fretted - a condition he was born with and covers up with makeup every day of his life. Roman never commented on it, not once, he doesn't force his boyfriend to wipe it off and honestly doesn't mind he has never seen Virgil's face without makeup, but Virgil does.

He feels guilty - and deep down knows Roman will still love him, but the 'what if's' make him terrified, he really can't lose Roman, not now, not after everything they've been through - he loves this stupid, musical-adoring boy and the idea of Roman leaving him makes his heart break and tears sting at his eyes.

But he knew he would have to tell him - he couldn't bare the idea of Roman finding out himself.

"Virgie, listen to me" Patton's voice said through the phone speaker, Virgil admitted his worries to his dad, hoping to get some sort of advice on the situation he was stuck in.

"You don't have to do anything until you are ready - and when you are, I am one hundred and one percent sure Roman will still find you just as handsome as he always has. You know what he's like! Every few seconds he rambles about you in one way or another, whether it be a new, cute habit he noticed, or your eyes, your clothes, your painted nails - gosh, Kiddo, he's amazing, and if he hurts you, tell me instantly, he will not get away with hurting my boy" Virgil chuckled a little at Patton's sudden stern voice, but he knew his dad wasn't too serious, as he was laughing too, but he also knew Patton would come here probably the same day to give Roman a massive, embarrassing telling off.

"But, Virgil, I'm serious. He loves you and when you're ready - tell him" Patton encouraged and Virgil sighed out, nodding his head in agreement, more for himself as Patton can't see him.

"I will, thanks, I..love ya, dad"

Patton giggled, Virgil could hear his smile through his words. "Love you too, Kiddo! I gotta dash - I just saw Logan walking by! And there's a movie on today and I want to take him- it's about space! He'll love it, right?"

Virgil snorted, "dad, go after him!"

"You're right! Bye, Kiddo! Love you!" And with that Patton was gone, Virgil had to hang up as he forgot to, distracted by the attractive man he met at the park a few weeks ago. Virgil was happy for him - he hadn't dated someone in years, but Virgil will only approve once meeting him in real life. Patton'll call everyone nice unless they kick a dog.

Later that day, Virgil waited in his room, foot tapping against the ground. The more he thought about it the more he realised something - he was ready. And, like his dad said, Roman will still love him...he hoped, anyway.

The door to their room opened and Roman stepped in, holding a pile of books and work. He let out a heavy groan, dropping it all onto his bed covered with red and golden sheets. "The professors are out to get me!" He accused, throwing his bag towards his desk. "Look at all this work! I'm going to die!" He overdramatised as usual, plopping down onto his bed not-so-gracefully and groaning again.

Virgil wanted to laugh but he was too anxious to do so.

Noticing his silence, Roman looked over at his boyfriend, lips pulling into a concerned frown. "What's the matter, Dearest?" Roman asked, walking across the room and sitting beside him, taking one of his hands into his. Virgil breathed out, not meeting his gaze, just squeezing Roman's hand in gratitude.

"I..." he swallowed, mouth dry. "I need to do something" Virgil told him, meeting his eyes for a moment before he stood, telling Roman to wait here while he disappeared into the attached bathroom. Confused, Roman waited, not asking anything, knowing questions overwhelmed his boyfriend when he was in these situations.

He waited a few minutes, listening to the running water of the tap all the while, thoughts hurrying through his mind, wondering what Virgil could want to show him. He didn't notice the water stop or hear the door open, he looked up when Virgil cleared his throat, however, and when he caught sight of his face, he quickly understood everything.

Across his face Virgil had a few white patches.

Roman hesitated before standing up, closing the distance between them, reaching up to cup his face. "May I?" He whispered and Virgil nodded, hands trembling, but he leans into Roman's hands that held his face so softly it made the tears prick at Virgil's eyes even more.

"It's um-" Virgil coughed, eyes still screwed shut, he didn't want to see his boyfriend's expression. "Vitiligo?" Roman finished for him which surprised the slightly shorter boy but he nodded, hoping because Roman knew what it was he would be okay with it.

"Is this why you were anxious?"

Virgil nodded, not trusting his voice.

"Oh, Dearest" Roman whispered, pulling him into a warm embrace, one the boy melted into, hiding his face in his boyfriend's shoulder.

"Virgil" Roman murmured next to his ear, "Virge, you're beautiful" and that made him crack, tears finally slipping down his cheeks, clinging to Roman and silently crying, wondering how the Hell he got so lucky to have such a kind boyfriend.

Roman helped him sit down on their bed (aka Virgil's bed, the one they cuddle on the most as his mattress was inarguably better), still holding him close, silently kissing the crown of his head, rubbing soothing circles into his back to help ease and calm him down. It worked, and soon Virgil was sitting up, wiping away his tears.

"I-I'm" He sniffled, "I'm sorry I-I didn't tell you sooner" Virgil's voice cracked, "I-I just loved you too much and-and...I didn't-...I didn't want you to leave me" Virgil admitted, desperately trying to keep strong, he didn't want to cry again but he could feel it clogging his throat.

"Virgil, look at me" Roman murmured and he did so, letting Roman cup his face again. "I will never, ever leave you, Dearest. I love you, every single thing about you - with or without makeup you are the most beautiful boy I have ever met - that I will ever meet. Even more beautiful than I" this made the two boys chuckle watery, hugging each other close and acting like cheesy, romantic saps who resorted to kicking off their shoes and jeans, cuddling comfortably on their bed.

"Thank you so fucking much, Ro" Virgil sniffled, never before had he felt comfortable not wearing makeup around anyone (apart from his dad), this was new and exhilarating, he didn't feel like he was hiding anything anymore and he could finally, fully relax, knowing Roman still loved him, still found him attractive - he felt like he could cry tears of joy for months.

"No, Dearest, thank you. Thank you for trusting me and showing me - I don't know what I did to deserve you, but I'm going to cherish you for as long as I live" Roman pressed a lingering kiss to his forehead and Virgil flushed across his entire face, hiding it in his boyfriend's chest.

"Stop" he whined without meaning it, "the cheese...it hurts"

Roman laughed and held him tighter, closing his eyes like Virgil. "I'm going to compliment you every single day, Virgil, and I won't stop until you can look in a mirror and see nothing but beauty"

Yes, Virgil began to cry again, but he was an emotional boy that afternoon, and if Roman carries on he thinks he will have to resort to kissing him to shut him up.

And he did. And it worked.

Hope you liked it :)
