Trespassing - Roman & Logan & Virgil & Patton

"This isn't a good idea" Virgil groaned, arms crossed, walking beside his three friends through the alleyway. It was dark out, the time nearing eleven pm, and they were all heading towards a strangers house, ready to sneak up onto their property, somehow find a way inside and manage to steal back what they stole from them. How they came to this conclusion was beyond Virgil, but he knew trying to get it back any other way would be pretty difficult - with no proof they couldn't get the police involved, and they wouldn't give it back if they just asked.

"Of course it isn't" Logan responded, "but we are doing it anyway" he confirmed, eyes set with determination. The item they stole specifically belonged to Logan, so Virgil could see why he was so set on this. The item itself was a ring - now, Logan wasn't into jewellery in any means, he never has and never will wear them, but this ring means a lot to him, it was given to him by his mother and he plans to give it to his future husband.

Roman and Virgil both have bets that that future husband will be Patton. Virgil was honestly quite surprised Patton came along to do this, but in the end he could see why, Patton would do anything for his friends.

They all stopped when they came up to the back of the house, peeking at the garden over the tall fence surrounding it.

"How are we going to do this?" Logan asked, internally cursing they didn't create a plan earlier in the day.

"This might take some time, won't it? How long do we have before they come back?" Patton worried, bouncing on the balls of his feet, a nervous habit they all became accustom to.

"Well, the quicker you're into it the quicker you're out of it" Roman responded and with that he jumped the fence in one swift movement, grinning at them from the other side. "C'mon, slow pokes!" He whispered and stuck to the shadows as he neared the house but it was dark inside, the cars weren't in the driveway, no one was home.

"He does realise he's the only athletic one in the group, right?" Virgil harshly whispered, glaring up at the fence he knew he would struggle with. "I don't think he realises anything" Logan responded before gripping the top of the fence, pulling himself up and dramatically kicking his feet against the wood to push himself up, finally swinging his leg over the side at the top, sitting there a moment to regain some breath before he swung the other over and jumped down, landing in the space between the fence and the bushes.

"You next, Virgie" Patton encouraged, helping Virgil lift himself up. He wanted to do the same as Logan but as he lifted his second leg it caught and he fell to the ground with a loud huff and groan of pain. He glowered at Roman who let out a stifle of laughter across the garden, slapping a hand over his mouth to stay quiet.

"You okay, Kiddo?" Patton questioned, head popping up over the top. "Yeah, yeah, great" he drawled sarcastically, giving Patton a hand as he jumped over, too. Finally, they were all in the garden, following the route Roman took until they were standing next to the back door.

"What now?" Virgil whispered, turning to Logan who surveyed the building. "We can either find an open window, or use this lock pick to open the door" Logan then brought out the pick he kept in his pocket. "Should we split off into teams? Logan and me can find the window, you and Ro try and lock pick inside?" Patton suggested, and while they planned it out, Roman walked up to the door, pushed the handle down and watched as it gently swung open, a cat meowing as it slipped by his feet into the garden.

"Okay, Roman-" Logan cut himself off when he noticed the open door. "How did you do that?" He asked, the others turning to see. Roman smirked, "because I'm the best" he shrugged and stepped inside, Logan and Virgil rolled their eyes while Patton grinned and quickly followed their friend, Logan being last to enter, closing the door quietly behind them.

"Now, where would it be?" Patton asked, and that's when they parted ways, Logan and Patton checking the ground floor while Roman and Virgil took the top.

As Virgil rummaged through a storage closet, he heard a gasp coming from Roman and then an unstoppable amount of laughter. Curiously he hurried to the room he was in, finding it to be the bedroom, spotting Roman with a hand over his mouth, standing beside a set of draws.

"Don't-" Roman gasped in a breath, "don't look in there" he wriggled his eyebrows suggestively and Virgil rolled his eyes, glaring. "This isn't the time to mess around, moron!" He hissed, turned and left Roman to carry on searching, his anxiety like a crazed bat inside of him, but he could keep himself in control for now.

"Woah..." Patton breathed, picking up a delicate ornament from the fireplace. "It's beautiful" he murmured, Logan walking over to see what he meant, surveying the item closely for a moment. It was a statue, specifically of a woman, capturing a moment of despair as she cried.

"Well crafted" Logan agreed, guessing they kept their valuables here and began searching through the different ornaments and statues, even a few wooden boxes here and there. Patton noticed and helped him out, but in the end they still couldn't find it.

Back upstairs, Virgil stopped at a vanity, thinking this was as good a spot as any. Using the light on his phone, he pulled open draws and pushed aside really expensive looking jewellery to try and find the ring, he went through boxes and boxes filled with the stuff, almost ready to give up when his hand knocked a ring box off the table.

"Please, please, please" he whispered, slowly behind down and scooping it up. Shakily, he lifted the lid and gasped, eyes widening as he stared at the ring. That was it. It was Logan's ring. Hastily putting everything back where it was, he turned off his phone and rushed to the top of the staircase.

"Logan! I have it!" He called as loudly as he dared, Logan and Patton rushing up the stairs moments later, Roman appearing too, watching as Logan took the box and lifted the lid, relief flooding over his face as he finally relaxed and held the box close to his chest for a moment before turning to Virgil and thanking him sincerely.

"Eh, no problem" he shrugged, and just when they thought everything was going well, the hairs on the back of their necks rose when they heard the sound of a car pulling up the driveway.

They all turned to each other and whispered one word at the exact same time.

"Run"

And run is what they did. Patton, Virgil and Logan dashed down the staircase, making a mad sprint towards the kitchen where the back door resided. Grabbing the handle, Virgil opened it with hurried velocity, ushering Patton and Logan out before pulling it close, luckily catching it just in time before it slammed.

They made it to the fence when they realised Roman wasn't there with them. "Shit, where's that royal buffoon!" Virgil hissed, they all looked up when they heard the sound of a window opening.

From the top floor they watched Roman fucking leap out the window and grab onto a tree branch, swinging himself down onto another, then ceremoniously doing a front flip, rolling across the garden and jumping over the hedge, gripping the fence and hauling himself over, landing on the other side as gracefully as a fucking swan.

The three stared at each other with slacked jaws before scrambling over the fence to. The entire way back Roman wore a proud smirk on his face.

"Next time, we're leaving the gymnast behind"

"Agreed"
