Show you something - Roman & Remus

10:11pm

I wanna make something clear; I will not ever ship Roman and Remus romantically due to the fact they are canonically brothers and I don't wanna get involved with that side of the fandom. Maybe not all my Oneshots in the future will have them as brothers (if it's an AU - if it isn't an AU they will always be brothers) but still I won't ship them romantically

Au

Roman's head lifted when a sudden noise alerted him to stare at the ceiling above. It seemed no one else had heard it as his siblings were still playing with their toys and his parents were sitting in their respective seats, father reading the newspaper, mother reading from her book.

He brushed it off as his mind playing tricks on him but the more he carried on playing with his little brother and sister the more he couldn't get it off his mind. In the end his curiosity was near to eating him alive so he excused himself for a moment and hurried up to his room as fast as he could (there were many strict rules in this household, one including being forbidden to run inside - he found his parents to be odd, very strict and way too comfortable with looking into his private life).

Entering his room where he was sure the noise came from a gasp left his lips when his eyes landed on his older brother Remus who was reclined on his bed, staring at the ceiling with a smirk forever plastered onto his face.

"What are you doing here?!" Roman hissed while silently closing the door. Another rule; no closing any door completely unless it be the front or the back.

Remus looked up suddenly at his brother, seemingly in a world of his own before Roman disturbed him.

"Ah Roman, my least favourite brother" he cooed in that silly voice he always used, sitting up where he sat.

"I'm not so keen on you either" Roman grumbled childishly but he couldn't help it, he and Remus were always bickering no matter what. It drove their parents up the wall. Speaking of which; "if they find you here they'll kill you" Roman harshly whispered at his brother who didn't seem to care, he truly didn't have a care in the world.

"I wonder if they'll use my favourite weapon" he giggled while resting his chin on his palm. Roman rolled his eyes and dragged a hand through his hair, he was worried for his own sake too, if his parents came up to see what he was doing and saw Remus they'd yell at both of them and surely punish Roman as they couldn't exactly do anything to Remus as he was twenty years old. Four years older than Roman.

He could tell him to stay away but he'd come back.

"Remus, just-"

"I want to show you something" he interrupted, getting up from the bed and waltzing over to Roman who glared at him. "And I don't care" he muttered, hands clenched, really tempted to push Remus down the stairs but that would put him in an even worse predicament.

There were many reasons as to why his parents hated their eldest child, he broke every single rule he could for one which made them kick him out on his seventeenth birthday. Before that he was a devil child, completely irresponsible, wouldn't listen to any sort of authority figure, he was truly the worst but even so Roman (reluctantly) loved him.

He had seen his struggles, held him when he cried, Remus had been through a lot and Roman could respect him for not murdering his parents when he got the chance.

"What if" Remus carried on, standing behind him and resting his arms on his shoulders to lean against him. "I pushed you out of the window - would you come then? Unless you were impaled, or broke a leg. Imagine the bone splitting through your skin-"

"I will kill you" Roman threatened, pushing him away.

"How? Slice me open and rip out my intestines?" Roman's glare finally quietened him down but he didn't stop giggling and moving, seemingly unable to stand still for any amount of time.

"Come with me" Remus asked for again, "or I'll cut off your nipples and shove them up your nose" and Roman wouldn't feel threatened if Remus hadn't actually done that in the past. Luckily nipples were one of the only body parts that grew back.

"Fine, fine" Roman begrudgingly agreed. "Let me tell my parents I'm doing my homework" he grumbled, leaving his room and walking down the stairway, poking his head into the living room and sending short smiles to his siblings. He would bring them along but he was sure whatever Remus had planned wouldn't be child friendly.

"I'm going to finish my homework" Roman said to his parents. "You haven't already?" His father asked with a risen eyebrow, eyes piercing into his intently. "Mostly-yes, it's almost done" he winced a little when his father tutted and didn't say another word. Without even glancing at his mother he left the room and hurried up to his, leaving it open a crack to please his parents who might pass his room.

He wasn't surprised to see Remus still there, sitting halfway in halfway out of his window, when he wanted something he was persistent.

"Alright" Roman quietly murmured, leaving his phone behind due to the tracking on it connected to his parents phone, alerting them if he were to be a certain distance from them. Or the phone, at least.

Remus didn't say anything, instead he grinned and jumped out the window, grabbing a branch to ease his fall but landing on his feet perfectly. Roman knew he had done this countless times when he lived here. He went the more safer route, landing on the ground beside him and ignoring the look of impatience on his face.

"Where are we going?" The younger asked quietly as they jumped over the fence and entered the dark alleyways behind their house.

"I'll give you three guesses" Remus mused but without giving Roman any time carried on; "I'll guess them for you!" He cackled, head faced in Roman's direction but still walking a fast pace without a worry for walking into something or tripping over.

"Are we going to see the rotting corpses of all the neighbourhood animals after we beat them to death with a spoon?"

Roman's face scrunched up, "what? No-!"

"Are we going to watch old Ms. Karen fall down the stairs and impale herself on a hundred knives?" His eyes gleamed at the idea and Roman would think him insane if it weren't for the fact he would never legitimately hurt/kill someone innocent. He'd never murder but definitely hurt someone who deserved it.

"No! She's the only nice old person who lives here!" Roman denied instantly but Remus just laughed.

"Final guess; are we going to see...five abandoned babies in one dumpster or one abandoned baby in five dumpsters?" It took Roman a moment but when he understood he physically shoved Remus to the side as the man laughed, "not cool Remus!" He snapped, crossing his arms stubbornly and walking ahead.

"Why the hell are you even guessing?! You're the one who knows where we're going!" When Roman turned around his brother was out of sight and he groaned, running his hand through his hair. That fucking man - Roman would never be able to stand being in his presence. He carried on walking ahead knowing he'd catch up soon.

"How can he even think of such things" he murmured to himself, trying to push aside all that Remus had said. It was gross and disgusting and his brother was fucking weird.

When he saw a figure in the distance (due to the moon being mostly hidden he couldn't exactly see much) he relaxed and picked up his pace.

"Remus! Do you want to show me something or not? Or is this a prank? I swear to Disney last time you did this I got Deceit on your ass and you regretted it for weeks-!"

Oh shit that figure wasn't his older brother. He had just yelled at a stranger. In a dark alleyway. They pushed off of the wall and Roman drew a couple of steps back, watching the person carefully as they stopped a little ways away.

"I'm-" Roman swallowed, controlling his nerves. "Sorry for yelling at you, you're not who I thought you were" he tried to walk by but the stranger side stepped in front of him. Roman glared, trying to go on past but whoever this person was wasn't letting him.

"Look, dude, this isn't funny" Roman told him sternly but when his voice hardened the stranger's hand went for their pocket. His eyes widened at the possibilities of what they could be reaching to get but they suddenly stopped, eyes focusing on something just over Roman's shoulder.

Roman relaxed when he felt the familiar presence of his brother, leaning on his shoulders like he always did. "Hello" he crooned, the stranger taking a slight step back. "Please describe exactly what you were planning to do with my brother in detail" and Roman rolled his eyes, knowing he was solely asking out of his sick curiosity.

"Because if you did do any of those things..." suddenly a large knife appeared in Roman's peripheral vision and his eyes widened. "I might have to do them back to you. Or maybe I'll use one of my own, like..." he twirled the knife around in his hand, "chopping off each finger and feeding them to you like they were little sausages! Wouldn't that be fun?" He giggled, suddenly standing halfway before his brother.

"Or shoving this entire knife right up your butthole" and then he shrieked with laughter, it sounding crazed enough for the man to turn on his heel and bolt. "Jesus, Remus" Roman shuddered, "why the heck do you have a knife on you? And why is it so big?!"

"The bigger the better, brother" he winked before carrying on down the alleyway. Roman rolled his eyes but did agree with the sexual implications the statement held.

They eventually found themselves on a street, Roman was thankful for the sudden bright light that shone down from the lampposts.

"Now where?" His brother twirled around on the spot, tapping his chin over exaggeratedly. "This way!" He finally concluded, crossing the road without looking beforehand. Roman would usually scold him on that but it was late and there wasn't a moving car in sight.

"Have you ever imagined what it would be like to-"

"No and honestly? I don't want to" Roman cut him off before he could even try, Remus giggled but kept quiet, humming along to a song Roman didn't recognise but then again he never knew the type of music Remus listened to.

Then he narrowed his eyes slightly, wait...he did know that song!

"Are you singing 'You've Got A Friend In Me'?" Roman asked for confirmation, never taking Remus for a Disney/Pixar fan.

Remus winked at him, "it reminds me of the time I did have a friend in me" and Roman groaned in disgust, slapping his arm when he began to go onto detail. Luckily he stopped but didn't halt his laughter.

They eventually reached whatever Remus was going to show him, the older of the two using his key to enter the block of apartments they had come to. "Remus, I need to go back soon" Roman reminded but he merely waved his hand around dismissively, jumping up the stairs to get to his floor.

Roman sighed but followed, the building looked to be well kept which was a plus - if he brought him to some sort of abandoned building he'd leave immediately. When reaching his floor, he opened the doors and pranced down the hallway, stopping in front of his door and waiting until Roman was stood beside him.

This was different from Remus' usual 'adventures', he had never before seen where Remus lived as he's never told him and his parents certainly wouldn't inform him (if they knew which he knew they didn't).

With a grin Remus unlocked and pushed open the door, letting Roman step in first which he did with some hesitation, eyes sweeping over the small but homely room. Remus switched on the light and closed the door after entering, sitting down on the couch less than gracefully, still grinning at his brother who waited by the coffee table.

"So-why'd you bring me here?"

Remus sighed, head dropping back. "Isn't it obvious?" And apparently it wasn't.

Rising from the couch, Remus drifted out the room and into the hallway, Roman quickly following after him until they were both outside of a room.

"When I lived with your dolphin-licking parents-" Roman rose his eyebrow but Remus carried on, "I always needed an escape from their stupid voices. I told them I was staying with a friend but nope!" He threw his arms up, "here I was! The landlord didn't care, as long as I paid which I do" he then opened the door to the room, turning on the light to reveal a basic guest room, with a bed, desk and set of draws.

"If you ever need an escape" Roman took the set of keys that were suddenly waved in his face, "my place is free for your activities. Dirty and...more dirty activities" he quirked his eyebrows, "like sex!"

"Yeah, yeah I got it Rem!"

"Or murder!"

"Wait-"

"Or torture!"

"Okay, hold on Remus, I'm not-why-I would never do that and you-!" Roman didn't finish his sentence when Remus' cackle filled the air.

He rolled his eyes but couldn't stay mad, in fact this was...great. Whenever he needed an escape he'd often stay over his friends house but they weren't always free, especially on school nights, so this could actually benefit him in many ways.

"Thanks, Rem" Roman spoke with a genuine softness in his voice once he stopped laughing. Remus blinked at him for a moment, Roman knew how much he hated sentimental/emotional moments like this so he'd keep it short.

"At least I can close my door fully here" he then gestured to his room with a pained chuckle. Remus stared at the door for a moment, a frown resting on his lips until he spoke. "Two more years" he murmured in reference to when he could finally move out. Roman nodded in understanding, those two years wouldn't exactly go by quickly he was sure.

"Well!" Remus suddenly chirped up, "time to go home!" And with that they were leaving the building, Remus going back to his weird and disgusting ways while Roman just listened, mostly there but somewhat in his own imagination too, wondering what it would be like to finally have some privacy.

They reached Roman's house quickly and the two climbed up back to his window, Remus sitting on the windowsill instead of coming in.

"Thanks again, Remus" Roman said after hiding the key in a hidden spot in his desk, somewhere his parents had never been able to find. "You're weird but a good brother" Remus scoffed lightly but grinned nonetheless.

"I'm the best brother you'll get" he winked childishly. Roman rolled his eyes, tensing when he heard the sounds of footsteps coming towards his room. He didn't even have time to usher Remus away before it was being opened and his father was in the doorway.

He expected him to explode like a volcano but when all he did was stare at him Roman quickly relaxed. "Finished your homework yet?" And Roman hurriedly picked it up from his desk and slid it into his school bag. "Yep! Didn't take too long" he lied breezily, living with parents like these he became an expert liar. Even Remus' friend Deceit (a professional in the master of deception) praised him.

"Good. Now, go to sleep" he told him pointedly, Roman nodded and watched him leave, the door left open ajar.

Letting out a breath, he turned to his window which was empty and closed, he was sure if it was open his father would shout. Looking out into the darkness he couldn't see much, he was sure Remus was already halfway home.

Sitting on his bed, he let a small smile rest on his lips at the idea of staying at his house. While sleeping over friend's houses was nice he had to stay with them otherwise it'd be a bit weird, but with Remus? He could stay in his room alone and it wouldn't matter.

Yeah, his brother was halfway to insanity but he loved him anyway.

Hope it was good idk-
