Virgil felt throughly and utterly...screwed. Why did he come here alone? Because he was an idiot, and now he was hurrying through a crowd of people similar age to him to move away from the hustle and bustle and find a quiet area to pass the time before he had to line up at the meet and greet occurring later that day. He didn't have to but it was the main reason he was coming here; he had wanted to meet this certain person for ages since becoming a fan two years ago and everything lined up perfectly for him to take this week off to get up to the convention and...see him.
But to say he was anxious about it would be an understatement. He was practically shitting his pants. And he wasn't even in the line yet! He didn't want to imagine what it would be like to actually meet him, his idol, he presumed it would be...awkward, and horrible (his own fault of course). Would he even be able to speak? What if he had a panic attack and ruined it all? So many scenarios Virgil contemplated simply going back to the hotel but he was here now, if he wasn't completely sure he'd be back home.
The person he so desperately wanted to meet was a YouTuber; after finding him through a news article he checked out his videos and was drawn in. He did an array of videos, from make up tutorials to music-based videos to listing undermined musicals and favourite Disney movies. He also experienced in vlogging (luckily he had pretty interesting days) and most the time Virgil was sucked in. No matter what he'd upload Virgil would watch, his personality and contagious laughter made him lovable and his ten million subscribers (growing) agreed.
Virgil himself was an artist, mostly based digitally, and he has made countless drawings of the YouTuber, only posting half, and only a quarter being noticed - still! Whenever it was seen it would make his entire week, his response made his heart burst in joy because every single time he was so sweet!
His name was Roman Kingsley...and yes, of course being attractive came with the package. Sometimes he could be a bit arrogant, and came with quite the ego but Virgil could see past it for him...the lovable, gay, eccentric goofball he was.
Virgil might've had a small crush on him, he couldn't help it, he was sure many other people did. But he didn't think of that right now, instead he plugged in his earphones, sat down at an empty table and distracted himself with YouTube watching - you guessed it - Roman. He didn't upload over the few days he goes to conventions so Virgil had to rewatch some old stuff (not that he minded...) his favourite was the bloopers from some scripted videos. His smile, laugh, made his day and calmed down his hammering anxiety.
Unfortunately as time ticked on Virgil knew he'd have to get up and start heading to the 'meet and greet' area if he wanted to have a chance to see him, as he was sure many people would be there. He was putting it off as much as he could but it was now or never. Finishing the video he pocketed his belongings and rose from the table, after glancing around the large room he realised now would be the best time to leave as it was filling up with others who were taking a break to eat - he was sure his table would want to be used soon.
Taking the way route out to avoid getting too close to strangers, he moved tensely through the crowds of people either in cosplay or in merchandise - he recognised a few items of the merch from other Youtubers, but would only smile when he saw Roman's merch, which he wore himself under his baggy purple and black jacket. Finding the meet and greet area wasn't too difficult, it was a large room after all - he winced when he saw how long and compact the line already was but thankfully not too long that he'd be cut off after a few hours.
Hurrying to join the queue quite quickly he was wedged between people before him and the new people behind, feeling his anxiety churn like a pit of black tar in his stomach he rushed to plug his earphones in and distract himself with music - specifically the songs Roman had released. His voice was fucking angelic and he'd fight anyone that said otherwise - most his music Virgil enjoys listening to, some not so much simply because they weren't his taste, not to say they weren't all good though.
The only time he could hear the world through the music was when, quite apparently, Roman and the few other Youtubers he was with showed up - everyone screamed in joy and they waved in excitement, moving to their designated areas, ready to meet the fans that had waited so long to see them - they were all honoured to see how many people showed up but it was no battle of who had the most. That being Roman.
Throughout Virgil couldn't keep his eyes off the famous man, flicking through song after song, barely paying attention to the lyrics - simply watching Roman's radiating smile as he hugged, spoke, signed and snapped photos with his fans. It was so wholesome to see how genuinely joyful he was and gave each person the same love and attention as the last. However as the hours passed he did start to get a little tired, not as boisterous before but still talkative and smiling. All the other Youtubers left before him either due to their line finishing or simply being too tired to continue as their day beforehand was just as busy. Virgil didn't really blame them but did feel bad for the people who couldn't meet their idol - imaging himself in their shoes and wondering if he couldn't meet him now when the next time he could would be. He hated travelling long distances, the only reason he was here was his burning desire to at least have a hug from Roman became too much.
When the line before him was short he took out his earphones and pocketed them, switching off his phone to have his full attention on himself. He needed to prepare and know exactly what to say - plus he had a gift in his bag and had to riffle through the pros and cons of giving it to him. Pros being he likes it, cons being he hates it and asks him to leave. A bit drastic but Virgil's anxiety wouldn't start making sense now.
He kept a steady breathing pattern and clenched his sleeve-paws tight, running conversation after conversation through his mind, trying to ignore the way his stomach clenched and turned. Jesus-what if he'd faint? Has he had enough water? Just in case he took out his bottle and had a few sips, the cold water running through his system gave him a small distraction for a few seconds but it felt like hours in his situation, which wasn't great.
As the line shortened and shortened, before he knew it he was standing before a family of two parents and their child - he knew the parents wouldn't take turns to meet the guy so after the child he was next and yep he might faint, or fall into a terrible panic attack- why did he come here!?
He wished he took a bit longer getting here, then maybe the line would be cut short with him in it and he'd have to meet him another time - but if he can't meet him now would he ever be able to? Shaking his head he swayed side to side on the spot, reminding himself over and over it would be okay, it'll be fine, nothing would go wrong-
"Next!"
Shit, shit, everything will go wrong, shit!
"Virgil?"
Wait what
Virgil stared in shock at Roman who brightened up like a star, taking a few steps closer to the man who was glued to the ground. "Virgil, right?" He repeated and Virgil had to stop his jaw from hitting the fucking ground - Roman, the Roman Kingsley knew his fucking nAME!?
He could faint- he could pass out- holy shit he could die-
"Um-y-yeah, th-that's me" and of course his voice had to shake like an old house in a windy storm, legs managing to pull himself closer to the YouTuber but they trembled with each step. "How-um-how'd you know me?" He then asked, staring at him nervously.
Roman noticed, but tried not to make it apparent. He wanted everyone who met him to be as comfortable as they could be. "Through your art of course! You're incredible, I love everything you post!" He exclaimed and Virgil's eyebrows shot up, he didn't think of himself as any better than the next guy - but Roman likes him this much? N-no...likes his work this much? Yeah...that's what he meant to think.
"I-wow..." he breathed, entirely blown away. "Um-thank you, that means a lot" he admitted and Roman giggled a little, opening his arms as an invitation, eyes silently asking if he wanted a hug to which Virgil certainly did. Without so much hesitation he stepped forward and allowed himself to be enveloped in his strong grip and holy shit he never wanted to leave! It felt so warm, protecting, like a cocoon shielding him from the world. He pressed his face against Roman's shoulder and sighed out, relaxing simply in his hold. Roman noticed and laughed softly, giving him a reassuring squeeze before slowly leaning back - Virgil really didn't want to let go but die before he'd make Roman uncomfortable so he dropped his arms and stepped back, almost forgetting about the gift until-"oh!"
"Oh?" Roman repeated, watching him with..fonder eyes.
"Uh-yeah, um, I brought a gift" he explained, taking off his bag and unzipping it clumsily.
"Oh, Virgil, you didn't have to" Roman waved off, bending down too as Virgil lowered to the ground ro rest his bag on the floor. "Well...I did" he gripped the gift, not taking it out yet but meeting Roman's gaze. "It's a thank you for...everything, I've uh...been alone for awhile and you make me feel not so alone...especially on my bad days" he explained, chewing his bottom lip and avoiding Roman's gaze which had softened.
"Really?" He whispered, Virgil looked up in surprise at how gentle his voice was. He nodded, gripping the gift tighter. "Yeah I-...yeah"
He didn't have much warning before Roman was hugging him again, surprising Virgil who stiffened in his grip. Unfortunately it didn't last too long, he pulled back but kept his hand on Virgil's shoulder - his skin burned under his touch. "May I see?" He gestured to the present and Virgil blushed, realising he still hadn't handed it over. "Yeah, yes, course" he pulled it out, clearing his throat and blushing even more when he remembered he wrapped it in paper.
"I-I-.." he stammered for an explanation but Roman simply shot him a smile that nearly made him swoon and neatly unwrapped the gift, setting aside the paper which he managed to remove without tearing, staring down at the gift with wide eyes. It was a framed digital drawing that had been printed off, him surrounded by the characters he had made in his scripted videos, all posing exactly how they would...some smiling, smirking, or staring at the person they stood beside.
Roman stared down at it in awe, he had never seen such a beautiful creation of him and his characters before. Staring up at Virgil he grinned widely, "this is absolutely outstanding!" He exclaimed suddenly, Virgil flinched, allowing himself to be pulled into the third hug, Jesus Virgil felt like the luckiest man on planet Earth. "It-it is?" He asked for confirmation, Roman nodded hurriedly, almost comically fast.
"Yes! I love it! It's..." his voice lowered, "it's my favourite" he winked and yep Virgil was about to die-
"I'll cherish it forever" Roman promised, delicately placing it on the table beside the other gifts he had collected, then rose to his feet, giving a hand to Virgil who took it graciously, allowing himself to be helped up.
"Can I sign anything for you?" He pulled out his sharpie and Virgil nodded, taking his sketchbook out his bag, it was old and slightly falling apart, held together by rope but Virgil loved it, it meant more to him than anything in the world. "Um, this page? Please?" He opened it to the first page, it was blank, the only page that came with the original book that was still empty, a lot of the other papers had been slid inside as he couldn't bare to start using a new one.
"Of course!" And the way Roman held it so delicately made Virgil's heart melt, he truly cared about something that quite obviously meant a lot. He didn't press too hard, right in the middle of the page like Virgil requested. "This okay?" He made sure and Virgil nodded, taking the book and slowly closing it. "Perfect" he agreed and Roman smiled so wide the corner of his eyes crinkled in that adorable way.
"I'm glad- oo! Would you like a picture?"
"Yeah, that's be great" the two crossed to the light blue board to pose in front of at their picture was taken, Virgil as awkward as ever didn't know what to do but Roman did everything for him, wrapping an arm around his waist and pulling him close, but not keeping a tight grip on him - a silent reassurance he could step aside whenever he desired but Virgil didn't want to move, in fact he pressed himself further against Roman, keeping his hands awkwardly in his pockets but managing a shaky smile at the camera.
Once taken Roman turned to Virgil and dragged him into his fourth hug! Like the first, Virgil quickly hugged back, resting his face comfortably against his shoulder, letting out a small sigh of content. "It's been wonderful meeting you" Roman murmured, reluctantly pulling away and smiling at the man so fondly. Virgil blushed, shifting on the spot nervously.
"Yea-ditto, dude"
Roman chuckled, "I hope to see you again"
He then turned and scooped up Virgil's bag, closing it for him and handing it over. Virgil took it with a small thanks, the two waving before turning away and walking their separate ways - Roman back to meeting the other fans and Virgil off to...nowhere, really, but he knew where he needed to go now - there was a panel soon and he knew Roman would be on it, the only reason why he was even going.
As he walked he couldn't wipe the grin off of his face, his body still aflame in remembrance to the way Roman held him, he seriously wanted more but he'd hate to freak the YouTuber out. Even still he couldn't be more glad he ended up meeting him, still reeling over the fact he was recognised! He didn't even post selfies often, none of his profile pictures were of him - if Roman wanted to see his face he would have to search deep which made Virgil's heart flutter, the idea of Roman purposefully doing that could send him into a frenzy.
And his reaction to the gift! Oh...Virgil couldn't have asked for it to go better than it did, how soft he was with him, the way he held his sketch pad and simply made him feel so comfortable and welcome...he wished he could go back and repeat it over and over but alas.
It happened and now he'd have to wait for who knows how long before he could do it again. But he knew for sure he'd be at the next convention Roman attended.
The room the panel would be held in was filling fast and Virgil rushed to the bottom rows to get a seat close to the stage, luckily he snagged one on the end, tucking his bag between his legs and drawing out his phone to help pass the time - when he saw a notification pop up ten minutes later he nearly screamed.
Roman Kingsley liked five of your posts
Five!? Five!? He's only ever liked one at a time! And those were all specifically aimed at him. He quickly opened his Instagram where he mainly put his art, realising he liked some of his older work. Not too old, possibly from last month? But he posts frequently, meaning Roman was scrolling through his Instagram page. If he somehow didn't faint before he might now - taking a swig of water he nearly sprayed it across the people before him when he kept getting notification after notification - Roman kept on liking his posts, not just the ones with him and his characters!
He watched, stricken, frozen - until Roman commented.
RomanKinglsey - I love this!! How do you make it so realistic!? :O
He had to shut off his phone and take a breather to calm himself down - the panel was soon to start which meant Roman was looking through his work to pass the time. He was speechless, he couldn't find it in him to think, or even begin to start planning out his response! While staring at the ground the room suddenly darkened and filled with screams of excitement as everyone realised it was beginning - five minutes later introductions were over with and the Youtubers were sitting at a long table on stage, Roman amongst them, looking as incredible as ever.
While people rushed to the microphone to be able to ask them a question Virgil stayed seated, he didn't think he'd be able to get one word out before freezing and panicking - besides he didn't have a question prepared. Instead, he barely paid attention to the panel and shakily typed out a response.
- thanks! and a lot of practice i guess
He sent it before he could worry too much, chewing on his nail and looking up at Roman who, while someone else was speaking, looked down at his phone screen and smiled, tapping the screen with one hand. Virgil watched closely, part of him wondering was that his notification that alerted him? But the rest of him called him stupid, he was obviously responding to a friend or something-
And his phone lit up....flicking his eyes down he clamped his mouth shut. It was from Roman. It was a fucking DM from Roman!
He opened it without wasting a second.
RomanKingsley - I was hoping you'd attend my meet and greet! I've wanted to meet you for awhile
Was Virgil melting in his chair? Why yes, yes he was, why'd you ask?
- me? why? im not special
RomanKingsley - not special!? Have you seen your wonderful creations? You're the best artist I've ever come across!
- dude pls i dont wanna faint in the fucking row of chairs
RomanKingsley - row of chairs? Wait, are you here?! At the panel?
- uh yeah
RomanKingsley - Where!?
Virgil looked up, breathing abnormal but he felt as light as a kite. Had he taken drugs? It certainly felt like it. Sitting up further in his seat, he snapped at picture of Roman who was seemingly searching the crowd but discreetly, he didn't want people wondering what he was doing.
Roman quickly opened the picture, using the angle of which the photo was taken to find Virgil amongst the crowd and his smile brightened.
RomanKingsley - I see you! Hello!!
- lol hey
RomanKingsley - You don't want to ask a question?
- dude id fucking die if i went up there
"Why are you laughing, Ro?"
The two boys looked up, Roman turning to the YouTuber beside him who noticed his chuckling. "Oh! Sorry my friend sent me a meme" he waved off which made the crowd flutter in laughter. Virgil was more caught up in the fact he made Roman laugh!
As the questions continued, Roman looked back down at his phone laying on the table.
RomanKingsley - This is rather unprofessional, I should put my phone away, haha! It was lovely talking to you though!
Their conversation ended their and didn't continue for months, after the convention Virgil went home in high hopes of meeting Roman again later that same year - he was attending the convention during autumn and Virgil couldn't wait - hopefully he'd have as much luck to see him again during the meet and greet, maybe not...but merely seeing him up close would be enough.
The year passed by in a mixture of slow days and quick weeks, throughout Virgil dedicated a lot of his free time either drawing Roman or watching his videos - but one thing changed for the definite, Roman was more open in how he interacted with Virgil online. Every time Virgil would post a response to his tweets or Instagram posts he'd always like and respond back, they've had countless short conversations and Virgil still got a little giddy whenever Roman would like his new art post.
As the convention neared Virgil hurriedly watched Roman's vlog explaining what he'd be doing, the dates he'd be there, times for his meet and greets plus more. Virgil only paid attention to the meet and greet, while the panel was fun it was extremely anxiety inducing and he'd much rather watch the recording of it on YouTube at a later date. Still! He'd make sure to attend the meet and greet, much earlier this time remembering how well it went the first.
The flight over was just as terrible as the first time (the heights, mostly, but this time he had to deal with listening to a crying baby) but he made it to his location in one piece. He took a cab to the same hotel as last time and sat down on the neatly made bed with a wide, excited smile on his face. He couldn't believe tomorrow he was meeting his idol once again, how crazy was that? To him it was insane....but he was prepared this time, knowing what to expect.
In his bag was a second gift, this time it was a drawing of Roman with his closest friends and brother - Patton, Logan, Deceit being his friends and Remus his brother. They have all featured in many videos and it was obvious how much Roman loved them. Sometimes Virgil imagined what it would be like to join their group of friends...but then his brain degraded him, slapping a good ol' 'you'd never be good enough for them'. Still, one could dream.
The next day came quicker than expected, bag filled with all he would need he caught a taxi and arrived at the convention twenty minutes later. The mass amount of people sent his anxiety through the roof once again but he managed it the first time, he'd manage it again. Thanking and paying the driver he got out and hurried up to the building, a wide smile on his face.
Later that day Virgil found himself in line for the meet and greet, honestly the hours before hand passed in a blur. Like last time he distracted himself with Roman's music but when he noticed Roman posted something to his Instagram story he viewed that instead.
It was posted only a minute ago, showing Roman, his friends and brother in the area specifically designed for Youtubers.
"I think Roman has a crush" Patton, the oldest out of them all and practically the dad/mom friend in one, cooed. He looked at Roman over his shoulder, holding the phone at a distance to get them all. "Shut up!" Roman whined, laying himself across the plastic table. Deceit, the youngest and most femininely dressed out them all (he loved his dresses and hats) snorted. "You totally haven't talked about him all year" he teased, the sultry drag of words giving a clear indication he was lying.
"I said shut up!" Roman repeated, covering his beat red face.
"I've fallen in love with that emo!" Remus mimicked his brother who kicked at him, the man merely cackled, a little crazy compared to his twin. He and Roman were the second oldest, leaving Logan in the middle. Remus often never cared about how he looked but always made sure to dress so extra. Logan was drastically different in that regard, he was much more grounded and professional. Still! The two found love with each other, and everyone finds his and Remus' relationship to be adorable. Same for Deceit and Patton, even if at first it got a little hate.
"Aw, Roman" Patton smiled fondly at him through the camera before cutting the video, Virgil's music continuing once it was over. He stared at the ground for a moment - crush? Why did that make him feel sad? He didn't know...but he did know whoever his crush was was a very, very lucky guy.
He was further up the line compared to the last time he was here, so it didn't take nearly as long to meet Roman, but he was still filled with nerves - just because the first time went well doesn't mean the second time would.
Virgil anxiously watched Roman say goodbye to the fan he was just speaking too, turning back to the line where Virgil was next. At the sight of him Roman lit up and he took a few rushed steps forward, Virgil grinned and reciprocated them until the two were in each other's tight embrace - as if two friends coming together after neglecting to see each other for too long.
"Virgil!" Roman breathed, "I've missed you" he admitted and Virgil froze in his grip, missed him?
They pulled back and Roman grinned at him widely, "I'm so glad you made it! I still have your drawing, I hung it up and everyone loved it" he explained and Virgil felt his heart implode - he didn't expect Roman to put it on display, he assumed it would be tucked away hidden somewhere.
"Oh-uh...I have another one?"
Roman clasped his hands together, "you do? Oh! May I see?" He requested and Virgil nodded, like the last time the two kneeled on the ground, Roman carefully unwrapping the framed gift - Virgil watched with a soft smile, the way Roman's expression morphed to shock and awe.
"It's-...it's perfect, Virgil, oh they'll love it!" He exclaimed, referring to his friends in the image. "Thank you!" They hugged and spoke to each other happily - once again snapping a picture and hugging a few times more. Virgil felt like he was on cloud nine throughout.
"Um, Patton?" Roman called out before Virgil could leave, the man picked up his bag and watched curiously as Patton came from behind a curtain, grinning when his eyes laid on Virgil.
"Will you..." Roman nudged his head in Virgil's direction and the older man nodded, skipping over and holding his hand out to Virgil who shot a questioning look at Roman. "Don't worry! I'll be there as soon as I can" Roman didn't give an explanation, leaving Virgil to curiously follow Patton behind the curtain and towards the few tables across the large area cut off from the fans.
"He wanted to talk to you for longer" Patton explained to try and calm him, "he really enjoyed speaking to you the first time" he added with a smile and Virgil's heart exploded in his chest, "he-what? I-..." as he stuttered Patton laughed friendlily, "don't worry Kiddo, you'll understand soon"
He couldn't pay his cryptic comment much notice when he realised they were walking in the direction of Roman's other friends who all sat around a table, talking with each other happily.
"I-I...what-.." Virgil slowed down considerably, he wasn't ready to meet them all! He was just prepared to meet Roman, but now them all!?
Patton caught his distress instantly and stopped, "Oh, Kiddo, please don't fret...we're kind, I promise! No need to feel scared around us, we're as normal as everyone else here" he reassured to the best of his abilities, never seeing himself as someone 'famous' rather than a normal human being, which Virgil could respect, but that made it hard for Patton to understand why he was so worried.
Timidly he followed after the man who caught the attention of the table, all eyes landing on Virgil who ducked his head. "This is Virgil!" Patton gestured, smiling at the three three men.
"Ah! Virgil" Logan stood up and held out his hand, "it is nice to meet you, we have heard a lot about you from Roman" he explained, surprising Virgil to his core. Roman talked about him..? This was all a lot to process, he really needed to sit down and breathe.
"All good, don't worry!" Patton added, Virgil nodded and sheepishly shook Logan's hand, shuffling across the floor to sit at the table. Seeing the people he often watched in person, all of them here, it was surreal, he had no idea what to say-do, how to act! To think! He was going to make a complete fool of himself-
"The emo, huh?" Remus smirked, earning a look from Deceit. "Don't - leave that for Roman" he warned, Remus sighed dramatically but dropped the topic, turning back to the game of cards they were playing prior. Virgil didn't even catch on, staring at his hands which were clenched tightly in his lap. Why was he here? What did Roman want with him? Did he do something wrong and Roman was going to yell at him for it?
He chewed his bottom lip in worry, the time couldn't go by any slower, with him barely focused on the conversation between the friends, just waiting for Roman to show up and explain. But he certainly prepared himself for the worse.
"Finally" Deceit drawled, looking in the distance over Virgil's shoulder. Everyone looked to see Roman opening the curtain with a powerful, dramatic force, the grin on his face wide and prominent.
He stalked across the room, leaning on the back of Virgil's chair with a wicked grin. "You managed to keep him" he commented, Virgil kept his head lowered, cheeks red. Body burning at the mere presence behind him. "It wasn't difficult, he didn't run away" Logan replied back, setting down a card onto the table. Deceit barely glanced at it before looking down at his deck, "now why don't you take him away and tell him the truth" he emphasised the last word with a lazy wink - Roman swallowed and shot him a subtle glare.
"Wait-we could've tied him down?" Remus somehow got from the conversation, Roman rolled his eyes at his brother while Patton giggled and shook his head fondly. The men distracted, Roman offered his hand to Virgil who took it gladly - he was still sort of anxious and a break from being around a bunch of people would be nice.
"Can we talk?" Roman asked once out of earshot from his friends, "yeah, of course" Virgil agreed although his voice was shaky. Roman beamed and took him to a more private location, an empty room not exactly open to the public but Virgil didn't care - he was more focused on the hand in his grip.
"Like De said" Roman began with a chuckle, softly closing the door behind them and keeping the light dim. "I must tell you the truth"
Virgil felt his heart hammer away in his chest, following Roman over to a small table in the middle of the room. They sat opposite each other, Roman's cheeks growing a light shade of pink as he chuckled lightly. "Although I hadn't liked the posts, I have looked through your art many more times than it would seem" he began, Virgil sat straighter in his seat.
"And it's wonderful!" He gushed, cupping his own face, "you're an incredible digital artist! And I bet you're just as good on paper"
Virgil chuckled and scratched his neck, "well, I wouldn't say that-"
"But I would, along with many, many people" Roman countered, quickly moving on. "I would kill to have the artistic abilities you possess!" He carried on, arising from his chair to get more room for his dramatic flails. Virgil just watched him with fond eyes and a small, sweet smile.
"I...but that's not the entire truth" Roman continued, voice lowering as he turned to the man. "I have taken a liken to you" he admitted with a small, shy chuckle. Virgil's face somehow flushed an even deeper red, he couldn't believe any of this was happening right now! His idol really felt this way about him? It was impossible...
Roman slowly trailed over, lowering an arm across his shoulders and bending down to his sitting height, their faces inches apart. "And I'd hate to use my fame to persuade you" He shuddered at the idea, "but I...can't help what my heart wants" he carried on, his free hand gently coming up to trace Virgil's jaw, the man shivered at the touch, leaning into his palm. Roman smiled so lovingly at the sight.
"Maybe...maybe we could try something out?" He suggested and Virgil hesitated a mere moment; his brain, heart, entire self working a mile a minute - but when he thought about being with Roman, his idol, his everything, he couldn't help but agree..
"Yes, please..." he drifted and Roman grinned, using the hand on his jaw to pull him in to a sweet kiss - their lips almost touched, almost.
But then Virgil choked, eyes bulging as he felt a sharp sting in the centre of his back...
He stared, wide eyes at Roman who was still grinning, but this time much, much less lovingly.
"Wh-I-.." Virgil was cut off by a flurry of coughs and Roman cooed, scooping him up from under his shoulders and laying him gently on the ground. "Look at you" Roman murmured, brushing his bangs from his eyes. "Such potential, wasted..." he pitied, slowly dragging out the knife from his back and twirling it before Virgil's eyes frozen open in shock, horror.
"I didn't lie, Virge" he continued, slowly wiping the blood from the metal to Virgil's jacket. "I would kill to have your artistic treasures. And now I do, well" he backtracked with a light shrug, "I will soon" he pocketed the knife and kept his palm against Virgil's cold cheek, "it's a shame no one will notice, you have been alone for quite some time, right?" he then rose from the ground, looking at Virgil who could barely move, crying out quietly.
Roman hummed in dismay, "you were so cute too - so willing to date me! Virgil, you don't know anything about me! I would say be more careful next time but...I feel that will be useless" letting out a light giggle, Roman twirled on his heel and headed towards the door. "I don't entirely understand how it works either, between you and me, but now I'm sure I can use your talent for much greater use. Maybe we'll meet in another life, but for now" Roman opened the door and turned towards his latest victim, "goodbye, storm cloud" he whispered, leaving the room and shutting the door with a click of a lock.
As the life drained from Virgil's eyes - maybe he should've stuck to the most common advice;
Never meet your heroes.
