"Mom-" Patton winced, but she was a very persistent person. "Dear, I haven't seen you in a dress since you were a child!"
"You put me in a dress for prom-"
"Yes, I did, where has your love for them gone?" She frowned, looking at the beautiful dress she picked out from the shop earlier that day. Patton let out a gentle sigh, staring at the woman that should know everything about him - her 'son'. But simply doesn't. She wouldn't want to understand anyway.
"I don't know" he responded and she carried on rambling about how cute he used to look in them, and how perfect he'd look in this one. "Besides, you must impress Logan somehow" she winked and Patton sighed again, knowing he didn't need to dress a certain way to impress his husband. Besides, Logan and their two boyfriends didn't like seeing him in feminine clothing knowing it made him uncomfortable.
He married Logan mostly due to his mother's persistent questioning, and because Logan was his first boyfriend out of the group. After Logan reassured him he didn't mind, the two wedded to get Patton's mother off their back - Roman and Virgil decided to marry for the tax benefits but it didn't change the fact they were very much in love with each other, even if they shouldn't be together in the eyes of the law.
Their mother assumes it's only Logan and Patton who live in their house, Roman and Virgil simply visit (for she also didn't know they were all in a group relationship...) he was sure that news wouldn't go down well either.
"Enough of that" she finally turned to her son again, holding the dress up to his chest. "Put this on - I won't let you leave until you do! And stop wearing your husbands clothes, it looks terrible on you. No offence dear, but these are made for men" she emphasised by gripping the top and waving the loose fabric around, giving Patton a quick kiss to his forehead before she left the room, closing the door behind her.
He dropped onto the bed and sighed, pressing the palms of his hands to his eyes. It was difficult, extremely so, to have parents that wouldn't accept him for who he was - their son. He hadn't come out, even if he was twenty eight years old and had plenty of time - he knew in the end he'd have to say goodbye and let them go, but they're his family, he doesn't have aunts, uncles or siblings, he doesn't have children yet and while he does have his boys his parents are his parents, have been there since day one...
Yet in the end Patton knew all they would do is hurt, and telling them, moving on, would make his life incredibly better. And hey, maybe one day he'd be able to come back - maybe one day they'll see him for him.
But until that day...he glanced at the dress and groaned.
Coming down the stairs ten minutes later, his mother gasped and squealed in delight which made Patton's heart clench painfully. "You look beautiful!" She gushed, straightening out the fabric around the waist. "Hm, I knew to get the bigger size. How are your gym sessions going, lovely?" She asked with pure innocence, not realising how much it wrecked Patton inside. He wasn't large, not in the slightest, merely pudgy in some places - which wasn't bad, no matter his size he was him, his normal, cute self.
Still, he had to be the 'perfect' size for his mother.
"They're good" he lied easily, really he hadn't been to the gym in years, not after he broke down crying, wondering why he had to lose weight to be loved. His boyfriends reassured him for months afterwards until he could start to accept himself - in fact they still do to this day, Patton couldn't ask for better.
"Great!" She gushed, ushering him to the door. "Don't leave your husband waiting, I have to do some errands anyway. It was lovely seeing you, travel safely!" Once they shared an embrace and a few more goodbyes, Patton was out the house and in his car, keeping his eyes glued away from his body which was shown off in ways he hated with the dress hugging his skin.
While pulling out the driveway, he called Virgil and connected his phone to the speaker as to focus on the road while talking. It only took one ring before being answered, Virgil knew how rough it was when Patton visited his parents and wanted to be there for him in every way possible when he did.
"Pat? Everything okay?" He called, sitting in his living room. At the sound of his name Roman came rushing in from the other room, collapsing onto the couch beside him and demanding him to put it on speaker which he did after sending his boyfriend a slight glare.
"Um-" Patton stammered, taking in a breath and turning left. The drive home was thirty minutes, Patton wanted it to be over as soon as possible simply because he wanted out of this dammed dress and to be coddled by his boyfriends. "No, I'm not" he admitted, chuckling lightly to ease tension. While he is happy to be open with his boyfriends he can't help but feel a little bad every time, he doesn't like being centre of attention and often feels whatever his problem may be isn't...as much of a problem, really, and he's just being dramatic.
Although his boyfriends tell him otherwise, he couldn't help how his brain worked.
"I will fight your mother to the death if you give me permission!" Roman whined, Virgil sent him a look but knew the sentiment behind his words. Patton laughed and used the back of his hand to wipe at his eyes that began to tear up - they usually did when he returned home from his parents. "No, it's okay Roro...it's fine" he reassured, gripping the steering wheel tighter.
"Can I uh...listen to you guys talk? A distraction would be nice" he admitted and instantly Roman and Virgil burst into a shared conversation, explaining what they did earlier that day - going into specific detail about a dog they saw on their walk. They also brought up Logan who was rather busy with some work in his office, otherwise he'd be here on the call too. Patton reassured them it was fine, if Logan was busy he wouldn't want to disturb him.
Listening to them talk made time pass much quicker, before he knew it Patton was pulling up in the driveway and ending the call. He stumbled out the car, rushing up to get inside and avoid being seen in such a thing as a dress - the door opened as he headed up the porch and Roman's eyes widened, taking Patton into his arms and leading him inside.
"Oh, Cookie" he whispered, taking him in before hugging him tighter. "My precious prince, what has she done to you?" He carried on, Virgil appearing to see the damage - taking in the dress with a scowl. He whipped off his jacket and wrapped it around Patton to help him feel less exposed, the man smiled in gratitude but wouldn't be comfortable until he was out the dress and burning it.
"C'mon, let's find some pyjamas, yeah?" Virgil suggested, it was the afternoon and they weren't leaving the house for the rest of the day. Patton smiled softly and agreed, leaning against Roman while Virgil held his hand, the three boys heading to their shared bedroom.
"LOGAN! Get in here!" Roman yelled out the doorway, gently sitting Patton down on their large bed, big enough for the four of them.
"Oh, Roman, it's okay-" before Patton could finish Logan appeared in the doorway, analysing the dress for a moment before everything clicked and his jaw clenched. "Maybe next time I should go with you" he suggested, walking over and taking the spot beside him, helping him unzip the dress after Virgil laid down one of Roman's spare tops (that were oversized on Patton due to Roman's built upper half stretching them out, and him being that bit taller) and a pair of jogging bottoms that they all use infrequently.
"Yeah, that would be nice" Patton responded to his offer, standing up and letting Roman pull the dress up and over, leaving him in his boxers and binder. After pulling on the jogging bottoms Logan pressed a hand to the lower dip in his back, giving him a concerned look. "I suggest giving yourself a break" he gestured to the binder and Patton sighed, knowing at least one of them would mention it. After wearing a dress he already felt terrible, taking off the binder wouldn't help but he knew he would only be physically harming himself if he kept it on.
"Okay" he replied, his voice small. They all hated to hear it.
"Here" Virgil passed one of his favoured bras, the sports bra specifically. Patton smiled weakly and allowed Logan to help pull off the binder, all three men keeping their eyes closed per Patton's frequent request - the only time he was comfortable with them seeing his chest was during sex - only because it escapes his mind quite quickly.
After putting on the bra and top, he cleared his decency and the men opened their eyes, Roman hugging him from behind and covering his face in sweet kisses which, inevitably, made Patton burst into cute giggles.
"We love you, Bambi" Virgil murmured a bit shyly, he was still sheepish when it came to openly expressing affections - but the three men found it very endearing. "We do! With all of our hearts" Roman added, Patton laughed and kissed both of them, turning to Logan and bringing him into a slightly longer kiss. "I love you all too" he responded softly, in a voice that made the three men know he was already beginning to feel better.
"How about we cook dinner together? And watch a movie?" Virgil suggested, they would offer take out but for Patton specifically he adored cooking with his boys and would prefer it over ordering any day.
"Really?" He lit up and the three men couldn't say no if they tried.
After making a favourite (spaghetti with cumin) they all sat in the living room, cuddled up on the couch to watch their adored movies. Patton was wedged in the middle, Roman to his left, Virgil and Logan to his right, all expressing their love for him throughout. He couldn't wipe the smile from his face - his boyfriends always knew the exact thing to do to make him feel better, even if deep down he still felt sort of bad nothing could really change that, much to his boyfriends dismay. The only thing that could change it being his parents accepting him but that won't happen - instead he'd have to wait until he was ready, come out, face their backlash and possibly go the rest of his life never interacting with them again.
The thought made him want to cry, but at the same time he didn't want to waste so much energy on people who wouldn't love the real him.
Halfway through the third movie, Patton was leaning his shoulder on Roman, almost asleep. The boys noticed but didn't mention it, besides they all wanted to finish the movie - afterwards they'd take Patton up to their bedroom, change and have an early nights rest. Patton deserved it, after all.
By the time he was asleep the mood in the room quickly changed...certainly after they heard Patton's breath catch. They stared at Roman, suspecting it was his doing, but he held up his hands defensively showing he wasn't sneakily pleasuring their boyfriend. They were all quick to realise it was a wet dream, and blushes coated their cheeks.
Hoping it would end soon the three men ignored it for as much as they could, but when Patton gasped and whined in that beautiful way they all started to feel their dicks hardening.
"Patton, Cookie" Roman murmured, stroking his hair to wake him up - he knew Patton would be worked up and so was he, so what was the harm? Logan and Virgil looked over, lying if they said they didn't want this too.
"Mm...mm?" He hummed, eyes fluttering. He felt his cunt throbbing and another whine escaped him, squeezing his thighs together and gripping Virgil's arm. "What was your dream about?" Roman mused cheekily, Patton blushed furiously and hid his face with the blanket.
"You, all of you" he replied quietly, squeaking as Virgil placed a hand on his thigh, drawing patterns against the skin. "Really?" He prompted and Patton nodded, "would you like for us to make it reality?" Logan suggested and Patton shrunk down further, extremely flustered but incredibly needy. "Please" he whispered and Roman easily scooped him up, the man giggled as he was carried to their bedroom, Logan and Virgil following behind.
Laid gently onto the bed, Patton watched as his three boys stripped themselves down to their boxers, grabbing condoms and lube in preparation. They had a mixture of different positions they used so all could be pleasured either at the same time or in quick succession, tonight (as Patton's dream depicted, one he explained very quietly after Logan asked) they would all fuck Patton in their own way, but never anything rough with their precious angel.
Patton never really liked rough sex much like Virgil, the complete opposite of Logan and Roman but those two dealt with their cravings in another room when they wanted it - giving Patton and Virgil the perfect alone time to indulge in kinks they liked but Roman and Logan didn't. They all worked well together - but tonight was about Patton, and they'd treat him like a king.
Virgil was first, he pulled off Patton's joggers but allowed him to keep his top on - some nights he could take it off, others he couldn't and tonight was one of those nights. They all respected him and while Roman and Logan kissed and worshipped his body Virgil rolled on a condom, held Patton's thighs and slowly pushed in - the two let out soft moans, angelic to the other two boys who patiently waited their turn.
Bottoming out, Virgil waited until Patton gave permission which he did a minute later, then he thrusted into him as lovingly as ever - Patton adored it, each and every second, whining, panting and moaning against the lips of whoever was kissing him.
Virgil came inside his condom but Patton didn't, he'd much rather wait until Logan so he wasn't too overstimulated and cumming once for all three.
Roman never minded going last so Logan took his turn, knowing exactly how to angle himself perfectly to bring Patton the most amount of pleasure. He was crying out Logan's name in no time, head cradled in Virgil's lap after he pulled on a pair of boxers - Patton adoring the feeling of Virgil carding his hand through his hair, all the while Roman marking his neck with beautiful red spots.
The two both came, leaving Roman last - Patton needed a few minutes and some water but was ready for Roman in no time, both Virgil and Logan praising him as he took Roman so well.
Managing to make Patton come a second time he filled up the condom with his seed and gently pulled out, the two panting heavily and sharing sweet kisses.
That was how Patton managed to fall asleep extremely quickly after being cleaned up and cuddled under the warm sheets, his boyfriends not too far behind - however, the next morning there appeared to be an instant problem...
He woke up early, earlier than usual. After glancing at the bedside clock he realised it was six am and the sun was just peering through the blinds. He wondered what woke him up until he slapped a hand over his mouth and whined - shit, he really, really needed to throw up.
Not wanting to cover his boyfriends in vomit, he quickly slipped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom down the hall rather than their en-suite as to not disturb them. He threw up the toilet lid, bent down and threw up whatever he could which wasn't much as last nights dinner was digested and he hadn't eaten breakfast. The acid burned his throat but that didn't cross his mind - he was more reeling over the fact he had morning sickness.
Most commonly tied to one thing - pregnancy...
They had all spoken about wanting kids in the past, Patton even insisted it sometimes but they declined - the only reason he wanted to become pregnant then was so he didn't have to leave the house as often to go see his parents, and in the end he understood, he didn't want to have a child under the circumstances that he was using them, but now was different, now a few years had passed and now...he was pregnant, an accident, he didn't even know who the father was.
That wasn't entirely a problem, they all agreed the moment they would have a child they'd repeat the exact same process as last night but instead with no condoms, of course they could possibly work out who the father is later on (due to similarities) but it never would be for sure, which is what they wanted - and they certainly had that now.
He gripped the sink tight and shakily slurped some cold water from the tap - he wanted to know for sure if he was pregnant, not give himself or his boyfriends false hope.
Opening up the cabinet underneath the sink, he searched through the different products until he found a pink box at the back - they had bought this not too long ago for a 'just in case' scenario, and Patton supposed this was exactly that. Taking out the test he read over the instructions, locked the bathroom door and sat down on the toilet to pee - luckily he needed to go.
Leaving the test on the side of the sink, he slid down to the floor and leaned against the bathtub, tilting his head back to gaze at the ceiling. He couldn't exactly tell what his emotions were, they were everywhere, but he knew he was excited, extremely so...and more importantly he felt ready. This was a long time coming and right now he knew he was ready to bare a child - they had nine months to create their bedroom (which they could convert the guest bedroom into) and buy all the necessary products a baby would need. Plus it gives Patton plenty of time to read up on parenting tips, all that jazz.
He was really, really happy - but who could blame him?
Ten-ish minutes passed and finally Patton had the confidence to check. He knew if it was negative it would be fine, they could easily try again and possibly speak to the doctor about it to see what exactly their best bet is. But right now...he still had a chance. Taking in a gulp of air, he closed his eyes and picked up the test, turning it over so the answer would be right before his eyes.
"It's okay, Patton" he whispered, subconsciously placing a hand over his stomach. "It's okay" he repeated, slowly and timidly opening his eyes to see...a line. Two lines! Two lines!
He dropped the test in shock and covered his mouth, holy shoot, holy shoot! He was pregnant! He squealed and rushed to the door, about to open it and start yelling down the hallway in excitement when he stopped and took a step back. He didn't want to reveal to his boyfriends in such a way - the more he thought about it the more he wanted to make it special. But how?
Huffing through his nose, he supposed the only people he could ask for help were their friends, Deceit and Remus, who didn't live to far away and were in a relationship - for many, many years in fact. Since high school.
Thinking of their love made him smile, and knowing they've fostered children in the past for short amounts of time they'd be the perfect people to speak to.
Skipping down to his bedroom, he grabbed his phone and left the room as his boyfriends were still asleep. Heading to the living room he called Deceit and sat down on the couch, pushing up his shirt to reveal his pudgy stomach - a grin stretched across his lips at the thought of his big it would get.
The call finally answered, a groggy Deceit on the other end. "If this isn't important I totally won't block you" he drawled and Patton giggled, he didn't want to reveal his secret here juuuust in case.
"Can I come over?" He asked, eyes brighter than the sun.
Deceit paused on the other end, "here? To my house?" He clarified, Patton hummed in agreement, tracing circles across his tummy.
"Is something wrong?" He began to worry, sitting up in bed. Beside him Remus stared through half-lidded eyes, tired and barely understanding what was going on.
"No, no! The opposite, actually...please?"
Deceit sighed and dragged a hand through his messy hair, "yes, yes...whatever you desire, Patton" he responded and Patton squeaked in excitement, calling out a quick thank you before hanging up.
"Who wa' tha'?" Remus slurred in his sleepy state. Deceit put down his phone and laid back, instinctively curling an arm around Remus' waist and pulling him close. "Patton. He is coming over"
Remus groaned, "whyyyy? Mm...fart face" he didn't mean it, he was simply grumpy and didn't want his boyfriend to leave the bed to greet and talk to Patton.
"He didn't say, he didn't sound upset either...I really don't know, sweetheart" Deceit pressed a light kiss to Remus' forehead.
"We'll wait and see"
Meanwhile, Patton hurried up the stairs and didn't care about making noise this time as he needed his boyfriends to wake up to tell them he was going over to Deceit's house.
While changing into khakis and a blue polo shirt Logan blinked awake and yawned, eyes focusing on Patton who now brushed his hair before the vanity mirror.
"Love?" He called confused, rolling onto his back to stare at him. Patton shot him a smile through the reflection, "morning Logy" he responded, deeming himself presentable before walking over and pressing kisses across his face.
"Where are you going?" He asked, sliding glasses onto his face and pulling the blanket back but Patton shook his head and laid him back down, putting the glasses to the side. "Only to Deceit's and Remus', they need some help around the house" he clarified, although he didn't like lying to his boyfriends it was needed for the greater cause.
"Oh, well, I-"
"Shh" Patton soothed, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. "Sleep, it's early. I'll be back by midday, promise" with that he tucked the blanket closer, gave him a quick peck on the lips and left. Logan rolled onto his side and began cuddling Virgil again, he trusted everything was alright and fell back asleep, comfortably warm with his two boyfriends.
The drive was only ten minutes, luckily the streets were pretty empty due to it being so early. Deceit and Remus lived in a two story home pretty far from nearby houses, it looked like a sweet cottage surrounded by beautiful flowers and thick shrubbery. Vines and ivy climbed the walls giving it that fairy-magic vibe.
Parking his car in the driveway he hopped out and breathed in deeply through his nose - it always smelled incredible here, away from the pollution of the city to be surrounded by the nature of the forest. Drifting his hands across the petals of the flowers he stepped up onto the small porch and rang the doorbell - he could hear it echo through the house and he hoped Deceit hadn't fallen back asleep since the call. It was a pretty urgent matter.
The door didn't open, instead the window above and to the right did. "Ew" he heard but it made him laugh, tilting his head back to gaze at Remus who was naked. "Hey, Remus!" He called, waving his hand cutely.
"Go away" he demanded, Patton rolled his eyes fondly. "If you let me in I'll play with your hair" he bargained and Remus shot back inside before responding which made Patton laugh. Remus adored people playing with his hair, while Deceit did it often no one could compare to the way Patton did it and his bribes often worked as well as a Scooby snack.
The door whipped open and yep-! He was naked. "Remus!" Patton whined, covering his eyes. Deceit (who was jumped over as Remus rushed to open the door before him) snapped from his shocked state of being vaulted over and yanked Remus to the side, flicking his head. "Get dressed" he hissed, Remus merely cackled and scurried back upstairs to put on boxers - it would be a miracle if he came back with more on.
"Sorry about that" Deceit sighed, allowing Patton in and shutting the door behind them. "Now, what is it you need to tell us?" He rose an eyebrow and Patton grinned, biting his lip. "It's something really important" he clarified, buying time for Remus to come back down - he wanted to tell them both at the same time.
Deceit's eyes widened, "are you coming out?" He asked, both him and Remus fully aware of Patton's parents homophobic and transphobic behaviour, they both grew up with Patton as their best friend after all, including Roman, Patton's partners Virgil and Logan came into the picture later on.
He quickly shook his head, "gosh no, not yet" he chuckled awkwardly, "it's something else" he smiled, eyes snapping to Remus who flew down the staircase right next to Deceit, luckily wearing jogging bottoms - is he comando? Probably. Did Patton want to think about that? Not at all.
"Well, here I go" he took in a breath, the three men still standing in the hallway. "I'm...pregnant" he admitted slowly, placing a hand on his stomach. Both men's face morphed into shock, but a grin split across Remus' face in seconds. "Can I eat the placenta?" He asked and Patton stared at him in bewilderment, "I-uh...well-"
"Please ignore him" Deceit cut off, sending him a mild glare but Remus was still grinning. "When did you find out?"
Patton bobbed on the balls of his feet, "this morning" he responded chirpily, "you two are the first to know" he added and Deceit's jaw slacked a little while Remus beamed. "I knew before my brother!? I knew I was better than him" he toddled around all proudly and Patton giggled, reaching over and ruffling his hair. "Remus, you're both wonderful" he corrected which made him pout and mumble.
"Why haven't you told them?" Deceit quirked an eyebrow, crossing his arms over his chest. "Well...I wanted the reveal to be special! And I thought you guys would know what to do" he clarified and Deceit seemed to relax, he was rather protective over the people he loved - especially Patton and Remus, he honestly thought the worst as even if Patton looked happy he was very good at hiding things. Still, all is well and he was relieved.
"Buy a large doll, open it and fill it with blood and a small baby, stitch it closed then tear open the doll's stomach in front of them, reach in within the blood and pull out the small baby!" Remus rambled, Patton stared at him with a laugh bubbling in his throat. "I...don't think I will, Remus" he replied and the man-child groaned, "but it's a good idea!" He countered and Patton nodded in agreement, "it is! But I'd rather do something different" Remus sighed but relented, muttering something about wanting food before disappearing to the kitchen.
Deceit watched him go with a loving stare, Patton felt sort of bad for disturbing their morning with his presence but this was pretty important. "What do you think?" Patton asked, tilting his head to the side curiously. Deceit sighed and led him into the living room, the two sitting down on the couch. "If you desire it to be special; why not tell them individually in different ways? For example" Deceit leaned back, "leave a 'parenting tips' book for Logan to find" Patton sat up, nodding his head.
"That's a good idea! He loves books, and is pretty smart...he'll catch on instantly!"
Deceit smirked, "I have the best ideas" he mused and Patton giggled, nudging his shoulder. "What about Virge and Ro? I think something simple for Virgil, like..." Patton hummed in thought. "Ooo!" He suddenly gushed, "a baby version of his favourite jacket! He loves that thing" he stared at him curiously for his response and Deceit's lips stretched further, "a perfect idea, I'm sure the craft store down the road will love it" he drawled and Patton giggled again, clasping his hands excitedly.
"And Roman?" He prompted, Deceit sighed. "He loves musicals...and as I was forced to watch Hamilton, why not sing 'That Would Be Enough'? It's about pregnancy" he suggested and Patton squealed, shaking Deceit's arm excitedly. "You're right!" He agreed, faintly remembering the musical himself. "Thank you so much, De" his voice then softened and Deceit smiled, "I'd totally not rather be asleep" he responded and Patton laughed, pulling him into a hug.
"Love ya, De"
Deceit hugged back, "I love you too"
Quickly Patton set to work on the gift that would take the most time; Virgil's jacket. He had plenty of pictures of Virgil wearing it on his phone but also managed to snag it from home anyway on his quick trip back. They were all awake but busy doing their own thing, so it was pretty easy to sneak in and out. While walking through town he stepped into a book store and found a few books about parenting - he needed them anyway so revealing his pregnancy through them was petting two birds with one hand.
The cashier smiled at the sight of them but didn't say a word and Patton carried on with his day, extremely cautious and aware of his surroundings - he knew falling over probably wouldn't cause much damage at this point but he didn't want to risk anything.
The craft store was open and Patton spoke to the kind lady behind the counter, asking what the best way would be to make a baby version. She said she took request and offered to make it for him which he instantly agreed to - she then suggested to use buttons instead of a zip and Patton thought that to be adorable so jumped aboard the idea. After talking for awhile longer she said she'd be finished in two weeks and Patton left the store grinning widely.
Roman's reveal didn't need anything physical, all Patton needed to do was memorise Eliza's words in the song as he knew Roman knew it off by heart and would quickly begin singing the song with him. But he did feel a little bad he wouldn't have anything tangible, so we went into a store and quickly found a mug with the words 'Number One Dad' on it.
On the drive home he wore the biggest smile and did for the rest of the day - he was questioned a few times but he merely responded with a dismissive line. The three boyfriends knew something was up but didn't say anything, if Patton was planning a surprise they'd let him, even if Virgil was a bit anxious.
The first person he revealed to was Logan, knowing he'd be able to stay quiet about it. He trusted Virgil and Roman but he knew Roman would freak out and possibly accidentally blab, so he would be told last. A few days later after discovering he was pregnant he was home alone with Logan, Virgil and Roman out on a date. Sometimes they either went on coupled dates or group dates - depending how busy everyone else was and if it was with Virgil how anxious he was that day, sometimes he doesn't think he could be with his three boyfriends in público due to the stares. He isn't ashamed, just anxious. And the three understood and never loved him any less.
Logan spent most his day in the office, but as soon as he slipped out to go to the bathroom Patton rushed in and placed a 'parenting tips' book off to the side but definitely where he would notice. He then scuttled out before Logan could see and hurried down the stairs, flopping down on the couch (carefully) and grinning into his hands. He didn't have any doubts that Logan would understand and waited patiently for him to find him while watching Spongebob.
Five minutes passed and Logan poked his head through the doorway, Patton looked over and hummed. "Hey, Logy Bear" he called, playing with the television controller absentmindedly. Logan silently walked into the room and perched beside him on the couch, Patton sat up and looked at the book in his hands.
"Patton?" He prompted, the man in question beamed. "Yeah?" He feigned innocence, Logan tapped the book.
"Are you pregnant?" His voice dropped to almost a whisper and Patton giggled, shuffling closer and gripping his arm, tears springing in his eyes. "Yes, I am" he responded just as quietly and Logan took in a breath of air, gripping the book tighter. "Oh" he whispered, unable to think of a response, very unlike him.
Patton giggled fondly and rested his hands on his shoulders, pulling him into a kiss which he managed to reciprocate a few seconds later. Once pulling back Patton gasped at the sight of tears rolling down Logan's cheeks. "Oh, Logy...Bear" at the sight he began to cry too and they hugged tightly, crying into each other's shoulders.
"Wh-when?" Logan stammered, sitting up again and wiping his tears. Patton pushed away his hands and cupped his cheeks, using his thumbs to wipe his tears away instead. "A few days ago, on the fifth" he responded, "that's why I went to Deceit and Remus' home...I needed their advice on how to tell you guys"
Logan nodded, nudging up his glasses, everything clicking into place. "Have you told the others?"
Patton shook his head, "I'm telling Roman through song and I'm getting a smaller version of Virgil's favourite jacket made" he explained and Logan broke out into a smile, that was perfect.
Patton giggled and somehow shuffled closer, he loved the sight of Logan's smile. "What did you think..? What did you do? When you saw it?" He gestured to the book and Logan let out a shaky sigh, "I...I froze for a moment. I hadn't even sat down, it confused me too. I assumed it was a hint that you wanted a child but I remembered to our..." he swallowed and Patton giggled again, "to our sexual intercourse a few nights ago" he looked back at Patton.
"I didn't want to assume but I...felt butterflies in my stomach. I realised in that moment I really wanted it and-" he looked down at Patton's stomach for a moment, then back up at his face. "May I?" He whispered and Patton nodded, pulling up his shirt to reveal his stomach. Timidly and softly Logan placed his hand on his stomach, gently stroking his fingers across the smooth skin.
"Newton" he whispered, "I-we...we're going to be fathers"
Patton nodded and pulled him into another kiss, adoring the touch of his husband's hand on his stomach.
"Can you keep it a secret?" He whispered and Logan nodded, "of course"
Patton hated waiting so long, he felt terrible he and Logan knew while Roman and Virgil didn't, but he really wanted the reveals to be special. It was also unfortunate as Logan wanted to take him to the doctor to get tests done to officiate it and to get some professional advice but Patton wanted them all there.
Thankfully, even though it felt like years, the two weeks passed and Patton returned to the store. The lady, as kind as ever, gave him the jacket all wrapped up in purple paper and he nearly cried he was so grateful.
He wanted to speed home but his driving had become incredibly slower and safer, getting into a crash was never front and centre on his mind while driving alone but now he had 'special cargo' and would never forgive himself if he let his baby get hurt. In him or not.
Thankfully Roman was busy at the theatre (in which he performed frequently) leaving Virgil and Logan the only ones home. Getting out the car he gripped the jacket tight and walked inside, calling Virgil's name while closing the door.
"In here!" He responded from deeper in the house and Patton grinned, walking down the hallway to the large conservatory, basically Virgil's art studio, where he did his work (mostly commissions).
"Hey Bambi, what's up?" He turned from his canvas and Patton skipped over too it, gazing at it closely. It was a painting off two people kissing atop a bridge over a beautiful river. "It's amazing Virgil, as always" he praised and the man blushed, leaning into his side hug.
"Thanks...what's that?" He gestured to the gift to change the topic, grabbing a damp rag and wiping away paint from his hands.
"It's a gift, for you" Patton clarified, grabbing a chair and sitting beside him. "Aw Bambi...you didn't have to" he smiled softly and Patton giggled, kissing his cheek affectionately.
"But I wanted to" he countered and Virgil couldn't argue, carefully tearing away the paper and delicately pulling out the jacket. It really did look like his but shrunk - and with buttons rather than a zip.
"It's...my jacket?" He rose an eyebrow, his actual jacket hung up on a hook near the door, the idea of getting paint on it made him shudder. "Yep!" Patton nodded, grinning. "Does it fit?"
"Uh..." Virgil held it up, "no, it's for a bab-" he froze, eyes dilating. They snapped to Patton who covered his mouth with his hands, chuckling quietly.
"Bambi..." he whispered, biting his bottom lip. "Pat, Pat...are-..." he stuttered, eyes rimming with tears. "Are you..?" He whispered and Patton nodded hurriedly, "I am" he responded, laying a hand on his stomach.
Virgil held the jacket to his face, eyes peering at Patton in shock but pure happiness. "C'mere, Angel" Patton opened his arms and Virgil let out a small sob, collapsing into him and crying against his shoulder. Patton, of course, cried too, holding onto his boy extra tight in fear he'd fall to the ground in a heap.
"Oh-oh my god...when? Was it the..?" He blushed deeply and Patton nodded, "yeah, that night, the fifth" pulling back he cleaned away Virgil's tears, "I'm sorry I took so long to tell you, I wanted to tell you all on the same day but I wanted the reveal to be special, and the kind lady who made this said it would be two weeks" he babbled a bit and Virgil kissed him gently to shut him up.
"It's okay, Pat" he whispered, "really, this..." he gripped the jacket tighter, huffing out in happiness. "I love this - thank you"
They hugged and kissed again, laughing in joy.
"What about the others?"
"Lo knows, I left a 'parenting tips' book for him to find" he giggled, "but I didn't tell Roman. I will through song! But I knew if I told him first he might accidentally let it slip"
Virgil laughed and agreed, the man definitely would. "Oh, and Deceit and Remus"
That made him quirk an eyebrow, "they were the first to know, only because I needed help on how to tell you guys! And I...really wanted to tell someone" Virgil shook his head and smiled fondly, physically unable to ever be mad or upset with this adorable man.
"I love you, Bambi" the man blushed and giggled. "I love you too, Angel!"
Patton wasted no time in telling Roman on the same day, after bringing Logan and Virgil together so they both knew each other knew he left to go to the theatre, unable to wait any longer.
Roman met him out front after receiving his text. "Hey, Roro!" Patton grinned, rushing up to hug him. "Greetings, my beautiful Cookie" he twirled him around and kissed his forehead, "to what do I owe the pleasure?" He asked, holding Patton up after the man wrapped his legs around his waist.
"Can we sing a song together? On stage?" He requested, cheeks twinging pink. Roman's eyes brightened, "of course! What do you have in mind?" While talking he carried Patton inside and to the main room where the stage was located. "You'll see" Patton responded, not wanting to give anything away too soon.
Roman hummed, he did enjoy a mystery. There were a few people in the room already, either sitting on the seats or on the stage. Patton didn't pay them no mind, he often sang in front of people (namely his boyfriends) so he wasn't scared or shy.
They climbed up on stage and Patton took in a breath, gazing at his boyfriend before him. "Ready?" He asked, Roman nodded and clasped his hands together exuberantly. "Ready!" He confirmed, gaining a few people's attention.
"Good" Patton took a breath, then began to sing.
"Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now. Look around, look around" Patton began and Roman gasped, he loved Hamilton! So much so he didn't even register the meaning of the song, just began to sing too.
"How long have you known?" He continued, some more people around them glancing over and smiling.
"Two week's or so" Patton stepped closer, modifying the lyrics just a bit, his stomach curling with butterflies, hoping Roman would catch on.
"Eliza, you should have told me" Roman moved closer too, grin wide on his face but for different reasons.
"I wrote to the General a month ago"
"No.."
"I begged him to send you home"
"You should have told me"
"I'm not sorry...I knew you'd fight until the war was won, but you deserve a chance to meet your child. Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now" Patton reached forward and held Roman's hand, the man instantly held back, not breaking the song.
"Will you relish being a poor man's husband, unable to provide for your life?"
Patton grinned, "I relish being your husband... look around, look around, look at where you are. Look at where you started, the fact that you're alive is a miracle. Just stay alive, that would be enough" he rose his other hand and cupped Roman's cheek, the man tilted his hand into his palm, still not catching on.
"And if this child shares a fraction of your smile, or a fragment of your mind, look out world, that would be enough" while singing, Patton took the hand he was holding and laid it across his stomach, grinning wider at his boyfriend who drew his eyebrows together, confusing yet clarity crossing his features. Everyone else watched on in curiosity.
"I don't pretend to know the challenges you're facing, the worlds you keep erasing and creating in your mind, but I'm not afraid, I know who I married, so long as you come home at the end of the day... that would be enough" he giggled a little, knowing he didn't marry Roman and rather Logan, but the sentiment still existed behind his choice of song.
Roman just watched on in silent shock, he didn't want to assume anything but...could it be?
"We don't need a legacy, we don't need money, if I could grant you peace of mind, if you could let me inside your heart, oh, let me be a part of the narrative, in the story they will write someday, let this moment be the first chapter where you decide to stay..." Patton took those few steps closer, still cupping his boyfriend's cheek, tearing up.
"And I could be enough, and we could be enough, that would be enough" he finished and the room went silent, Patton giggled quietly and brushed their noses together. "I'm pregnant, Roro" he whispered and the man instantaneously burst into tears, scooping Patton up into a hug while being extremely careful of his stomach. The two cried together while everyone in the room cheered them on, a share of congratulations and general excitement.
"I'm going to be a dad!" Roman clarified, twirling his boy around. Patton laughed and brought him into a deep kiss, "the best dad in the world" he whispered, gazing into his eyes lovingly.
Roman went home early after that, still giddy as ever, proclaiming his parenthood to anyone and everyone he could.
"When did you find out?" Roman gushed, the two sitting in the car, Roman taking the steering wheel. "On the fifth, sorry I took so long to tell, I had to wait two weeks for Virgil's jacket to be made. I wanted a special reveal for all of you and made a baby version of Virgil's favourite jacket, and placed a 'parenting tips' book out for Logan. And I'm also sorry your last to know but...you're not the best at keeping secrets" Roman laughed, too excited to be offended.
"You're perfect, Patton. The wait was worth it" he dismissed and Patton relaxed, then made a noise of remembrance, leaning into the back of the car and grabbing a wrapped box. "This is for you" he handed it over and Roman teared it off, opening the box and gasping.
The mug with 'number one dad' staring at him.
He placed the mug to the side and hugged his boyfriend tight. "I love you so, so much my Cookie" Roman kissed him, stroking his cheek. "I'll take care and protect you every day, I promise. No harm will ever come to you" Patton giggled, pushing their noses together.
"I know, Roman. I love you too"
Now everyone knew the four men had a celebration, eating out in Patton's favourite restaurant, then afterwards taking a trip to the park with the sun setting beautifully in the distance.
Logan insisted to check in with the doctors so that's exactly what they did the next day, confirming Patton's pregnancy through a blood test. They all knew it to be true anyway yet still shared tears and hugs again - they were extremely overwhelmed with emotions in the best way, and Patton knew they'd all be terrific fathers.
Confirming the date for the first ultrasound and receiving professional advice the four men went home, Patton sitting in the back beside Virgil who held his hand the entire time.
Patton felt loved and he could cry out of pure joy forever.
He did have tough moments during the course of the pregnancy but each time his boyfriends were there for him - they were also there for him even if he didn't need it. They were protective and excited, that's all, Patton couldn't blame them but did feel a little overwhelmed sometimes and still disliked having all attention on him - he knew they were only trying to help but he did end up snapping at them once or twice...which led to him crying because he felt so bad, emotions turned up a few notches.
That's when they all sat down and discussed boundaries, realising that yes they were all being a bit too much for poor Patton, and it was settled they'd back off a bit and mostly treat him as normal, yet still catering to his pregnancy needs.
And that was when Patton confirmed his love for his boyfriends, his serious, true love. These are the people he wanted to spend all his life with, to make a family with, there was no doubt there. They were all perfect in their own ways and Patton couldn't ask for better.
Laying between them all, his stomach curving into a nice, round bump, with them cuddled close and protectively he teared up - his emotions could get a bit much sometimes but...surrounded by love and warmth, he couldn't really help that.
"You'll have the best dads in the world" he whispered to his baby, stroking his stomach softly.
"The best dad's ever..."
