Virgil panted heavily, relishing in the touch of Roman's hands against his hot and sticky body, the two both struggling to keep quiet as they pulled their bodies impossibly close, Roman thrusting in and out at a fast-paced rhythm, kissing sloppily as their tongues battled against each other, Virgil's nails scratching against his bare back.
They had managed to keep up their secret relationship for quite some time - six months specifically. There have been a few close calls, but quickly managed to either brush it off as play fighting or make it seem they weren't doing anything 'saucy' in the first place.
They don't feel bad about it, either. They're step-brothers so technically it's not incest. They know it's bad when one has to say 'technically' however they couldn't care, they were in love - no one had to know one parent of theirs was married to the other.
Once hitting his climax, Roman clamped his hand over Virgil's mouth, knowing he became extremely louder when he came. Afterwards he laid limp on the bed, halfway to exhaustion, waiting for Roman to finish so they could clean up and cuddle until they inevitably had to split apart and make sure their parents wouldn't walk in.
"You're so hot like this" Roman whispered against his skin, kissing his neck. Virgil couldn't help but smile a little at that, running his hand a few times through Roman's hair, helping him reach his release which came pretty quickly after his own.
After caressing each other for a few moments longer, Roman finally stood up and walked into the connected bathroom, heading back in with a rag to clean each other up and the blanket underneath, the two changing into sweats and a t-shirt as today was a relaxation day - aka every Sunday.
Once Roman laid back down, Virgil drew himself closer to his warm body, bringing the blanket closer to each other. "M'love you" he murmured against his collarbone, smiling as Roman chuckled, his laugh lifting his spirits. "I love you too, Dearest" Roman responded, just as quiet, not wanting to ruin the serenity.
They stayed like that for longer than planned, but neither didn't mind, in fact they'd stayed cuddled up all day if they could, but with the chances of someone walking in, they couldn't.
"Just wait" Roman murmured once they finally pulled away and stood up. "Wait until we move out - I can kiss and make love to you wherever we want without a care" he grinned, delicately scooping Virgil up, arms wrapped around the dip in his back, Virgil curled his arms around his neck, leaning up to kiss him ever so softly.
"Mmm, I can't wait" he hummed, eyes closed, smiling against Roman.
"Come on - a prince needs to eat" Virgil rolled his eyes fondly, still amused by the fact Roman thinks so highly of himself. They both walked down the stairs, hands itching to be held but that would be a bad move, especially out in the open.
They entered the kitchen, hearing the sounds of their younger brothers playing in the garden. Roman ignored them in favour of heading to the fridge while Virgil looked out the window, watching them while Roman prepared something for them both. In the midst of Roman's humming, Virgil heard the sound of footsteps and looked towards the door, managing a smile at his mother who didn't smile back, just sat down at the table silently, hands folded over one another.
He drew his eyebrows together in confusion, wondering what was wrong when their father walked in, too, looking as pale and less than pleased like their mom. Virgil cleared his throat, gaining Roman's attention. The boy stared intently at his parents, feeling the tense atmosphere settling across the room. He paused on the food, walking over to Virgil, silently asking what was up when their father barked at them, making them both flinch.
"Don't move another step, Roman"
The boy turned his head in surprise, but didn't listen, not stopping until he was by Virgil's side. "Why? What's going on?" He asked, eyes narrowed in suspicion.
"You don't think we know?" Their mother whispered, disgust dripping from each word. The boys felt their hearts drop to their stomachs.
"We didn't want to believe it" she shook her head, covering her face with her hands. "But it's true, isn't it? You two are having sex-brothers! Having sex!" She exclaimed, clear resentment mixing with her tone.
Roman glanced at Virgil, he could feel the poor boys panic falling off of him in waves. "Mom-"
"Don't" she cut off her son, shaking her head. "Just don't"
"You two are a disgrace" their father muttered in disdain, glaring at the table he sat at. Roman instinctively reached out and gripped Virgil's hand, squeezing it tightly, silently reassuring him everything will be okay - he'll make sure everything will be okay.
"And this can't continue" their mother carried on for her husband, Virgil took in a sharp intake of air. "You can't-" Roman tried but backed up into the counter when his father emerged from his chair so fast - so sharp for a moment Roman thought he would...hit him.
"We can do whatever we want!" He roared, Virgil whimpered and ducked behind Roman who glared at his father, "and we're stopping this - for good" he confirmed, and that's when both boys lives were taken away from them and poured down the drain.
Their parents sure did end their relationship, it was an instant occurrence, happening so fast the two boys couldn't do anything to stop it - they didn't even entirely understand until the day came up - until they were split away from each other for what felt like was going to be forever.
With Virgil being dragged away into a car and Roman held back by his father, the two had both means of communication cut off instantly - their phones destroyed, social media accounts deactivated, they couldn't recall the others phone number off by heart, and even if they could their parents changed them anyway.
They couldn't talk and neither could do anything about it.
Especially as Virgil was moved out the country before he could even object. Forced to live with his aunt who had moved to Britain a few decades prior. It was tough. It was brutal, even - to them, they both could describe it as torture.
Roman was angry, in fact beyond angry, he was resentful and grew to hate the people he lived with. His younger brothers wondered what was happening, why was Virgil taken away, and they were lied to, their parents didn't want to "corrupt" their innocent minds - they were told Virgil had done something bad, something terrible, something so inhuman he had to be taken away. Roman despised that action, for now they saw him in a light he wasn't supposed to be seen in - to them, he was a bad guy, someone they should stay away from forever.
The worst part about it all was Roman's parents cared more for each other than their own children. If they wanted nothing to do with Virgil, then they could have nothing to do with Roman. Every day, every single day he gave them the cold shoulder, he would ignore them, trash food made for him in favour of cooking his own - he would never go with them out, to the shops, or on holiday.
And that angered them - it really did, but that was nothing to what Roman felt. They destroyed his life and deserved much, much worse than the silent treatment.
Roman didn't know he could hold a grudge for so long, six years in fact, but he did. The only time he did utter a word to them since the day Virgil was taken away was 'fuck you'. He knew he could do so much worse (verbally, of course) but that would be giving into what they wanted. He knew never speaking to them again would destroy them.
Who cares if his father beat him a few times because of it - he sure didn't.
For Virgil it was just as bad. Being placed in a new country, with strangers in a new school. He was alone. Alone for so many years. It wasn't his aunt's fault he was taken away, sure, but it wasn't like she would let him go back, and kept a twenty four hour surveillance on him - it seemed - he knew she went through his phone whenever she had the chance, but she wouldn't find much. Virgil tried - every fucking day he tried to find Roman but he couldn't...he wasn't anywhere.
He withdrew himself from the world, avoided people, talked to no one, became a mute for so, so long, for he couldn't bring himself to speak - especially to the person who helped ruin his life. His aunt would try, god she would, but nothing made Virgil speak - absolutely, positively nothing made him even muster a single vowel.
There was one person he spoke to, however, but it was minimal, his name was Patton. They became friends after Virgil's first month in school - it took awhile before Virgil admitted to Patton what happened and boy did he cry with him, thinking it was one of the cruelest things someone could do to someone else.
Patton was there for him for the next six years, keeping him company, managing to make him smile, even if it was rare and small, it was there. He stopped him from doing anything stupid, and helped him live a life outside of his aunt's eyes - allowed him to search things on his own phone, try and find Roman, he helped him, everyday, but they couldn't. It seemed impossible - it might as well be.
Six years - six excruciating years. Both Roman and Virgil said they were over it, they weren't in love anymore, barely even thought about their step-brother. What was the point? It led to pain - every time. Unbearable, searing pain.
But Patton knew - he could see through Virgil's lies and couldn't bare to see him in so much deep regret each and everyday.
He devised a plan.
He would take Virgil on holiday.
It was a surprise holiday, he explained, couldn't know where they were going until they landed there. Virgil had stared at him for awhile in amusement, wondering if what he was suggesting was real or some big prank - it was April first, after all, but after Patton insisted - who would Virgil be to say no?
He knew they were going to someplace in America, truly he didn't even think about Roman, the thoughts to painful to remember. Patton hadn't mentioned him in so long he assumed he forgot, too.
"It's a surprise" Patton would shut him down whenever he asked, so in the end he gave up and the two spent the next bunch of hours on the plane, sometimes talking, sometimes not. They both napped for awhile, too, watched movies, listened to music - anything that would cure their boredom.
As they wandered through the airport, Patton made sure Virgil kept his eyes glued to the ground, not wanting him to read any signs to give away where they were. By the time they were outside and inside the Uber he called for, Virgil gave Patton a deadpan look when he brought out a blindfold.
With enough encouragements and pleas, he finally put it on along with his earphones. He trusted Patton - six years of friendship would do that to him - he knew Patton wouldn't leave him or pull something cruel.
He gave the address to the driver and they sped through the city - Patton gazing up at everything, he lived in a small town all his life, he had never seen such tall buildings before! It was astonishing but he needed to focus on the matter at hand. Going to Virgil's old home, finding out where Roman was (if he wasn't there) and bringing Virgil to him. He needed to see them together again - six years of heartache later Patton's mission was set and nothing was getting in his way.
"Wait here, okay Virgie?" Patton asked once plucking out an earphone. "Yep, you got it" Virgil sighed, putting it back in once he heard Patton's giggle. He left the car, telling the driver to wait a moment as he rushed up to the large house, noticing two teens sitting out in the front garden, looking up at Patton as he passed by.
"Who're you?" One called. Patton looked over at him and smiled. "I'm a friend of Roman's!" He hated to lie but, like he stated prior, nothing was getting in his way, so who cares if he has to make a few white lies?
"Oh" the same boy replied, stood up and brushed away the grass covering his shorts. "He came back for a few nights to stay over - I'll get him if you want?" He suggested, brushing back his immensely thick, curly hair. Patton smiled gratefully and nodded, the other teenager stood up, too, sent Patton a smile and hurried after his brother.
He only had to wait outside for a few minutes before a man emerged. Patton was surprised - he looked very similar to what he imagined, but Virgil had gone on many rants about Roman's beauty, so he could see why. He was an older version of what Virgil described - obviously - with soft brown locks, amber brown eyes, that enticing sharp jaw line and charming smirk.
"Greetings - I don't think we've met" his voice was low and sultry, Patton giggled and shrugged. "No, we haven't, sorry for lying but it's for good reason...I know you, though"
Roman cocked his head, "oh? How?"
Patton grinned brightly, "Virgil told me all about you"
Roman tensed, his face loosing colour quite quickly at the mention of the name. His eyes darkened, running icy cold.
"Leave-leave right now" Roman demanded, taking a few menacing steps closer, Patton backed off quickly, holding his hands up in defence. "Roman-"
"Leave! I don't want to hear that name again! Go!"
Patton wanted to run, he sounded terrifyingly angry, but Patton saw through it, he was admittedly good at that - he was angry because he was hurt, that name brought back memories of pain - six years of regret, anger, broken hearted sorrow. Patton would be cruel to leave without letting the two interact.
"Roman" Patton murmured, gesturing to the car. "He's here"
Roman opened his mouth, closed it, then looked over at the car, his tense posture wavering, eyes blinking rapidly as they coated with a glare of tears. "He-he is?" He whispered, voice breaking on him as he imagined Virgil sitting in that car, waiting, just a few yards away.
Patton smiled and nodded, watching as Roman slowly walked over, hands shaking as he rounded to Virgil's side of the car, noticing how he had a cover over his eyes. He opened the door, covering his mouth as he stared at the boy before him - it was Virgil. His Virgil.
Tears began to track down his cheeks as he shakily bent down and lifted away the blindfold.
"Oh-Patton-sheesh a warning would be nice-" Virgil cut himself off, plucking the earphones from his ears, eyes (now used to the brightness) landing on Roman who's face split out into a grin.
"Oh-oh...oh...Ro-man" his voice broke on his name, the only word he could manage before he was toppling out the car and jumping into his arms, the two standing in the middle of the street, hugging the other tight, so tight, like they would crumble and fade away if they were to let go.
Patton collected their things from the car, paid the driver and let him go, guiding the two step-brothers onto the pavement. He took a seat on his suitcase, watching happily as the two collapsed to the ground in fits of sobs, clinging onto each other like they were a lifeline - without them they wouldn't survive, not this time, not again.
Patton glanced over at the house, spotting an older couple on the porch, staring at them. Anger flared in his eyes - an emotion usually never seen there before - he arose and took a protective stance before his best friend and his lover, hands clenched, looking as menacing as a cupcake, but daring the two to touch them, to lay a single finger on them, if they did, all Hell would break lose from the usual happy and bubbly boy.
They neared, so did he, "stay away from my friends" he muttered darkly to the couple who stopped, completely shocked to see their son again, their son they abandoned because of their views. They began nearing again, Patton didn't want to have to resort to something physical, but it seemed he didn't have two, for suddenly the two boys from earlier were standing either side of him, their hands clenched, too, eyes as dark as Patton's.
Yes, they once believed Virgil was a bad guy, a villain, a criminal. But they noticed Roman's behaviour, they saw how much he cried - no one would be so upset after losing someone who was supposedly bad. Besides, they couldn't continue believing their parents, especially now, both of them being gay, knowing their parents wouldn't love them anyway.
If their brother and step-brother were in love - they would make sure their parents couldn't get to them.
"Roman!" His step brother called, Virgil's brother. The two looked over, drawing back when they saw their parents advancing, being held back as much as they could. "We'll get your stuff - go, go!" He demanded, the two didn't need to be told twice - they grabbed both Patton's and Virgil's stuff, rushing down the street, ignoring the yells of their parents as they disappeared, away from the couple forever.
In the end, who knew by pushing away one child they'd lose them all?
Coming here was worth it, keeping it a secret was worth it - Patton wouldn't change this moment for the world, sitting with the brothers, watching Roman and Virgil across from them in their shared hotel room, hugging, holding each other, kissing, sharing whispers, unable to let one another go.
They were in love, that was for sure.
If anyone tried to split them up again they would wish they were never born.
