"Roman!" His mother called, opening her son's bedroom door and leaning in. He was sprawled across his bed, head propped up by his arm, the other holding up his phone where he read a story from. A fanfiction specifically. "Yeah?" He replied absentmindedly, not giving her any attention.

"You need to tidy your room" she explained and Roman's eyes flickered across his room that was clean, as always, he couldn't stand living in a messy space. "Oh do I" he replied monotonously and she sighed, walking into the room and putting her hands on her hips.

"I mean" she corrected, "move stuff from this side of your room to your side or up in the attic"

Roman rose an eyebrow, "why?" He hadn't been informed he was having his room changed around. She turned to look at him, "my best friend - Lila, remember her?" He did not "is staying over for a few months with her son, you know, Logan?" Again, he did not. "And he's sharing your room. I told you this"

At the last sentence Roman flew up, phone dropping onto the floor in his shock. "What?" He yelped, definitely not being told this pertinent information before this!

"I'm not sharing a room with someone I don't know! What if he's weird?!" Roman cried out, jumping up from his bed, ready to collapse to his knees and beg but his mother wore that expression that Roman knew meant she was serious and he wasn't getting out of it.

"Our guest room is for Lila" his mother added so he couldn't use that excuse.

"What about the other one?" He tried to which his mother snorted in amusement.

"We turned that into a gym years ago, Roman, keep up" and with that she left his room, pushing open the door wider to prove she'd come check on him soon to see if he had done anything. Roman clenched his hands into fists, glaring at where his mother once stood. He couldn't believe this! He's only shared a room a few times in his life and each time he's hated it. He enjoyed his privacy and besides, he didn't even know who Logan was! What if he was a kid? Well, Roman tilted his head in thought, kids aren't that bad, he can handle them pretty well.

But someone his age? That'd be awkward, especially if they were older. Roman shuddered and prayed whoever Logan was was a little child.

A few days passed and Roman quickly discovered he was wrong. His hopes were crushed. Dreams destroyed. Thoughts of him sharing a room with a child he could entertain and teach video games too thrusted into the trash.

Logan was his age and he was currently throwing a fit.

"I'm not sharing a room with him!" Roman stomped his foot like a real mature sixteen year old, his parents merely rolled their eyes at his behaviour. "You will, Roman, end of discussion"

"But-!"

"Roman" and he stopped when his dad's voice hardened. With a huff he stormed out the room, barely avoiding slamming the door for he did not want to get into any more trouble. Marching to his room he sat down on his bed and glared at the makeshift bed across the room, the one that creaked, squeaked and glared the word 'ugly'. Roman couldn't believe his room, his beautiful room had turned into this. One half full of his stuff, the other bare with a bed and a chest of draws opposite.

This 'Logan' guy could think twice if he thought he was using Roman's closet.

As soon as he was in his room he was out again for the doorbell rang signalling the arrival of his new roommate. He hurried down the staircase, pausing behind his parents who opened the door, he was eager to see what Logan looked like hoping he wouldn't give off a 'weird' vibe. Yes Roman was being judgemental he'd admit it but he didn't want to share a room with a stranger! It was awkward. He was sure many would agree.

"Lila!" Roman's Mother shrieked, pulling the woman into a hug, both laughing joyously. Roman's father smiled at the sight while Roman was focused on the boy standing behind them beside two suitcases. Okay, Roman thought with slightly narrowed eyes, he was attractive, Ro would give him that, but he looked too stuck up and stiff so Roman knew this wouldn't be an enjoyable experience.

"Roman, this is Lila, you remember her"

No, not at all

"And this is her son, Logan!" She pointed at the boy who averted his eyes to meet with Roman, lifting his head back just that slight bit, analysing the teen dressed in extravagant clothes. Logan knew this wouldn't be an enjoyable experience.

"Why don't you show him your room?" Roman's mother smiled before taking Lila away, their father joining them and giving Lila a quick hug, too.

"Roman, it is nice to meet you" Logan walked up to him with his hand stuck out. Roman strongly shook it, "same to you, I guess" he muttered, turning around with an exaggerated sigh. "Follow me to my room" he emphasised to not give Logan any wrong ideas, pulling himself up the staircase while Logan followed as best as he could, not easy with a suitcase trailing behind him.

"That's your side" Roman pointed to it when they both entered, "and that's mine" he gestured to his own, sitting down on his bed. "Don't enter my side and I won't enter yours, I like my privacy" and Logan nodded, he preferred his privacy too and would much rather avoid someone looking through his stuff although most of it was just clothes.

"Can I use this?" He pointed to the chest of draws and Roman nodded, kicking his legs up onto his bed and watching something on his television hooked up onto the wall opposite him, every so often glancing at Logan to see what he was doing. First he completely unpacked his suitcase and laid it neatly into different draws (which baffled Roman - who unpacked their stuff on the first day? All at once?).

Then he sat down on his bed, placed his shoes beside it and opened a journal (Roman presumed) which he began to write inside of for quite sometime. Roman was curious but he'd never look inside of it, he respected people enough to not snoop through their shit.

Still, the boys weren't on the greatest terms and both knew that.

And the parents regretted ever giving the two a room to share.

First their arguments started small, nothing really, something you'd have between brothers but then they began to get worse...

Every night Logan would complain that Roman stayed up too late:

"I'm trying to sleep, Roman! Turn your television down!"

And Roman would turn it down, then few minutes later he'd turn it back up to an even higher volume which pissed Logan off to no end.

Roman would complain that Logan spent too long in the bathroom:

"I need to go, nerd!" Roman banged heavily on the door, listening to the noise of the shower.

"Maybe if you woke up earlier you'd get here first" Logan called back and Roman clenched his jaw, not stopping banging on the door until Logan left early or his parents told him off.

Roman would always steal food in the fridge Logan specifically wanted:

"Roman, that was mine! I even left a note on it!"

Roman stopped chewing on Logan's sandwich, giving him a side eye without too much care. "Yep, it's mine now" and he took a big bite out of it to piss him off which worked every time.

And there were much, much more things the two went through that infuriated all their parents but no matter how much they told them off they'd simply carry on, being in each other's presence was unbearable and they couldn't stand looking at the other without getting ticked off. They both knew sharing a room would be difficult but they didn't realise it would be this bad.

Things got seriously bad one certain evening when all the adults were out for a meal.

"Roman will you leave me alone?" Logan finally broke, standing up from the couch to face the boy who wouldn't stop pestering him. "No! You stole my phone!"

Logan groaned, "why would I ever steal something of yours?"

"Duh! Because we hate each other?! Now give it bad, nerd!" Roman demanded, eyes blazing. Logan clenched his hands and jaw, taking a step closer to Roman who did the same, never one to back down.

"I didn't take your fucking phone" Logan spat his words with resentment clearly mixed with them.

"Then where is it!?"

"I don't know!" Logan cried, "why would I know!?"

"Because you took it!" Roman accused once again and Logan was breathing harshly now, along with Roman, the anger both were feeling wasn't getting any better, in fact it was becoming worse, stronger, more heated with everything they shouted, Roman truly believing Logan took his phone while Logan tried to deny it.

"Roman will you start acting your age for once?" Logan hissed, "you're the most immature boy I've ever met! And that's saying a lot"

Roman's glare darkened, "well you're the most annoying boy I've ever met!"

"See? This is what I mean!" Logan gestured to him wildly.

"You started it!"

Logan placed a hand over his face wearily, "no wonder your dad doesn't enjoy talking to you" he muttered and Roman drew a slight step back, he...knew that, of course he knew that, his parents weren't exactly fond of him but hearing it hurts more than whatever he could say to himself. So he fired right back without thinking.

"At least I have a dad"

And the room fell into a thick, tense silence. Logan slowly lifted his eyes to stare at Roman and they had somehow filled with more rage before, in fact Roman had never seen so much anger in him - or anyone.

In a flash Roman was crying out in pain, falling back into the wall after Logan reeled forward and punched him square in his cheek. "What the fuck?!" He yelled, clutching his face, not even noticing Logan's instant regret for he was retaliating, punching him back, so hard his glasses flew off his face and onto the couch.

Their grunts and yells filled the room as they rolled around on the floor, punching, kicking, hitting the other in anyway they possibly could. Truly everything they had gone through in the past two months, the arguing, glares, constant accusations and purposely annoying had led up to this moment - maybe it would have been handled better if they didn't say such triggering things for the other.

Eventually they split away, across the room from the other, panting heavily, blood seeping from their face and knuckles.

"I fucking hate you" Roman spat, rising to the ground on shaky legs before leaving the room as fast at he could. "The feeling's mutual!" Logan yelled back, having to sit down on the couch for a few moments to calm down, grabbing his glasses and setting them back onto his face.

Lightly touching his skin he winced when he felt his swollen he already was, deciding it was best to not leave it unattended to any longer. He stood up and went into the bathroom, noticing his left eye was black and blue, cheek swollen, blood pouring out his nose.

He cleaned himself up to the best of his ability and grabbed an ice pack from the freezer, sitting down on the couch and laying it gently against his face with a long sigh. Of course he regretted what just happened, he didn't mean to hit Roman but he...loved his dad and being reminded of him brought on a wave of emotions he sometimes couldn't control, especially if someone was making fun of him or - for instance - something like Roman said.

He sat there for awhile thinking about Roman, about their fights and shook his head. He wished he stayed home. He wished Roman was anything but the person he was.

He guessed it was best to sleep downstairs for that night, assuming their parents were staying somewhere else due to getting drunk at wherever they were. However he needed to grab a spare change of clothes so walking to Roman's room he softly and carefully opened the door, staring cautiously at Roman who was laying on his bed, back turned to face most of the room.

Quietly he walked to his dresser and grabbed his pyjamas, glancing at Roman every so often when he made a slight noise of pain, Logan could see him rubbing his skin to try and ease it but it wasn't really doing much. He wanted to leave the room then and there but he already felt bad about starting the fight so this was making it even worse.

"Roman?"

He tensed.

"Fuck off, Logan"

"Just take this" and he held the ice pack in his direction. Roman rolled over and looked up at it, then at Logan, eyes softening slightly. Reaching up he gently took it from his grasp, sitting up to place it to his swollen skin. Thinking he wouldn't say anymore Logan walked over to the door.

"I'm sorry" Roman caught his attention

"It was...wrong of me to bring up your father"

Logan's hand rested on the door handle. "It is...quite alright, I accept your apology. I am also sorry for bring up yours, I am sure it must be difficult for you"

Now there was an awkward, lingering silence until Roman noticed he was carrying his pyjamas. "You can stay in here, the couch isn't comfortable"

Logan swallowed, lifting his shoulders into a light shrug. "I do not mind" he glanced over at his bed, much more tempted to sleep on that then downstairs, so after Roman encouraged him he did so, closing the door and laying his pyjamas onto his blanket. They were both sitting opposite each other, not really knowing what to say.

"You have a strong right hook" Roman brought up and Logan managed a slight smile.

"My father taught me" he breathed out and Roman smiled back.

"What else he teach you? How to be a nerd?"

Logan rolled his eyes. "Oh wait, it's probably in your genes"

"Much like being a prep is in yours" Logan fired back and for once in their 'arguments' they were smiling.

"I was born with it, baby, at least it's more exciting" he winked and Logan scoffed, "reading a book is just as exciting - I bet you've never even picked up a book"

"You're right" he grinned, "I prefer to read on my phone-which is still lost, by the way!"

And Logan suddenly sat up, remembering why their previous argument started in the first place. Timidly he stood up and reached under his pillow, pulling out Roman's phone and quickly handing it over to him. The boy gasped, setting aside the ice and taking it from him quickly. "I knew it!" He exclaimed but much more playfully, both boys would rather avoid physically fighting again. Besides they were both too worn out to get angry.

"I do apologise, you once again stole my food so I retaliated. It was childish of me"

Roman smiled forgivingly, "don't worry about it, nerd, you don't steal my phone and I won't steal your food - deal?" And Logan smiled again, both shaking hands. "Deal" he agreed.

"Alright, well" Roman stood up with the ice. "I'm tired and just want to sleep, maybe...we can stop fighting and become civil - not friends" Roman added on half jokingly and Logan smirked. "I wouldn't want to become friends anyway" he quipped back and Roman chuckled.

"A nerd like you friends with a goddess like me? Impossible" and with that he was strutting out the room, leaving Logan to stifle his laughter as he watched.

Alright, maybe Roman wasn't so bad.

Idk heh part two?
