Buried deep - Virgil x Logan

Trigger warning: buried alive

Woah I'm actually trying to do more analogical?! One of the main ships I least write about?! Hell yeet

Au

Virgil knew he shouldn't have listened to his friends, he knew he should have gone to the police, he knew he shouldn't have left it, brushing it off as him being paranoid, that no one was following him and it was just a coincidence he saw the same man every few times a week as he walked around town.

This was the consequences of his actions, laying down in a coffin, staring up at the wood only a few inches from his face, buried deep under ground with no escape. This is what happens when he doesn't listen to his gut.

And he had no idea what to do. It seemed pointless to start banging on the wood to try and catch the attention of the people above as he was sure whenever he was buried was far away from people, and even then would they be able to hear him? He decided against screaming, too, for no one would be around and he would just waste his breath.

He thought he was going to die, that this was it, he would never be able to admit to Logan his feelings, never get to hug his friend Patton again, and never get to call his best friend Roman an idiot, the last made him shudder - who was going to keep Roman's ego from exploding?

Just when he thought this was it, it was the end, he suddenly remembered something, something that made his eyes widen and lips stretch into a grin.

A Tumblr post.

Not just any Tumblr post; one that told him exactly how to get out of a grave if buried alive. And his friends told him Tumblr was useless - ha!

He closed his eyes for a moment, clenched his hands then began to breathe in deeply, just like the post told him to do - he could see it right there in his mind, breathe in deeply, exhale slowly, and don't swallow - the last thing he should do right now was waste oxygen, as coffins usually didn't have much, and he didn't know how long he had been asleep in this coffin before he woke up.

He then lifted his hands and pushed against the lid of the coffin, shaking it until it unlatched and opened a tad, allowing some loose dirt to fall into the coffin. Virgil let it close again and while continuing his breathing he took off his jacket (which was extremely difficult) then his shirt, which was even more so. Putting back on his jacket, he used his shirt and tied the end, then stuck his head through the head-hole, wearing it upside down, preventing the dirt about to fall onto his face from suffocating him.

He took in another deep breath, exhaled slowly, then with all his strength began to kick the end of the coffin, the wood was low quality and easily broke as he kicked and kicked, the space around his feet and legs filling up with dirt. It began reaching his waist and towards his shoulders as he broke away at the lid, doing everything he could to sit up, desperately trying to keep his breathing steady, but the panic swirling around him like a tornado really wasn't doing him any favours.

Finally, he managed to lift the rest of the lid and push it to the side as dirt surrounded him, heavy but loose, due to the fact it was just dug up for this coffin to be buried in the first place. He began to climb upwards through the mud, kicking his legs and standing on the ground falling below him, grabbing and yanking himself up with anything he could.

When his arm shot up and his fingers felt the light sprinkle of rain, he felt relief flood his system, both hands gripping the ground surrounding the hole, pulling himself up and out, laying on the stable grass, panting heavily while taking off his shirt, leaving it beside him as he breathed in and out deeply.

He honestly wanted to just sleep there he was so tired, but suddenly remembered the fact someone obviously wanted him dead, and if they came back to check on him they weren't going to be very happy if they saw him alive and out of the hole. He stood up, didn't give the coffin another glance and began to run through the forest, fast, faster, the rain becoming heavy, heavier as he sprinted.

Once reaching the street, he relished in the sight of streetlights, knowing exactly where he was. Turning left, he rushed to the house near the end of the road, jumped over the gate his moron of a best friend still hadn't fixed, up to the front door and began hammering.

Only a minute later did it open to reveal a teary eyed Roman who gasped when he saw Virgil standing opposite him.

"What's wrong?" Virgil asked, jumping in, slamming and locking the door behind him, looking through the peephole to see if he was followed.

"You're alive?" Roman whispered. Virgil froze, stared at his best friend, then backed away from him slowly.

"You...it was you?"

Roman shook his head at the implication, then motioned to a man Virgil had never seen before, standing beside Patton and Logan. "He said he saw someone kill you" Roman explained, and by the shock on the man's face, shrouded with a burning rage Virgil was sure the others didn't notice, he knew this was the man who buried him, this was also the man who trailed around the town, stood not too far away when he was shopping, always be a short distance ahead.

Virgil didn't know what else to say other than; "that's...awkward"

"How-how did..." the man trailed off, then Virgil smirked, reached into the can Roman kept his umbrella's in, pulling out the largest one in there. "Tumblr, you fuck" with that, he swung the umbrella down onto the man's head and began to continuously hit him over and over while Logan called the police and Patton kicked him, angry someone would ever dare hurt his friend.

"You were buried alive?" Roman asked in astonishment a few hours later, once the man was in custody and the others were finished being questioned. Virgil nodded, looking and feeling all smug with himself, standing beside Logan and leaning on the wall in the police station.

"and you escaped?" Logan then asked, with the same shock Roman held.

Virgil nodded once more with a smirk; "with the help of Tumblr"

Patton spoke up next. "Kiddo, that's amazing!" He gushed, "and smart, too!"

Virgil suddenly remembered something and wordlessly pulled Patton into a tight hug. Patton didn't hesitate to hug back, happy his close friend was okay and not hurt. Still hugging him, Virgil looked at Roman, "you're an idiot, dude"

The man sighed, "I should have seen that coming" but amusement floated through his eyes nonetheless.

Finally, Virgil pulled back and turned to Logan; that near death experience really gave him confidence to last for a mere few hours, probably, before his anxiety would come back, but he didn't mind much, he's had it all his life, it felt out of place to not question everything he does.

"Lo, when I thought I was gonna die I realised I never actually told you that I liked you, so here I am, telling you I like you, probably don't return it but" he shrugged and looked off to the side, "it's chill" he added - it wouldn't be very 'chill' to him, but he wouldn't want Logan to feel bad.

"You like me?" Logan echoed, behind them Roman and Patton squealed into their hands and jumped up and down. "Romantically speaking?" He then added, Virgil nodded timidly, noticing how Logan seemed to contemplate something, open and close his mouth, and think for awhile.

"It is unquestionable I like you, too, Virgil" he found himself admitting, "I, however, know nothing off relationships and how to be a boyfriend, so I do not know...if I would be good enough for you"

Virgil's heart jumped and began to thumb rapidly; more crazily than when he was in that damn coffin. "Lo, I don't care about that, I like you for you, moron, plus you know how to help me and my panic attacks and I hear give out great cuddles" he winked at Patton who grinned, buzzing in happiness.

When they were teens Patton and Logan used to date, but their relationship ended a few months later when their love began to fade. It didn't affect their friendship at all, though, and both would admit their relationship felt more like a friendship, anyway. However, over the course of those months Patton would testify Logan gave him cuddles he would die for.

Logan felt a smile wobble over his lips, "would you care to go on a date with me, then? This Friday night?" Virgil nodded, his cheeks lighting up with a soft pink.

"Yeah, sounds good"

"Now" Roman stepped in,

"let us get that man locked up and eat ice cream in celebration!"

Um? Yeah
