Guess who needs to pee? This bitch
Trigger warning: mentions of kidnapping, mentions of death, mentions of past suicide
Is this correct with what actually happens in situations like this? I don't know. Is this a fan fiction? Yes, so get over it.

Patton opened the front door when he heard the doorbell ring throughout the house, smiling at the two who stood on his welcome mat. "Patton Sanders?" One questioned, waiting until he nodded in response before they pulled out a badge from their pocket, revealing they were a police officer.
"May we come in?" The second officer asked, gazing at him gently.
"Oh, uh, sure!" He pulled the door open wider for both to step in, closing the door behind them before leading them through the house to the living room. "Would you like a drink?" He offered, smiling at the two, but they both shook their head, reminding him they were only here to talk.
"You cheated!" They heard a screech from down the hallway, Patton sending them sheepish smiles as they did. "Roman, I cannot cheat in this game - you simply do not want to admit I'm better than you" another voice replied, definitely holding a smug undertone.
The police officers found it amusing, spotting the two teens sitting on the couch once they were in the doorway to the living room, on the screen showing they were playing a game of Mario Kart. Patton quickly grabbed one of their controllers, pausing the game and gesturing to the door. Both boys looked over, Roman instantly jumping up when he saw two cops.
"Logan!" He hissed, "I told you to hide the body better!" He exclaimed jokingly, making Logan roll his eyes and stare at him with a quirked eyebrow. "Do not pin the blame on me, if we were to demolish their body with acid - like I suggested - we would never have been caught" Patton stared at his sons with wide eyes, at this point he couldn't tell if they were being serious, until they both snorted and turned to the officers who were both staring in amusement.
"Greetings, you two!" He bowed down a little, "I'm Roman, and this is my partner in crime, my Dearest twin brother, Logan" he gestured grandly to the boy who moved up from the couch to shake their hands, jutting his elbow into Roman's ribs afterwards, making the boy grunt and glare.
"Don't mind him, ever since he set foot on this planet he has been an eccentric moron" Logan quipped, making the dramatic boy gasp ludicrously, holding a hand over his heart and the other outstretched towards his body.
"How dare you, autocorrect!"
"Hm, is that the best you can do, halfwit?"
The two boys went back and forth until Patton stood between the two, sending them both warning states which settled them. "C'mon kiddos, sit back down" he spoke softly, waiting until his two sons ventured back to the couch, Logan sitting down calmly while Roman flopped onto his side, legs kicked up onto the coffee table while Patton let the two officers sit down on the other section of the cornered couch.
Once he sat on the arm chair, the male officer spoke up. "We are here to tell you we have reason to believe..." he hesitated, glancing at the two teens who were staring back in curiosity. "Reason to believe that your son is still alive"
The father gasped, holding a hand over his mouth, staring at the officers with eyes as wide as saucers. He shook his head, unable to believe the news he just received. Although, his two others sons were quick to reply, bombarding the officers with question after question, Roman even stood up, eyes narrowed with anger.
"Reason to believe? How do you know it's him?"
"Where is he? Is he alright?"
"How did you find him?"
"He was pronounced dead - the police were the ones to tell me to stop looking! And you're trying to tell us he's alive?! All this time!?" Roman screamed, "I could've been searching for my brother but whenever I did I was told off! He was kidnapped! And only now you found him?! Years later!?" He ranted, proving he was still furious about what happened so long ago.
"It was unsafe" the police officer replied back calmly, rising from the seat. "We told you to stop for your safety - what if you were kidnapped too?"
"Then I would've found my brother and saved him, something than you couldn't do!"
"You would have left your father and brother with two missing family members-!"
"And I still would have done a better job than you!" He yelled, voice overpowering theirs as it steadily rose. He was shaking with rage, hands clenched so tightly his nails began to dig into his palms, drawing small lines of blood, but he didn't care, they couldn't save his brother, and now so many years later, after they pronounced him dead, have they got a lead?
"How? How did you find him, if it is him?" Logan finally spoke, standing up while grabbing Roman's arm gently, telling him to calm down silently, as he would get into trouble for attacking an officer. The two officers softened their voice back to the tone it was before, wanting to keep the situation calm, and not rile Roman up more than he already was.
"Through another case...the woman who cared for your brother is a suspect in a drug-related crime, we searched her house and found him"
"So, you are trying to tell us you think you found our brother on the soul bases that he looks similar? Because I cannot remember doing any deoxyribonucleic acid testing...DNA testing" he corrected himself quickly after noticing their expression cross with slight confusion.
"He matches the description" the officer shifted a little, regretting coming here in the first place but they both felt it was right to inform the family as soon as they had a lead, "also, he is not related to the man they both said was his father - he died two years ago from a work accident"
"Fucking deserved it" Roman muttered under his breath, sitting back down on the couch to hold his head in his hands, breathing wobbly as he tried to understand the information that was just placed onto his shoulders. Logan slowly sat back down beside his brother, wanting to comfort him, but that was more his fathers forte. Speaking of, the man was still sitting as still as a statue, tears trailing down his cheeks softly. Some part of him never got over his sons kidnapping, it was the main reason his wife took her life...they lost so much.
Finally, he rose his head, eyes gazing at the two people who have the possibility to change their life forever.
"Where is he?"
They arrived at the station an hour later, following the officers as they led them down a hallway. The three were silent, Patton's hand clasped tightly with Roman's, squeezing it softly every now and again in a reassuring and loving way. Each time, Roman sent his father a smile, he had calmed down considerably since the news was revealed to them, now he just felt numb. It was horrible to lose his brother at the age of seven.
"He's in here but..." the officer paused momentarily, hand resting on the doorknob. "Tread carefully" the three nodded, Roman being the first to step into the room once the door was opened. Sitting at a table next to a kind looking woman was a boy no older than sixteen, dressed in dark clothing that was matched perfectly with the patches of purple, bangs falling over his eyes that darted up to the door once it opened.
Patton swallowed thickly, watching the woman wrap an arm around the boy's shoulders, holding him caringly. Logan slowly stepped up to the boy who shrunk into the woman's side, one hand clinging onto her clothing. "Virgil?" His voice was quiet but broken...every part of him wanting this boy to be their brother...so they could be triplets again, and not just twins.
The boy in question glanced up at the woman he held onto. "Who's Virgil?" He whispered quietly, Patton's heart shattering as he did. He almost collapsed, letting out a sob he couldn't control. Instantly, Logan was by his side, arm wrapped around his waist to hold the distraught man up as he cried. Roman moved across the room, leaning on the table opposite the two.
He stared at the woman for the longest time, somewhere in his mind he knew he as seen her before, but he just...couldn't click...
Then, a figurative lightbulb appeared above his head as he pushed himself into the wall, eyes wide. "It's you..." he muttered, alerting the two officers attention. "It's you" he repeated, his fear overpowered by the raging anger that shot through him like a bullet, once again marching across the room.
"You kidnapped my brother" he snarled, slamming his hand on the table, making both of them flinch. "You were there that night...you took my brother" his gaze revealed how much he wanted to hurt the woman sitting opposite, the woman that made Virgil believe she was his mother. The crooked woman that stole him from their perfect family.
"I did not! This is my child!" She yelled back defiantly.
"Then you wouldn't mind doing a DNA test" Logan cut in, still holding his father who buried his face into his shoulders, arms clinging around his son tightly. The boys eyes darted across the strangers in the room with him, wondering if they were all telling the truth, if they actually were his family...his mother was always strange, never letting him outside, keeping him homeschooled, protecting him from anyone from the outside world...he wasn't even allowed to watch television, only a few movies that she deemed "safe".
He was terrified of the world outside of his home.
Later that day, they all sat in a different room, Roman's leg bouncing up and down, agitated. Next to him, Logan was reading one of the magazines they left on show, finding each of them boring apart from the one about nature - he would much rather read a technology magazine, but he supposed he would rather learn about the world of animals than the world of celebrity gossip.
Patton had stopped crying awhile ago, now he was on his knees at the coffee table, colouring in with one of the books that were really there for the kids, but he felt it would pass the time quite quickly. Virgil admittedly wanted to colour in too, but he didn't know how his mother would react, as she still had her arm around his body tightly.
Nevertheless, he was bored out of his mind, and really wanted to colour.
"Can I colour, too?" He questioned, even if he spoke quietly, the room was dead silent, so everyone could hear him. His mother pressed a kiss to his head, shaking her head. "Stay here, Antonio" she murmured into his hair, making him deflate slightly.
When he spoke, Roman stopped moving, knitting his eyebrows together out of annoyance when he heard her call him 'Antonio' - his name is Virgil. "Let him colour" Roman spoke up, catching their attention. "He has nothing better to do"
"But-"
"What? Do you think the pencils will hurt him?" He scoffed, "let him go" Roman demanded icily, staring at her coldly, voice brooking no argument. With a sigh, she slowly recoiled her arm, letting Virgil slide down onto the floor and towards the coffee table. Patton looked up with a gentle smile, swivelling the book around so he could colour in the picture on the other page, pushing the box of coloured pencils over to him.
"Thanks" He murmured awkwardly, picking up a colour before gliding the led across the page, making sure to stay between the lines. The room fell back to silence, and suddenly now Roman wasn't tense over the fact Virgil was sitting next to the woman who kidnapped him, he felt bored and leaned back into the plush seat.
He glanced over at Logan, but he knew he wouldn't get much entertainment out of that nerd. His dad was busy with his own thing, and Roman didn't want to interrupt him, seeing as he left his phone at home, he guessed there was only one thing left to do.
He opened his mouth, ready to sing lyrics to one of the many Disney songs he has stored away in his brain, but he stopped himself before doing so, not feeling like this situation would be improved with "be our guest" from beauty and the beast. So, instead, he sung a different song from a popular band(?) he has gotten into recently.
"... This is gospel for the fallen ones, locked away in permanent slumber, assembling their philosophies from pieces of broken memories"
He didn't sing that loudly, mostly to himself. It wasn't enough to catch the woman's attention, but enough to make Virgil's hand pause and ears perk up at the familiar tune.
"Oh, this is the beat of my heart, this is the beat of my heart, oh, this is the beat of my heart, this is the beat of my heart.."
"You listen to Panic?" Virgil couldn't help but question, lifting his head to stare at the boy dressed in white, red and gold. Said teenager smiled at his brother, sitting forward on the couch with enthusiasm, happy to have something in common with the boy he has missed for so long.
"Only recently - are you familiar?"
Virgil nodded a little to eagerly, dropping his pencil to focus completely on the boy he knew to be named Roman. The flamboyant boy rested his chin in his palm, smirking at the boy who had brightened up considerably.
"The gnashing teeth and criminal tongues conspire against the odds, but they haven't seen the best of us yet...sing with me?"
Virgil blushed, biting his lip while glancing at the people that suddenly lifted their gaze towards the boy. He shifted a little, turning his head to see what his mother would say but Roman landed on the ground loudly, gaining his attention as he leaned across the table.
"Please?" He added, tilting his head to the side.
He hesitated, but agreed.
"If you love me let me go! If you love me let me go, 'cause these words are knives that often leave scars-" Roman's voice boomed throughout the room, barely able to hear Virgil's underneath, but the darkly dressed boy didn't mind, he preferred it that way, anyway, besides he was still having a lot of fun, he's never sang with anyone else before.
His mother tried to step in, but they were onto the next lyric before she could.
"-The fear of falling apart and truth be told, I never was yours, the fear, the fear of falling apart" Patton sat up giddily, enchanted by the harmonising of both boy's voices. It reminded him of his wife, she always loved to sing...thinking about it brought a lone tear to his eye, one he quickly wiped away, but it wasn't one of sadness, he was happy.
He just wished she was alive to see her son again.
The woman went to grab Virgil's arm, but Roman jumped into action, swooping Virgil up from the ground so he was away from her. She stood up, but with Roman blocking her way, Virgil didn't really notice her, not that he wanted to, it seemed whenever he was enjoying himself she would take it away from him.
"This is gospel for the vagabonds, ne'er-do-wells, insufferable bastards, confessing their apostasies, led away by imperfect impostors" they carried on, Roman shooting a sly grin at the woman who crossed her arms and glared dangerously at the taller boy. Logan had actually looked up from the magazine to watch the scene, steadily aware of the rage that built up in her eyes.
"Don't try to sleep through the end of the world, bury me alive, 'cause I won't give up without a fight" Roman quietened his voice to let Virgil shine through, and holy shit he did, so mixed up with the song he didn't even realise everyone could hear him, and Roman felt like he could cry, because memories of him and Virgil singing along to the cartoonish songs they watched on television flashed through his mind like a sped up movie.
"If you love me let me go, if you love me let me go, 'cause these words are knives that often leave scars, the fear of falling apart, and truth be told, I never was yours, the fear, the fear of falling apart" they both belted out joyously, deciding to end the song there, grinning at each other a little breathlessly.
"The acoustics in this room make me-, well, us sound amazing!" Roman chirped, eyes bright with ecstasy. He adored singing, and when he could sing with others, his mood rises by tenfold! Virgil also looked alight with happiness, smirking at the boy who carried on with his compliments towards himself and Virgil, it made him blush, but it was barely visible under the light-shaded foundation he wore.
"That's enough!" The woman's voice bellowed, making Roman roll his and wave his hand around dismissively. "Oh, stop being so moody-"
"I said that's enough" she reinforced, making Roman sigh dramatically and twirl around to face the woman who had drawn a pocket knife from her bag, holding it directly at Roman. Logan stood up, dropping the magazine, ready to defend his brother while Patton gasped for a moment, eyes darkening straight after as he also stood up. He would not allow this woman to hurt another one of his children.
With her focus on Roman, she didn't see Patton march around the table and grasp her wrist, using her surprise as an advantage to claw away the weapon, throwing it onto the floor behind him, lips turned downwards with a glare he has never produced in his life, but if anyone knew Patton and saw his expression, they would be terrified.
"Don't. Even. Think about it" he muttered lowly and threateningly, letting go of her wrist to take a step over to Roman, gaze softening instantly as he smiled at his son who smiled back, wrapping him up in a short hug while whispering something into his ear.
"Thank you"
Behind them, Virgil had backed into the wall, shaking a little at the thought of his mother actually attacking the boy he barely knew. He had never seen his mother react that way, or hold a knife to someone, even if it was small it could do a lot of damage if she wanted to. He actually felt scared of her for a moment, but when he caught sight of Patton's reassuring stare, he eased a little, his shaking body composing.
In the thick tension, the door opened and a different officer stepped in, an older man following with a few other officers. The older man held a piece of paper, his expression not really revealing anything. They all sat down, this time Virgil sat on the arm chair opposite his mother and closer to the strangers that for some reason made him seem safe. It made Patton beam.
"I'm sorry to tell you this, Virgil" the older man spoke, making him draw his eyebrows together in confusion when they didn't call him by his real name...Antonio was his real name, right? Glancing down at his paper, the man carried on, "but this woman isn't your mother. Your mother took her life two years after you were kidnapped"
Patton titled his head down at the reminder, heart clenching when he saw her laying in their bed, motionless. A week later he found out she overdosed on some type of pill.
Virgil tensed in his seat, eyes snapping over to the woman he lived with for nine years...the woman he thought was his mother...the woman who lied to him. He was sitting with his real family, and he couldn't even remember them.
"No...no..no..shut up!" She yelled, moving away from her seat, but Roman took a protective stance before his brother, enabling her from getting to him. "That's my son! That is my son!" She yelled, throwing her arms around and slamming her foot on the ground. When the officer neared her, she picked up the pocket knife, holding it towards them menacingly.
"You ruined everything" she then turned to the three who had stood up and made a sort of human wall in front of Virgil who curled up on the seat and quivered, blocking his ears. "I won't let you steal my son!" She raged, throwing the knife towards Roman who tensed, blocking his face with his arms but Patton moved faster than light, standing in front of Roman just in time. The blade slid across his cheek, making droplets of blood pool and trail down his cheek.
Instantly, Roman and Logan went to attack, but both boys were held back by officers as others held down the woman who screamed and struggled.
Logan stopped struggling quite quickly, telling the officer he was alright before he was let go. Roman, on the other hand, writhed and yelled, almost breaking free, how dare she hurt his dad, the man that's protected him his entire life - he was the angry protective type.
"Calm down, son, calm down" the officer told him, bringing him to his knees, "she's not worth it" he added, waiting until Roman was completely still before letting go. The boy did want to get up and attack, but he was right, she wasn't worth it. Watching her be dragged away was a sight, a sight that made him smirk smugly, throwing his middle finger at her when she left.
Patton was given a few tissues which he used to clean away the blood, thanking the officers gratefully. It would have to be stitched, but he would much rather be with his son for as long as he could, so instead he used a tissue for now, sitting beside Virgil who stared at him with a teary gaze.
"Dad..." he whimpered, feeling crushed inside. He had mourned over a man who helped kidnap him, and he was completely unaware. Fuck, he was so stupid!
"Virgil" Patton whispered back, using his free arm to wrap around Virgil's waist, pulling him close as he sobbed, clinging onto his father like he would slip away and he would be trapped in that house once more. Behind him, Roman hugged him, burying his face into his back as he let out a few tears of his own, just...happy to have his brother back.
Logan sat on the coffee table opposite, rubbing Virgil's knee was as far as he would go with the human-touch-comforting thing. Nevertheless, Virgil titled his head and sent him a small, watery smile.
Part of him couldn't believe the events that happened throughout today, but all of him could agree he was over the moon to be with people that loved him. The people who were his family.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm I like the idea of Roman and Virgil singing Panic songs together

Bonus: after a few months of living together?

"Hey, Virgie! Wanna play Mario Kart with us?" Patton questioned his son after entering his room. He spotted the boy sitting on his bed, eyes glued to the phone he held tightly in his hands. Ever since he was given a phone by his dad he couldn't get enough of it, and as soon as he found the website 'tumblr' he felt his true emo self shine through. At least, that was how Roman put it.
"Yeah..uh...in a minute" he replied back quietly, having not really heard what his dad said. Nevertheless, Patton giggled and skipped across the room, taking a seat beside Virgil who finally lifted his head to acknowledge his presence.
"I've missed you" Patton murmured, lifting his hand to brush Virgil's hair from his face. Virgil frowned, leaning into his touch subconsciously. He really wished he had missed his dad, too, but when he lived with that woman he didn't even know who this man was, which made him feel worse.
"Well..." he shrugged awkwardly, "I'm here now so..." he drifted, trying to be comforting, but much like Logan he wasn't really good at it. Still, Patton chuckled, pressing a kiss to his forehead as tears welled up in his eyes.
"I love you, Kiddo" Patton murmured, wrapping him up in a hug, a hug he leaned into comfortably. It made him feel warm throughout his body to hear those words.
"I love you too, dad" Virgil replied, budging up the bed so he could lie down with his dad. Once Patton removed his glasses, he brought Virgil tightly to his chest, sniffling and quietly crying. He was sad but happy, sad that he lost his son for so long, happy he was back. And he would never let anyone, or anything hurt Virgil - or any of his sons - again. Even if he would have to go to prison for murder.
"Don't cry, or I'll cry, and this took me all morning" Virgil moved his head so it was facing his dad's, gesturing to the makeup that decorated his face perfectly. Patton giggled, sniffling as he pressed his sleeves to his eyes, weary of the scar that laid under the right one.
Patton cupped his face, gently stroking his cheek bones. "I know, I'm sorry, I just get a lil' emotional sometimes...seeing you again..." his voice cracked and he almost started crying again but he held it back, closing his eyes tightly for a few moments until he felt arms wrap around his body.
"Thank you" he murmured, Patton reopening his eyes to stare at his son. "For uh...for saving me from her...can we..um..cuddle? For awhile? If not, it's fine, I just-"
He was silenced when out of nowhere a blanket was thrown over their bodies, both Roman and Logan were smiling down at them. "I will not allow either of you to leave until you have a bonding moment! Cradle him in your arms, dad! Cradle him!"
Logan pinched the bridge of his nose, letting out a sigh of exasperation before dragging Roman out of the room by his arm, his yells about cuddles barely audible as the door shut behind the two. After a few beats of silence, Virgil and Patton burst into laughter, grinning at each other childishly.
"I would love to cuddle with you, Kiddo"
With that, the two shuffled closer and closed their eyes, arms wrapped around the other in comfortable silence, content in each other's calming presence.
