There's a problem - Roman x Virgil

"And remember, you're not allowed to fall in love with me" Virgil jokingly shot at Roman after he finished giving him the tour of the apartment. After he put up a sign saying he needed a roommate, Roman found it a few days later and instantly called, as recently he was searching for an apartment to live in and from the pictures, he fell in love with this place - besides, he was also partial to having a roommate.

Roman smirked, waving his hand dismissively. "Won't be a problem"

Two nights later, Roman was staring at his ceiling, the time nearing midnight. "There's a problem..." he drifted, dragging a hand down his face. The one rule he gave himself was to not fall in love with his roommate, and what did he do?

HE FELL IN LOVE...WITH HIS ROOMMATE...

He didn't even know how! He has lived here for two days, and already his heart swells when he's just thinking of the man! When in the same room, he becomes flustered and stammers, trying to keep calm but it never worked out. He was sure Virgil knew by now, and was probably weirded out over it. Roman didn't want to mention the fact he falls in love easily, everyone he's told in the past either called him stupid or said his feelings weren't "real" - he was only feeling like that because he was lonely.

It wasn't true...

Rolling onto his side, his eyes stared at the wall, wondering if Virgil would kick him out because of this...he didn't seem the type of person to do so, but Roman doesn't even know if he's attracted to men! Neither of the two know much about the other, for some reason they haven't had a long conversation to learn more, they just have normal conversations like they've been friends for years - even sitting comfortably in silence! It was peaceful, and not awkward at all, but Roman wanted to know more.

Shifting back to his original position, he brought his blanket closer to his chin, eyes closing gently as he tried to fall asleep in the silence.

It was working out until his eyes fluttered open after his ears heard a slight knocking on his door.

"Roman?"

It was Virgil, what could he want at midnight?

Slowly sitting up, Roman swung his legs over the side of his bed, padding across the carpeted floor to open the door for him, smiling when he saw the man standing opposite, fiddling with the sleeves that covered his hands. "I...was wondering if you wanted a drink..." he filled in, eyes focused on anything but Roman, anxious if the taller man would be annoyed from waking him up.

Leaning on the doorway, Roman's heart fluttered rapidly in his chest, like the wings of the butterflies that swarmed around in his stomach. Something about seeing Virgil in pyjamas, covering his hands with the long sleeves made Roman go crazy, even having the possibility to swoon over how utterly adorable he thought the man was.

Stepping out into the hallway, Virgil walked back a little, lifting his head to see what he was doing. "I would, thank you, but I'll come with you" Roman held his arms behind his back, watching Virgil's cheeks lighten with the colour pink, dusting around the few freckles that were sprinkled across the bridge of his nose.

"Uh...cool...okay" Virgil's head dropped back down and the two walked down the dark hallway together, Roman flicking on the light when he found it, illuminating the staircase down to the ground floor. "Why are you awake?" Roman started up conversation, grabbing two cups while Virgil turned on the cold water from the kitchen sink.

The darkly dressed man shrugged, taking one glass from Roman to fill it up. "Can't sleep" he responded shortly, turning off the water after Roman filled his own glass up, the two gulping down water.

"Does this happen often?" Roman carried on, leaning on the counter while crossing one arm across his chest. Virgil hopped onto the counter opposite, eyes staring at the marble floor. His legs swung back and forth slowly, not responding for awhile. "I guess" was his answer, tilting his head to the side to focus on the kettle and toaster.

"It's not that late" he defended quietly, "I just..." he sighed, finger circling around the rim of the cup. "Sleep late, is all" he finally found the courage to tell his roommate, clearing his throat afterwards. He knew why he found it hard to tell Roman about himself, which was why he strayed from the topics relating to himself.

From the moment he saw the man, Virgil fell in love. Not only was he the most handsome man he had ever laid eyes on, but the way he spoke, his voice was smooth, but full of courage - and his whole demeanour. It was like he was royalty ready to save a damsel in distress - and Virgil shamefully wanted to be that damsel.

He knew from the moment he first watched a movie where the Prince saved the princess - he wanted to be the princess. But not so far as to say he wanted to be female, he would just rather be in a man's arms, than his arms being wrapped around a girl. His parents didn't agree, yet he didn't care, because the first time a man held him he knew this was what he wanted and he couldn't change that.

Unfortunately he and that man split up a little over a year ago, it was mutual, they were both better as friends. Luckily, they both still saw each other frequently, and recently introduced Virgil to his new boyfriend who was named Patton. He was an adorable man who acted like a child and a Father at the same time.

Virgil smiled a little from thinking about the two. They were perfect for each other.

He...wanted that with Roman, as absurd as it was, he had only known the guy for two days! To him, it didn't matter, because he knew he liked Roman, but he was scared if Roman got to know more about him, he would leave - or not want to even be friends with him.

Who wants to be friends with someone like him, anyway? Let alone boyfriends. He had heightened anxiety, he was scared of the dark, quite submissive in relationships, and would rather stay quiet most of the time. He was...weird. That's what he thought, anyway.

"Virgil" Roman repeated once again, moving closer to him each time. The man was in a world of his own, deeply concentrated with his thoughts. Roman found it endearing, the expression he wore was just..adorable.

Standinf before his knees, finally Virgil's eyes focused on his stomach, and it took a few seconds for Virgil to realise what it was before they widened and his head snapped upwards, gasping at the sudden proximity. Roman smirked, "Sorry, you were very deep in thought" he chuckled, scratching the back of his neck.

Blushing, Virgil looked away. "I-I...uh...sorry" he stuttered, yelping in surprise when Roman's arms scooped him from the counter, one arm slithered under the back if his knees, the other wrapped around his back.

"Roman!" Virgil yelled, but subconsciously his arms wound around his neck tightly, body resting against his chest. He wanted this, Roman thought with a smile, leaving the kitchen, ignoring his demands to place him down. With each one, they were getting less and less serious, until he went completely silent, head resting on his shoulder.

Roman laid him down gently in bed, bringing the blankets up to cover his body.

"Sleep, Virgil" Roman spoke softly, Virgil nodding afterwards. "I will"

Standing up, Roman noticed the night light plugged into the wall, and smiled wider at the sight. If there was ever to be a power outage, he hoped Virgil would go to him - presuming he was scared of the dark.

Turning back to him, Roman bowed a little, walking to his bedroom door. "Goodnight, Virgil"

"Night" Virgil yawned, snuggling into the warm blankets. Cooing, Roman closed the door silently, leaning against it wistfully.

He was in love, and so was Virgil.
