Sick - Roman x Logan

7:31pm

I love Roman?????? So much???? 💞💓💗💖💕💝💘

"Princey! You let it happen again!"

"I know, I know" Roman replied in a low voice, holding his head in his hands as he tried to calm down the raging headache pounding in his mind, but as Virgil yelled more and more, it only got worse.

"If you know, Kiddo, why don't you try and stop it?" Patton spoke in a soft voice, kneeling before the aspect who was sitting on the minds couch, trying to encourage Roman to do better, like he's been trying to do the past few months. It's not Roman's fault, but a lot has happened recently, the biggest thing being Thomas's nightmares.

Whenever Thomas has a nightmare, it only correlates to two sides - Roman or Virgil.

The nightmares he gets from Virgil aren't as bad as Roman's, as Roman is the imagination, it creates monsters in his mind much more terrifying than Virgil could ever do - which was why Thomas's continuous nightmares he's recently been having all point to Roman. He doesn't mean to do it, he doesn't want Thomas to go through it every night, but the sides don't understand how hard it is for him.

Logan, finally having enough of Virgil's yelling and Patton's encouraging, steps in, adjusting his glasses as he spoke. "The only way for Thomas to get nightmares from Roman is if he is sick" Logan explained, watching a worried expression wash over Patton's face. "Kiddo? You're sick?" Roman lifted his head, staring at Logan for a few seconds, relishing in the silence.

"No, I'm not" he replied in a dull tone, standing up and rubbing his temple, closing his eyes and sighing out as he tried to think of an excuse in the fallen silence. "I have...a lot on my mind" he waved off, staring at the ground with clenched teeth, wondering if the sides would notice if he got a few painkillers.

"Well, sort it out and stop being a problem for Thomas" Virgil demanded, skidding around to march off to his room, Logan watching him go with furrowed eyebrows. This different behaviour if affecting them all, but that doesn't give Virgil the excuse to be such a dick. Glancing back at the last two sides, Patton gave Roman a short hug before hurrying after his 'son'.

Not exchanging any more words, Roman walked right past Logan to the kitchen, the logical aspect thankfully not following the side to see him steal the bottle of painkillers. Not planning to have them all at once, but Roman didn't want to be going back and forth whenever he caught a headache, so he made a new bottle appear and sunk down to his room, taking a few and flopping onto his bed.

He wasn't entirely lying before, he did have a lot on his mind, working in overdrive for Thomas had gotten him sick, but he didn't want to acknowledge that, only further putting him in a worse position - when the nightmares began, the sides started to join in and become an even bigger problem to Roman.

All he wanted to do at that moment was sleep, and after the pain dulled to a numb throbbing, his eyes began to feel heavy with all the sleep he's missed.

After the short nap, Roman slowly got up and went back to work, coughing roughly into his arm too often for him to be okay, downing painkiller after painkiller as more headaches attacked his brain, and that night Thomas has the worst nightmare ever up to date. It got backlash from Virgil, who screamed at him, blaming him for the panic attack he caused the two of them around three am, ranting about how he says 'he'll try and improve', but he's only getting worse.

With Patton slowly agreeing more with Virgil, Logan was the last side to actually notice his outer appearance slowly changing each day, his hair matted, bags under his eyes, almost as dark as Virgil's makeup, the obvious lack of self hygiene...it made him worry, Roman cared for himself a lot, and would never let himself get into the state he is in.

Another month passed, Roman could barely keep himself up at that point, working hard in his room, locked away from the others. It was after a particularly bad panic attack Virgil had - the side requested for a painkiller due to the headache from crying. Logan grabbed the bottle but paused, wondering why it was so full. He hasn't checked the bottle in awhile, but he knew it to be half full last time he checked.

Eyes averting away, he chewed his lip, recoiling Roman's behaviour whenever he was around. Strained expression, calming down in silence, his excessive amount of temple rubbing...

Coming to the quick conclusion that Roman must be having headaches, he quickly passed the pill to Virgil and ventured to Roman's bedroom, deciding against knocking to try and catch a glimpse of the royal - just to see how he acts when he's alone.

The Prince-like aspect was leaning over his desk, gripping it tightly as he hoarsely coughed to the side, whimpering a little afterwards to show he was in pain. Noticing the bottle of pills on his bedside table, Logan watched the way he acted, how he tripped over himself, legs shook as if he had no energy, and the painful sounding coughs leaving his lips after a few seconds of silence.

Leaving the room to stand in the hallway, Logan pieced together the puzzle in his mind, Roman was over-working himself and became sick. That would explain the nightmares, and the way he was acting.

Heading back into his room, he went to talk when his mouth fell open. Roman was transparent.

It was rare, but when a side would overwork themselves, could overdose, which slowly makes them fade.

"Roman, look at me" Logan told him, grabbing his arm to catch his attention. His eyes averted to Logan but he couldn't keep himself up, body nearly collapsing against the floor Logan held him up as much as he could, dragging the aspect to his bed where he coughed roughly into the pillow, groaning and covering his body with his duvet.

"Roman, listen to me, you are overworking yourself. It isn't helping Thomas or the situation you are in, you need to rest before you...you..." Logan couldn't seem to make himself say it, but once glancing down at the side, he was passed out, slowly becoming whole again. Sighing out, Logan sat on his bed, clenching his jaw. How had he not noticed sooner?

He and the others were so clueless! Maybe this would make Virgil stop yelling at Roman all the time...

Leaving his room, he found the two sides sitting in the living room, Virgil quietly complaining about how Roman is making Thomas's life much harder than it needs to be. Crossing his arms, Logan felt a sudden anger develop inside of him. He was never particularly protective over anyone, but recently he found himself becoming annoyed and angry when the two sides would insinuate all of this was Roman's fault, and yell and accuse him of not trying hard enough.

"Roman is over working himself" Logan spoke, catching their attention. "No shit, yet it's not helping" Virgil scoffed, crossing his arms and glaring at the wall.

Clenching his fists, Logan counted to ten before carrying on. "He was fading minutes prior to this conversation, luckily I was there in time. If he had faded I hope you understand I would've never forgiven you for the way you acted towards him. All this yelling is unnecessary! You and Patton are putting him in a worse state, what he needs is to stop working, give Thomas a break, and take a break himself. If you are not up to helping him because of your past, so be it, but if that is the case, stay away from him until he is better" Logan growled out the end, from their expressions he knew they took in what he said.

Storming straight out of the room, he calmed himself down on the way to Roman's room, checking on the side before sinking up into the real world, catching Thomas sitting on the couch, looking sluggish and tired. Sitting beside him, he noticed how his computer wasn't even on, he was staring at the black screen mindlessly.

"Thomas, I would advise you to sleep" he began, Thomas's eyes flicking over to him. "We have found the problem to your nightmares, and I assure you it won't happen again. After you do sleep, call over a few of your friends - I am sure they will help you to feel better"

Thomas let a small smile land on his lips as he slowly made his body to sit up, closing the laptop and setting it to the side. "Thanks, Lo"

"It's no problem" sinking out, Logan grabbed a bucket, placing it beside Roman's bed, his sickness possibly including emesis. He also grabbed some water, throat soothers, and a few other items Roman would need in his steps to become better.

After Logan shone light to Patton and Virgil about the situation, the two made sure to help as much as they could, Virgil even apologising to Roman for the way he acted before.

Coughing softly into his hand, Roman smiled at his favourite emo nightmare, leaning against a few pillows so he could sit up in bed. "Don't worry about it, Hot topic" his voice was rough and weak, but Virgil smiled nonetheless, even hugging him shortly.

"Don't tell anyone about this" he muttered into his ear, Roman laughing heartily as he did. "Of course not, emo nightmare"

Leaning back, Virgil did his two finger salute and left the room. Only minutes later and Logan arrived with a new glass of water, much like Roman had requested.

"Thank you" he smiled gracefully, sipping it slowly like Logan suggested.

Placing the glass down, Logan noticed some had escaped down the corner of his lip. "Here" he murmured, grabbing a tissue and leaning closer to wipe it away, only noticing Roman's smirk afterwards at his close they were. Blushing, he turned away, clearing his throat hastily. "Don't look at me like that" he muttered, throwing the tissue into the bin.

Roman only hummed in amusement, "don't lie, nerd, you totally want to kiss me"

Turning to him with his arms crossed, Logan glared with no real hate. "I do not!"

"Prove it" he replied smugly.

"And how do I do that?"

"Sit here" he shuffled over, patting the spot next to him on the bed. "Stare at my lips, and try not to kiss me" Roman smirked. "Fine" Logan replied, sitting where he said, keeping a short distance between them after Roman pulled him closer, staring at his eyes only for a second before focusing on his lips, feeling something stir in his stomach the longer he sat there, his cheeks flaming a dark red colour.

Roman lifted his hand to cup Logan's cheek, leaning in the rest of the way to share a heated kiss with the logical side, him melting into it like ice on a hot day, although he kept his arms by his sides awkwardly, he shuffled closer, eyes sealed tightly as he tried to get as much out of the kiss as possible, his heart race increasing at incredible rates.

Slowly pulling away to breathe, Roman smirked at his swollen lips, watching as he quickly regained control of himself and jumped up, drying his lips hastily. "Looks like I proved you wrong" Roman spoke smugly, Logan keeping his back towards the romantically teasing side.

"You kissed me, it did not prove anything, that kiss meant nothing" Logan waved off. To get a real answer from him, Roman faked a hurt expression, slowly averting his eyes down as he spoke in the most soft, sad voice he could. Luckily, being a skilled actor, it wasn't that hard to sound genuinely hurt when he knew what Logan said wasn't true - the poor logical side was trying to make sense of this as best as he could.

"Really?" He murmured, staring at him through the hair that fell down after he tilted his head downwards. Logan, upon noticing his sudden change in tone, turned to him, heart figuratively shattering at the sight.

"No, Roman, I just..." he stepped forward, but chewed his lip, trying to form a correct sentence, not noticing Roman slowly get up and stumble over to him, still a little weak.

"I'm kidding, nerd"

His sudden proximity made Logan flinch, but Roman wrapped his arms around his waist, bringing him into a long lasting kiss once more.

"I do not understand this feeling..." Logan whispered once pulling away, staring into Roman's eyes that shone with happiness.

"I do, will you be my boyfriend?"

Logan couldn't help but smile, how could one question bring him so much joy?

"I could not possibly say no"

Thanks for the request!

Hope it was to your standard!
