"But he seems so lonely!" Roman whined to his brother who sat opposite him on the desk. Virgil rolled his eyes, wondering how the hell this boy could still be going on about the argument that started at the start of the lesson. Well, it wasn't really an argument, more like a debate. Roman wanted to help find someone for Patton while Virgil didn't want to get that involved in his dads life, because he thinks when the right person comes, they'll come.
"Someone must agree with me, here!" He exclaimed, throwing his arms up. Remy - who was situated next to Virgil - stopped sipping from their personally designed Starbucks cup and sighed. "So, you said there isn't anyway to send him back?" They asked Virgil with a frown, making the emo-boy snort and Roman grumble in offence, turning to Deceit who was sitting next to him.
The boy sensed Roman's fierce eyes and glanced up with his multicoloured eyes, scanning the taller boy's expression. "Get him a Tinder profile" he suggested with a shrug, leaning back when Roman shook his head instantly, making weird noises with his mouth in protest, a few students nearby looked over but they returned back to their conversations once they realised it was just Roman being Roman.
It only took a week of Roman being in this school to know he was dramatically gay.
"I am not letting random strangers ask for my fathers nudes!" He shrieked, and Deceit pinched the bridge of his nose, for Roman really couldn't have said that any louder. Of course, the inappropriate statement brought the teacher over who looked at Roman with a risen eyebrow and crossed arms. The regal-looking boy flinched when he suddenly noticed the stoic man, then smirked, because he was the hottest teacher in that damn school.
"Hello, sir" he purred, completely forgetting about Patton's love life. Everyone on the table glanced up at the teacher who was famously known for not dealing with students bullshit lightly, if Roman was lucky he wouldn't have a detention during lunch. "Roman, what have I told you about yelling in my classroom? Especially about such inappropriate topics?"
"I don't know, maybe you should tell me again, preferably after lesson?" He requested while resting his chin in the palm of his hand, staring up at him through his eyebrows. Logan changed his expression to show he didn't approve of Roman's poor behaviour, even if he was gay, he would never be attracted to someone so flirtatious and dramatic - plus, he was too young.
"I think we should have a talk with your parents" Logan fired back, watching as Roman faltered at the word, gulping thickly while slowly lowering his eyes to his desk. Virgil noticed, clenching his hand anxiously, knowing how Roman gets when he is reminded of his parents - he would either shut himself off, or become so angry he wouldn't have any problems with punching the teacher in the face.
Logan noticed his demeanour change, he was happy Roman stopped acting like a horny teenager, but he suddenly felt worried, no one should react like that when their parents are mentioned. Although, before he could ask to see Roman outside, the boy suddenly perked up his head and stared at Virgil, eyes bright and excited.
"Virgil, Virgil, Virgil!" He chanted, gesturing to Logan who stood back up straight, confused. "Él sería perfecto para papá!" He exclaimed in sudden excitement, jumping up from his seat to turn back to Logan. Virgil stared in bewilderment, questioning if Roman remembered that he couldn't understand Spanish.
"I think" he began, reaching forward to gently hold the teachers tie. "We should have a long talk with my dad, about my behaviour, I just can't seem to get enough of you" he spoke huskily, forcing it on to make Logan more incline to calling his dad in, and it worked! Along with a detention threat, but they both knew Roman would never turn up for a detention.
Falling back in his chair, Roman sent Virgil a wink and said nothing else on the matter.
On Friday that week, Roman waited after school for Patton to arrive alongside Virgil who complained about having to stay behind when he could be at home, spending his time listening to music and doing his emo activities. Somehow, he let Roman persuade him to stay, for he was intrigued when Roman said he had a 'plan'. His plans never really worked out, seeing them crash and burn was always amusing, so that's another adding factor to why Virgil stuck around.
"Hey, kiddos!" The brothers looked up and smiled at their father who came from the front doors and over to them. "You okay? How was school?"
"Absolutely wonderful!" Roman replied, grabbing a hold of Patton's hand. The man chuckled and held his back, following the two sons as they guided him down to Logan's office. Being a more important teacher he was allowed his own room outside of his classroom, which allowed him to get on with work without any disruptions.
"Padre" Roman grinned, "I think I have found the perfect person for you!"
Everything clicked in Virgil's mind, and he almost froze in his tracks, wanting to run and hide. Roman couldn't be serious - he did not want to hook their father up with Logan. One of the strictest, smartest teachers in the entire school! This couldn't end well, someone like that would never go for someone as cuddly, kind and Dad-like like Patton was!
"Oh, Roman, I told you I don't need anyone right now! All I need is you two" he beamed, wrapping an arm around Virgil as he spoke. But, the two sons new that was a lie, they could tell Patton was lonely in the romantic department, he's been single for quite some time now, and is probably quite cuddle-deprived, and touch starved, and he hasn't had sex in ages!
"Give them a chance, please?" Roman begged, fluttering his eyes. Patton giggled and sighed, finally giving in, for the idea of having a chance with someone did elate his mood, because admittedly he has been quite lonely in a romantic sense.
Roman leaned on Logan's office door, sending his dad a wink before stepping in without knocking. Logan looked up, rolling his eyes when he realised it was Roman. He stood up and rounded his desk, ready to greet his parent when his whole body stopped and he floundered for a moment, words stuck in his throat. What was wrong with him? He felt as if he had shut down! He knew it was because of the absolutely adorable looking man who stood before him with a cardigan around his shoulders, and a shy smile resting on his lips.
Talk! Say something, you incompetent fool!
"Uh, my apologies" Logan adjusted his tie, holding his hand out towards Patton. "Salutations, I am Logan, you must be Roman's father" the man nodded giddily, shaking his hand. "Yep! I'm Patton!" He replied, giggling at the light blush that coated Logan's cheeks.
"Right, well, if you would like to sit down, we can discuss Roman's behaviour in class" Logan somehow found himself and sat at his desk, all the while Roman was constantly nudging Virgil, giving the darkly dressed boy that look, the one that screamed 'I told you so'. Virgil only rolled his eyes and sat on the third seat in the row, Roman taking the one in the middle, grinning at Logan who pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"Roman is a very bright student-"
"I do try" Roman cut in, crossing one leg over the other. Patton sent him a look that shut him up instantly, Logan being quite surprised by that - seems like Patton had quite the control over the boy. "But" Logan carried on, "he can be disruptive in class - which effects others learning" Roman glanced down at his finger nails, suddenly feeling his heart weigh down heavily. He hated, despised even, making Patton disappointed in him, but when he sees someone hot he can't help it! He wants to be the best son for Patton in case he were to be sent back, and now he regrets forcing Logan to made this meeting.
Virgil noticed his change, subtly reaching over to squeeze his hand gently. Roman looked over, feeling a little relieved to see his reassuring smile - one that told him it will be okay.
Patton nodded his head, showing he understood what Logan meant. Looking over at his son, he watched the small exchange between the brothers and smiled too. "He also is quite inappropriate towards me; flirtatious behaviour I will not tolerate"
"Sir..." Roman tried to keep his frown, but his lips curled into a grin. "You do have a bodacious backside..." he murmured, unable to help himself. Beside him, Virgil slapped a hand over his mouth to try and stifle the snort while Patton narrowed his eyes sternly, desperately trying to keep his 'strict facade' up because if he started laughing Logan might think he wasn't taking this seriously - and he was!
"This is exactly what I mean" Logan sighed out, "if this carries on I fear I must move him down to the set below, which will not utilise his improving skills - I can look past this if it stops" Logan gazed at the boy intently, "today" he reinforced, watching Roman lean forward and prop his head up by his hand on his desk.
"Don't worry" he whispered, "I don't take my dad's men" he spoke quietly, leaving Patton unable to hear him. Logan found himself once again speechless, unable to move as Roman winked and got up, dragging Virgil along with him. "I do apologise, sir, I will do better in class, especially with the new boy" he shoved Virgil outside the door who stumbled and nearly fell to the ground.
"Have fun~!" He called, closing the door quickly, leaving the office to fall to silence. Patton opened and closed his mouth, looking at Logan who too seemed a bit out of his depth here. Eventually, Patton began to giggle, which made Logan's heart flutter in ways he wasn't used to at all.
Logan cleaned his throat, straightening out some papers that didn't need straightening. "Well-erm-thank you for agreeing to come. I hope Roman changes his behaviour, I really believe he will do [mostly] great things in the upcoming future" Logan sent Patton a small and polite smile, who grinned back in response, nodding his head vigorously.
"So do I! He's come so far, I'm so proud of him!" Then, he quickly dropped his excitement to be more serious. "But, yes, I will talk to him about that" he reassured, slowly standing up from his chair. Logan followed suit, leading him to the door.
"I hope to see you again-" Logan's eyes widened, "I mean-not here-well, I mean-" he tried to backtrack but he was making a bigger fool of himself with every splutter. Patton giggled, cutting him off by leaning over and pecking his cheek softly, watching them both heat up in flames. "I hope to see you again, too" he whispered gently, sending him one more smile that could send him swooning before leaving the room to drive his kids home.
Logan closed his office door and leaned on it heavily, dragging his finger across his warm cheek. Of course Roman's behaviour would be the thing to improve his life.
After their first greeting, Roman made sure it wouldn't be the last. It seems he had turned into Cupid, and over the months he planned out romantic dates for the pair who didn't seem to mind at all, as they were both too busy to do it themselves. Roman exchanged their numbers, reserved seats at restaurants, bought movie tickets, made picnics, all the while improving the way he acted in class, and in school in general.
It was weird for Virgil in the beginning. Seeing his teacher at their home was something he would have to get used to, but whenever they were left alone, Virgil found he wasn't actually that bad. Who knew Logan was as socially awkward as he was! They got along through that, able to sit beside each other in comfortable silence - more times than not, Logan found himself reading out loud with Virgil leaning on his shoulder, comfortably listening to his monotone but soothing voice.
When Logan wasn't with Virgil, he was with Roman, sitting in the boys room while helping him plan romantic outings for himself and Patton. They did butt-heads quite a bit, and sometimes raised their voices unnecessarily loud, but in the end it worked out. Plus, alongside the dates, Logan would sit Roman down at his desk and help him complete the homework he was uselessly stuck on - he never thought he would understand such complicated work, but Logan changed that with just a few weeks!
For the two boys, it was marvellous having two dads.
"Thanks, Dad" Roman grinned, quickly writing down the answer to his work. He didn't mean to blurt out the title, but when he did Logan froze, staring at Roman in bewilderment. The boy thought of him as a father figure? That made his heart freak out wildly, but in the best way possible, for he couldn't diminish the smile that rested on his lips for the rest of the day.
Months later, the complete family were in the kitchen, making lunch while waiting for the new child they were going to foster to arrive. Patton still wanted to keep his job, even if their house suddenly went from one to four residents. They still had a spare guest room- well, Logan helped renovate a new guest room- so Patton hoped the new child would be comfortable.
The doorbell rang, and Roman was at the door, opening it wide to greet the new child. They were young, around thirteen, with long blond hair and shy blue eyes. Roman grinned, leading her inside while Patton and Virgil spoke to the curly haired carer.
"You have two dads?" The girl whispered to Roman after spotting Logan in the hallway. Roman grinned, looking up at the man who had moved into their house a few weeks ago. "Yes, and I'm sure you will adore them" Roman petted her hair, eliciting a giggle from the girl who sent Logan a small smile. The man responded with his a wave, wondering how Patton had made him more caring than he ever had been in his life.
Whatever he did, Logan was glad he did it. Patton showed him what love was, and he never wanted to let it go.
