Detention - Roman x Patton & Logan x Virgil

So earlier today I bought two new books - as in real books, books you can hold in your hand - not books from Wattpad! Can't wait to read those!

AU

Patton gently closed his locker door, bottom lip caught between his teeth. Patton was one of the best students this school had ever had - behaviour wise - which was why it was badly bothering him that he somehow managed to get a detention. Never ever before had he gotten one, in any school he's learned in, he could barely remember what he did to get said detention! And it was with the strictest teacher! And, a little embarrassing secret, the teacher kind of scared Patton...

Gulping, he manoeuvred past the student filled hallway, taking the few flights of stairs and long hallways before he reached the classroom he had to spend his lunch in. Breathing in, he placed his hand on the doorknob, but he must've taken too long because someone's hand covered his, pushing open the door forcefully.

"Scared?" The boy smirked, scanning Patton up and down. Patton opened his eyes quickly, taking a step away from the student. Patton knew him - well, everyone did - he was popular, charismatic, best actor anyone's ever had the pleasure to see....! His name was Roman, but with popularity came arrogance - and rudeness. It made Patton stray away from the boy, but that didn't mean Paton didn't think he was breathtaking.

"Don't worry" he carried on, leaning on the doorway with a grin. "He won't hurt you - at least, when you're not alone" he added, chuckling under his breath as he watched Patton's eyes widen with fear. Murmuring the word naive under his breath, Roman strode into the classroom, glancing at the teacher who was sitting at his desk, marking papers or some crap.

"Greetings, Mr. Salad" Roman bowed, pulling a chair from under the desk to drape his body over it, legs kicked up onto the table. He definitely had the I-don't-give-a-shit characteristic about him.

The teacher sighed - why must he deal with Roman?

Patton watched the scene from the doorway, playing with his cardigan sleeves nervously. How does that boy have so much confidence? Especially around this certain teacher! While his eyes trained on Roman, subconsciously trailing them across his body, a voice clearing made him jump and spin around.

His eyebrows darted upwards when he spotted Logan standing there. They weren't friends - but like Roman, Logan was quite popular. Everyone knew him to be the nerd, but not like the other nerds. He was smarter, and attractive - which instantly gave him a higher stance in the social ladder compared to every other smart student in the school. He had some sort of arrogant aura around him, but wasn't as show off-y as Roman, and definitely not as flamboyant.

They were both rude, though.

"Are you going in? Or here to marvel at what is the half-witted prep?" Logan questioned, finding it a loss cause when all Patton replied with was broken noises and mixed up words. Walking by, he adjusted his glasses, ignoring the amused smirk that flashed over Roman's face. He didn't greet the teacher, either, at this point extremely annoyed with him. Not only was it not his fault he got the detention, but Mr. Salad knew it wasn't his fault! Yet, here he was, instead of in the library, in here, with the dramatic actor and a random boy standing in the doorway.

Sitting close to the back, he pulled out his math book, ready to study when Mr. Salad stopped him, taking it away. "Sir-"

"In detention - you're not allowed to do things you enjoy, Mr. Sanders" he quipped, picking up Logan's bag too before placing it behind his desk, raising his eyebrow at Logan who clenched his jaw, sitting back in the plastic chair. The audacity....

"Ah, Virgil, Patton" he spoke once finally looking towards the doorway. Virgil? Turning around, Patton jumped again, feeling like he might have a heart attack! Does everyone sneak up on people like this!?

Behind him was Virgil, a quiet student no one bothered to talk to. To his knowledge, he had no friends from this school, and was quite out-casted compared to everyone else. Wearing dark clothes and makeup, he was intriguing, mysterious, but Patton never had the guts to talk to him. Besides, they shared no classes and had no idea where he hung out during breaks.

Virgil only scoffed upon seeing Roman and Logan, taking the furthest seat away from both of them.

"Greetings, emo nightmare, lovely to see you joining us" Roman shot him a grin, it widening when he replied with a low growl, glaring at the boy dressed in white. "Patton, are you going to just stand there all day?" The teacher barked, Patton jumping once again, but this time he nearly fell over! Roman noticed, eyes narrowing on the teacher.

"I wonder" Roman began, sitting up. "How other teachers would react when they hear...a rumour of why our dear student Patton is so scared of Mr. Salad" Roman lowly threatened, Logan raising an eyebrow at his words. In the past, Roman had gotten a teacher fired for looking at Patton the wrong way, with his rich lawyers as parents, the head teacher was too scared to argue - with enough..."evidence"...Mr. Salad could go to jail.

Roman's...infatuation with Patton always made Logan - and students alike - curious as to what they were really...why was Roman so protective of a boy he barely talks to in school? Logan isn't one for emotions, but something was going on, and he couldn't tell if he wanted to know yet or not.

Mr. Salad slowly walked up to Roman's desk, eyeing the boy who rose to his feet, head level with the old teacher. "Is that a threat, boy?"

"I don't know" Roman smirked, leaning closer. "Is it?"

A silence followed, until Mr. Salad ordered him to sit down quietly, he himself returning to his desk and silently gesturing for Patton to enter. Closing the door behind him, the timid student sat in the seat closest to it, not daring to look up from the old wood with plenty of graffiti marks etched into it from bored students in the past.

"This detention will last an hour - each of you will be silent - if a word is spoken ten minutes will be added on"

Logan rose his arm, Mr. Salad nodding his head for him to speak. "If I am correct - which I always am" he checked the watch on his wrist, Virgil scoffing at his words. "In an hour, it will be twelve minutes into our last lesson" Logan ignored Virgil's childish behaviour, leaning forward on his desk. "And I don't suppose that is allowed, is it not?"

Mr. Salad smirked, already thought it through. "You shall be sent up the work from your lesson, if you incompetent students manage to make this over an hour, I am allowed to keep you after school until you learn how to behave" he snapped, beady eyes darting to each of the students. He hated how Roman always wore that agitating smirk - like he had a plan up his sleeve to take over the world with a click of his fingers.

"An hour with my favourite teacher? Joy" he sarcastically commented, huffing. This was stupid.

"An hour and ten minutes"

"Wha-? It hasn't started yet!"

"Twenty minutes!"

"What!?"

Logan groaned, "shut up, clueless moron"

After the teacher stayed silent, Roman only became more annoyed. "How is this fair!? He just spoke-"

"Thirty minutes!"

"Oh my god" Virgil groaned from his chair, slumping into it angrily. He couldn't understand why Roman wouldn't leave it, he wasn't going to win! At this point Mr. Salad-ass could do whatever he wanted, and add minutes on after certain students speak - and of course, he will use this to get to Roman any chance he could. Why couldn't that arrogant idiot see that!?

"Don't make me add another ten minutes, Roman" the teacher smirked, leaning on his desk. Instead of replying verbally, Roman stretched out his hands and swore at him in sign language, smirking back as Mr. Salad narrowed his eyes in annoyance. "Forty minutes" Patton's mouth dropped a little, it wasn't fair he was targeting Roman entirely, and now adding minutes after he stayed silent!? Sure, he communicated, but not verbally.

"Sir, that is contradicting your rules - Roman replied silently, that should not add time to our already prolonged detention" Logan made sure to emphasise the word prolonged to show his annoyance towards Roman's behaviour. "Logan - you are too smart for your own good. One hour and fifty minutes - let's see who will make it two" after everyone stayed silent, he rounded his desk and took a seat, glancing at each student before going back to his work.

So, they were just supposed to sit in silence?

For nearly two hours?

Patton sighed, letting his bag rest on the floor. He took out a pen and began to draw small doodles onto his hand - seeing as when Logan brought out a book, it was taken off of him. Virgil decided to plug in one earphone and quietly listen to music while his head rested in his arms - might as well catch some sleep when he had time.

Logan glared at his book for awhile, imagining all he could be studying right now...so, he decided to go over math equations in his mind, hopefully to pass the time that was going to stretch. It would be fine for all of them - if it weren't for the fact Roman couldn't sit still. It wasn't because he was trying to be annoying, he physically couldn't do nothing. It was nearly impossible, and put him through agony.

First, his leg bounced up and down, then his fingers tapped against the wood, creating quiet noises that resonated around him, every so often chewing his lip, only to let it go, but start chewing it again. An endless cycle until his eyes whipped up towards Mr. Salad who slammed his ruler against the desk - it made everyone flinch, actually.

"Roman, stay silent" he demanded. The student went to reply, but kept his mouth shut, slumping further and further in his chair, sitting up, slumping, bouncing his leg, tapping, chewing lip, eyes darting, flinching once again after the teacher hit the desk harder this time. He was surprised the ruler didn't break.

"Roman-"

"Sir, if I may" Logan interjected, catching his attention. "Roman has this...condition, of sorts, in fact every teacher knows it" he stared at him pointedly, "Roman cannot possibly sit still - it is silent torture for him - and if you do not let him distract himself, he will carry on becoming more agitated, which will in turn annoy you further" Logan explained to him as simply as he could, pushing his glasses up his nose bridge.

"Well" Salad leaned forward, "he'll just have to get over it, won't he?" Roman glared at him, but kept quiet, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of being able to add more time to the one hour and fifty minutes. "He can fire you" Virgil spoke up, his body stretched out across the seat, arm resting upwards on the desk to hold his head up. "It would be like keeping a pump away from an asthmatic student....against the rules, dude" he shrugged nonchalantly, Roman glancing over at him to send him a genuine smile, earning one from Virgil in return.

Mr. Salad's mouth fell into a line, the room falling to silence.

"Here!" Patton chirped up, grabbing some paper from his book before sitting opposite Roman, back towards the dick of a teacher. "We can draw together" he spoke, but it was mostly directed at Roman who's grin fell into one of his smiles, like the one he sent to Virgil, one he didn't wear often.

Only around the people he truly liked - as friends...or more.

"Thank you, dear Patton" Roman took the pencil Patton handed to him, Mr. Salad begrudgingly agreeing to it, going back to his work while Patton and Roman doodled across the paper, sometimes writing little notes to each other, when they did they'd look up and smile, each time their blush darkening as they finally noticed how cute the other was up close.

Meanwhile, Logan sighed out loudly, having his own issues. He wasn't as bad as Roman - not even close - but it would be tough for anyone to sit for nearly two hours in silence doing nothing, especially for someone who always likes to be doing work, and not wasting time.

Suddenly, something landed on his desk with a tap. His hand silently hid over it, Mr. Salad narrowing his eyes but forgetting it.

Picking up the object, Logan knew it to be one of those "wireless" earphones. Glancing over at Virgil, the darkly dressed boy gestured for him to put it into his ear, which he did with curiosity. The music wasn't his taste, but he didn't hate it. Mouthing a silent thank you, he mimicked Virgil's position, letting his head rest in his arms as the music took over him, eyes closing as his mind subconsciously picked out the lyrics, finding them to hold meaning.

One he didn't really care about, but could appreciate it in Virgil's sense.

As time went on, a teacher called Mr. Salad out the room for a few minutes, letting Virgil stand up with his bag and move to sit beside Logan. At first, the smarter boy didn't notice, eyes still closed, completely focused on the music until it paused. Finding that odd, he looked up to see Virgil beside him, his expression asking all he needed to know. Was this alright?

Nodding, they both rested back in their arms, facing each other as the music caught up with them again. They didn't notice they were staring at each other for so long, and honestly neither of them minded.

After the detention was up, Mr. Salad let them leave, Logan snatching up his belongings with attitude. Although, he was kind of grateful he took them away, otherwise Virgil wouldn't of thrown him the earphone, and they wouldn't of silently bonded like they had.

"I...thank you" Roman was first to speak, turning to face the three. "It was nice for you to do that, no one has really ever stuck up for me before..." he drifted, clearing his throat and wearing his grin once again. "I can get used to it"

"I only did it as you were staring to annoy me" Logan dismissed, but they all knew it was a lie. "Yeah, we don't actually care" Virgil added, smiling to show he was joking around.

"I thought it was fun!" Patton added to the conversation as they walked down the silent hallway. "Maybe we could become friends?" He suggested, they all paused at the idea, glancing at each other questioningly. Virgil shrugged, shrinking into his jacket Patton knew he made himself. It was awesome, too.

"I don't have any, so don't expect me to be friendly" he mumbled. "I can agree with Virgil, friendship has never been my forte..." he pushed up his glasses, hidden nervousness swimming in his dark eyes. "Well, I could always use some real friends" Roman grinned, wrapping an arm around Patton's shoulder.

Patton lit up, bouncing on his feet. "We could meet here tomorrow!" Patton suggested excitedly, the others staring at him happily. "And hang out...if you want" he added, tilting his head.

How could they say no?

Not like they wanted to, anyway.

Who knew a detention could bring them this close.

Boop this was the shitty
