Virgil rolled over, tugging his blanket closer to his body, the shouting from his parents ringing through the house, passing by the thin walls as if they weren't there. This happened most nights, his parents would fight over something small and stupid...Virgil quickly realised their relationship was toxic, but he didn't want his parents to split up! He loved them...they still care for him! Both do! But not for each other...which makes it considerably harder to care for their son.

Whimpering, Virgil closed his eyes, heart hammering away in his chest. It frightened him, even if he was fifteen, the noises of parents fighting could scare any teenager, no matter if they were nineteen or thirteen.

Virgil slowly sat up, leaning against the dark headboard, blanket drawn to his shaking body. As he stared at the door, he didn't notice his cupboard slowly open...

"Greetings-!"

"AHHH!" Virgil screamed, nearly falling from the bed. The man from the cupboard also screamed, falling back into the cupboard clumsily, dragging down most of the clothes that hung up with him.

Panting, Virgil drew his legs to his chest, watching with fear but also a twinge of curiosity as the rather regal looking man stood up and dusted himself off, grabbing a shirt that was on his head and carelessly throwing it over his shoulder.

"Next time, warn me" he pointed both hands at his chest, walking around the room until he was by the door. Opening it up, he leaned back and quickly shut it, turning to Virgil with a smile.

"Loud parents! Thank Disney they're loud parents..." he quietened down, finally turning his full attention to Virgil with a kind smile. "Greetings, I am Roman!" he began, flicking his hair from his eyes.

Virgil pressed into the wall, his fear dying down at how stupid he was and silly he looked. "Uh...h-hi?" He questioned, legs slowly moving from his chest to straighten out, but still slightly bent incase.

"I! Am your f-wahh!" He slipped and fell on a toy that was discarded on the floor, falling onto his ass, Virgil slapped a hand over his mouth, snorting. Roman huffed, using the end of the bed to pull himself up, wobbling a bit. "What is with teens and messy rooms!" He huffed mostly to himself, walking around said room.

"What are you doing here?" Virgil asked after awhile, feeling a bit confident, but still panic was striking through his body, Why was there a strange man in his bedroom? That came out of the closet?

"What am I doing here?" Roman laughed, picking up a toy. "Why, I am here too-!" Before he could finish the toy began to light up and play loud shooting noises. Yelping, Roman fell back into a desk, most of the items on it falling to the ground.

"Dude!" Virgil hissed, sitting up to see the damage. "I am sorry! This is hard" Roman groaned, standing up and once again dusting himself off as if the room was covered in dust.

"Finish your sentences!" Virgil angrily demanded, now glaring at the man.

Holding up his hands, Roman grabbed something from his pocket on the inside of his clothes, pulling out a...golden stick?

"I am your fairy god Mother! Here to grant you-"

"Fairy god Mother?" Virgil questioned slightly sassily, raising an eyebrow. Roman threw his arms into the air. "You want me to finish my sentences and you cut me off! What does a fairy god Mother have to do to get some respect!"

"Okay, jeez...I'm sorry" Virgil muttered, shrinking back into his jacket, flinching as he spoke a bit loudly. Roman noticed, calming down. "No, my fault. I am here to grant you one wish! As I have been assigned to do..so..everyone has one wish, what might yours be?" Roman smiled, holding the golden stick in his left hand.

Virgil looked him up and down, wondering what type of drug this man was on...and where he could get some.

Shuffling as far back from the man as he could, Virgil shrugged, scratching his neck. "I don't have a wish" he lied, glaring at the man who chuckled, once again twirling around the room, not graceful at all.

"Everyone does! Why are you so hesitant on telling me?" Roman leaned on the metal frame at the bottom of his bed, slipping a bit as he did but trying to regain any kind of dignity he had left. "Uhh...maybe because fairy god Mothers don't exists?"

Roman made an offended noise, holding a hand across his heart. "Fairy god Mothers don't exist! Well I never! You are staring at one right now!"

"Prove it" he muttered, watching Roman sigh out, straightening his posture. "Fine, tell me your wish, and I shall grant it"

"..." Virgil paused, glancing away from the man. Well, if he was telling the truth...maybe he could help? And if not, he'll either punch him or scream so loud he'd wake up the whole neighbourhood.

"Fine" he finally agreed, watching Roman light up in delight.  "Okay, wish away!"

"I wish..." now, Virgil thought about being stupid and saying 'I wish for food, or more wishes' but then he stopped and thought, there was always rumours about fairy god Mothers...but never was there any proof...then again, what had Disney taught him? All he had to do was believe. So he did.

"I wish my parents were different"

Roman paused, "say-what-now?" He asked, a little confused. Virgil groaned, "forget it..." he sighed, turning his head to the window. Roman stared at him, then finally tuned in on the shouting just downstairs...frowning, he gazed at Virgil who had drawn his legs up to his chest, chin resting on his knees.

"I see" Roman spoke quietly, understanding what he meant. It was a bit...extreme, but Roman could handle it...maybe.

Holding out his arms, he waved around his golden stick - aka the wand - and yelled out an incoherent word. Suddenly, there was a flash of light and Virgil sat bolt up right in bed, taking in his surroundings.

"Shit...that was a dream?" He muttered, but then...he realised this wasn't his room...

Jumping out from bed, he kicked away the sheets, backing into the wall that was different from his own. The whole room was different! Completely! It wasn't dark and aesthetically pleasing, more bright and...random. Toys littered across the floor he'd never even dream about buying, and two beds.

"You're up!" He flinched, spinning around to the source of the voice. It was a boy that looked to be the same age as himself, light brown hair that hovered over his forehead, and a wide happy smile.

Suddenly, Virgil narrowed his eyes. "Thomas?" He said quietly, stunned as to why he would know this kids name, he's never met him before! 'Thomas' laughed, walking up to him. "Of course it's me! Are you alright, Verge?"

"Verge? No..no one calls me Verge..."

Thomas tilted his head in confusion and concern, "we all do...did you fall out of bed and hit your head?" Then, he lit up, "that rhymed!"  He giggled. Utterly confused and a bit creeped out, Virgil slipped past the boy and down the stairs in the unfamiliar house, hearing voices from the kitchen he dashed in, gasping at the sight of two men preparing breakfast.

"Kiddo!" One exclaimed, setting down two plates with bacon, eggs and other cooked breakfast food. He pressed a kiss to Virgil's forehead, smiling at him widely. "Did you sleep well?" He asked, his fatherly demeanour making Virgil feel..warm inside. His parents haven't acted like this to him in a long time...mostly because of the arguing.

"Patton, let him sit" the other spoke, not even glancing away from the food he prepared. Giggling, Patton ruffled his hair and skipped over to the man, hugging him from behind. "I'm just asking, Logy!" Patton kissed his cheek, leaning into him.

"Logy?" Virgil mouthed, slowly backing out until he bumped into someone. It was Thomas. "Hey, leaving so soon? You haven't eaten breakfast! You know Logan's the best cook!"

"With the help of Patton" Logan commented, smiling at his husband who blushed, glancing at Virgil. "You alright, Kiddo? You look pale" Patton worried, walking up to him and pressing a hand against his forehead.

"No I...I'm fine" Patton didn't look convinced, but smiled anyway, kissing his head and sitting at the table with Thomas and Logan. Watching them, Virgil assumed they were a family...but...why was he here? And why are they treating him like he's their kid?

Wait...

I wish my parents were different...

That weirdo was actually a fairy god Mother?! And this is what he thought Virgil meant by "parents were different?" Oh wait...he could see it now. No..no...he didn't want this! He wanted his parents! He just didn't want them to argue a lot! Stumbling back, he crashed into the counter, knocking down a few plates that shattered across the floor, making them all jump and Thomas yelp.

Virgil gasped, backing away, fear written across his face. "O-..oh god I'm so sorry" he whispered, holding out an arm as if they'd attack him. "Virgil...Kiddo calm down, breathe, remember your technique?" Patton soothed, both arms on Virgil's forearms. Wait...they even knew of his anxiety?! His...his own parents don't know of that...but...they're just busy at the moment! It doesn't mean they don't love him. He knows that for certain.

...right?

Calming him down, Patton led him to the front room as Logan and Thomas cleaned up, both worried about Virgil who seems on edge. "I'm here for you, son, what's wrong?" Patton spoke in a soft voice, sitting beside Virgil.

"I...I made a..." he drifted off, cutting himself short. Did he...really want to tell them now? He-he means...well..for once in awhile he felt truly cared for and-and even if it wasn't his own family, that doesn't really matter...right? Just for awhile, until he finds Roman and changes this back. Yeah. That's what he'll do.

"I made a mistake, last night, I took one too many sleeping pills..I must still be out of it" Virgil lied, scratching his neck. "Kiddo! Why didn't you say so?" Patton chuckled, hugging him to his chest. "I was worried..."

His heart thudded against his rib cage, warming up every inch of his skin. Is this what it felt like to have caring parents?

"Why don't you sleep for a little while longer" Patton suggested, brushing his bangs to the side. "I'll wake you up at midday, then we can go out like we planned!" Virgil smiled, agreeing with his...Dad?

"Thanks, Dad"

"No problem, Kiddo!" Ushering him upstairs, Virgil flopped on his bed, snuggling deep under the comfortable duvet. He...could get used to this for awhile.

Virgil hated himself for saying today was one of the best he'd had in awhile. With his "family" they spent the day at the beach, respecting Virgil's choice of staying in dark clothing that covered most of his skin, and making sure to never leave him alone when they wanted to play in the ocean. Honestly, they treated him like they loved him, and Virgil could just...cry happy tears at the sensation.

Currently, he sat beside Logan, his other Dad, watching Patton and Thomas mess around in the cold ocean, the sun setting behind them. "Thanks..for today...it was fun" Virgil commented, hesitantly leaning his head on Logan's shoulder. He learned from just a few hours Logan was the opposite from Patton, quite straight forward and not good with the whole sharing emotions thing, which was...fine, good, in fact, because Virgil could relate.

"Of course. I am glad you enjoyed it" Logan replied, wrapping an arm around his sons shoulders. "Hey..Dad?" Logan hummed, most of the time Thomas - and now Virgil - call Patton Dad and Logan, well, Logan, but that didn't mean Logan didn't mind being called Dad on occasion. In fact, he preferred it to be rare, as on those rare moments it made him feel happy.

"Are you...happy, that I'm here?"

Logan paused, glancing at Virgil who hid his face. "Yes, why would I not be?"

Virgil softly shook his head, "s'nothing..."

"You can talk to me, Virgil. Or Patton, he is much more educated with emotions than myself"

"You're fine, Logan...it doesn't make you any less better of a Dad...kinda doesn't make sense but you get the point" Virgil sighed, Logan only chuckled, cheeks heating up at the compliment.

"Thank you, Virgil"

"No problem..."

After that, Patton and Thomas came back and dried off, helping the other two to pack up and head home, of course they got ice cream on the way, even if Logan stated they hadn't had dinner, and it would spoil it.

As they drove home, Thomas and Patton sung whatever came on the radio loudly, Virgil just listened and smiled.

He felt happy. It was nice.
