Noise - Patton x Logan & Roman x Virgil
S'good song ^
—
Logan didn't know why he woke up at 1:27am that night until the noise - that presumably woke up - sounded again. Sitting up he put on his glasses and stretched his arms while scanning his room for anything peculiar. Once confirming it was all normal he walked to the source of the sound, noticing a small hole in his wall.
"How did that get there?" he spoke to himself, making a torch appear in his hands. Flashing the light through the hole didn't help much but it went far. Pressing his ear against the hole he heard the noise again, it wasn't an animal, but it was hard to describe.
It was a tapping of sorts, not something against a pipe, not water dropping onto the floor...Logan wracked his brain for anything when a sudden memory of Roman prancing around in high heels came alight.
It was the same noise! High heels tapping against the ground but not fast enough for someone to be walking, more like someone tapping their food against the ground.
He stood up and tossed the torch away, grabbing some slippers before exiting out of his room and silently shutting the door behind him. Crossing his arms to conceal warmth he padded along the carpet and down the hallway, the tapping could not be heard in the hall so he stopped outside of the room down from his own. Virgil's.
Appearing in the room - so he didn't make noises by opening the door - he noticed the anxious trait fast asleep with his phone laying on his chest. Logan noticed the tapping was more louder in this room, but not loud enough to wake anyone up.
How was he awoken? The noice was not as loud in his own room.
Checking the same wall the hole was on in his own room he peeked inside but saw nothing, the noise never stopped, it had a consistent tapping, no rhythm but no pauses either.
Heading down the hallway once more he checked inside of Romans room to see the same hole, the tapping louder again. Confused, he carried on his adventure, not really paying attention he turned a corner and bumped into someone. Logan and the other person screamed in fright, jumping away before realising who the other was.
"Patton?"
"Logan?"
They both said at the same time. "You scared the life out of me!" Logan held a hand over his heart, calming himself down. "I'm sorry! I just heard a noise and-"
"You hear it too?"
Patton nodded, he looked a little frightened but he went with Logan anyway, slowly walking down the hallway. "Wait!" Logan whispered, holding up his arm.
They both strained their hearing, the tapping noise could be heard but it was very faint. "Come on" Logan motioned, turning down halls, the noise becoming louder and louder. Patton glanced at the imagination, pausing when he realised the door was cracked open. Knowing the beasts that lurk in there he rushed to Logan, going to stop him when a door from down the hallway creaked open.
"Who could it...be?" Logan asked quietly, glancing at Patton. "Roman?" He suggested, Logan told him the other two were fast asleep, and it couldn't be Thomas as he could not enter the mind unless he was with one of his sides. "The imagination was open" Pattons voice wavered as he shuffled closer to Logan, grabbing his arm in fright.
"Wait..." Logan paused, "the tapping. It stopped" Pattons eyes widened at the realisation, he whipped around but couldn't see anyone or anything that could've made the noises.
Logan slowly drifted to the door, "Logan! You don't know what's in there" Patton whispered/yelled worriedly, walking with him anyway. "Exactly" Logan replied, placing his hand on the notably old wood compared to other doors in the mind.
The old door creaked open, hitting against the wall softly. The room was pitch black and silent. Logan reached his arm in, feeling for a light on the wall. Pattons eyes trailed to Logan's face in time to see all colour drain from it, his arm stopped its movements.
"Run" he whispered, suddenly recoiling his arm and grabbing Patton. "Wh-"
"RUN!"
Patton didn't stop, he and Logan sprinted for their lives down the hallway, the lights above them flickering off after they passed each one. "Do not look behind you" Logan yelled, turning down a hallway with Pattons hand tightly clasped in his own.
Patton couldn't help it, he turned his head and screamed.
"I told you!" Logan tugged his arm, keeping patton close as the smarter trait fumbled his doorknob, slamming the door open and tumbling inside, Patton landing beside him.
Logan kicked the door closed with his foot and scrambled to his feet with Patton, ducking under the covers on his bed they held each other close, shaking violently.
The next day the two traits walked to the kitchen.
"Why can't we watch a movie other than Disney?" Virgil complained, head in his arms. "Other movies aren't nearly as good!"
Virgil scoffed and lifted his head, staring at the disheveled pair. "You guys look like hell" he commented, making the Prince turn around and stare confused until a smirk stretched across his face.
"First time, eh?" He suggested, wriggling his eyebrows. "No...nothing of the sort" Logan breathed, collapsing onto a chair and holding his head in his hands.
"Uh...um...Roman?" Patton spoke meekly.
"Yes, Pat?"
"What...What is the scariest creature in the imagination?"
The royal contemplated the question while munching on some toast, eyes exploring the room as he thought. "I would say..." he began, swallowing his food.
"Well" he chuckled, spreading butter on his second toast. "I would say...myself" he joked, eating his toast with a grin and mischievous eyes.
"This is serious, you halfwit" Logan snapped. Roman sighed, rolling his eyes and finishing his breakfast. "Why do you have such an interest? The imagination is my place" Roman explained, dumping a plate in the sink.
"Your place or not, tell us" Logan pushed, standing up and glaring at the flamboyant trait who sighed, gulping down some apple juice.
"Lots of them are scary! You have to be specific"
"How specific?"
"Well, some creatures look terrifying but sound hilarious, and vice versa" he shrugged, "Why?"
Logan shook his head, dismissing his question. "Let me show you something" he said. The three followed him to his room where he went to the wall with the hole, furrowing his eyebrows when it wasn't there.
"Can anything make you see things?"
Roman nodded, leaning on the wall. "What did you see?"
"A small hole"
Roman scoffed, "no, they don't do that, they make you see horrifying things" he explained. Logan went into the others rooms but none of them had the hole. "This is concerning...and highly confusing"
"Why? What's going on?" Virgil piped up, a little anxious.
"Didn't you anything last night?" Patton asked before Logan could explain the situation. The royal and the emo shared a glance, both shaking their heads. "No...were we meant to?"
"We heard a tapping, much like a high heel but not walking, just tapping...there were holes in each of your walls-"
"You went into my room?" Roman and Virgil asked at the same time. "Jinx" Virgil smirked, earning a scowl. "Yes, for a good cause"
"What about the room?" Patton brought up, looking scared just thinking about it. "The room?" Roman inquired. "Follow us" Logan replied.
They walked through the hallway Patton did Logan did last night, turning the last corner the logical trait and Morality paused their movements, mouth falling open into a look of shock and pure horror.
"What? What is it?" Virgil asked, following Logan who ran to the wall, no door insight.
"No..no..where did it go?" Logan slammed his hand against the wall but nothing, it wasn't hollow, either. "Where did what go? Is this a prank?" Roman sighed, raising his eyebrow. "If so I have things to be doing-"
"There was a room!" Logan yelled, kicking the thick wall. "Right here"
"A room?" Roman repeated.
"So, last night you saw holes, a room, and tapping of high...oh..." Logan and Patton turned to Roman as his eyes widened into fear-filled ones. Usually Roman didn't get frightened often, but he looked like he just saw a ghost, a terrifying fucking ghost.
"Roman? You're scaring me" Virgil worried, taking a step back. Roman turned to Logan, "did you see anything?" He asked, voice stern, not as happy as it once was
"Patton did"
Roman turned to the man in question, he glanced at the two, his body beginning to shake. "I...I...all I saw was red eyes"
Roman dragged a hand down his face, turning away and muttering to himself quietly. "Did you touch it?" Roman asked, turning to Logan once more. He nodded, "it felt..wrinkly"
Romans sword appeared in his hands, he became tense and glanced down the hallway to the right of the wall where the door once was. It was dark but that wasn't unusual, usually the hallways away from the main part of the mind were dark until you went down them.
Suddenly...
Tap...tap...tap
"That's the noise" Logan whispered, fearing for his life while he shuffled closer to Patton who was as pale as a ghost, Virgil not doing any better.
"When I say go.." Roman began, a small rock appearing in his free hand. "Appear in Thomas's living room, okay? You cannot hesitant"
"Why?" Logan's voice wavered as he spoke.
"You will die" Roman stated simply, making a few tears trail down Pattons cheeks and a panic attack to slowly start in Virgil.
Recoiling his arm Roman threw the rock down the hall, it triggered the sensor lights and the sides saw the most gruesome and horrifying creature they have ever seen - something like that not even the most evil minded of people could make up.
A grin stretched across its wrinkly, black face, showing teeth dripping with dark crimson blood.
A high pitched laugh boomed down the hallway
"GO!" The sides disappeared into the real world, Patton began to sob in Logan's arms, the two laying on the ground, shaking in terror.
Roman dropped his sword and hugged Virgil tightly, staring at the ground with a traumatised look.
Thomas flinched at the sudden appearance of his sides, noticing their state and becoming worried. "Guys?" He asked gently, putting his laptop to the side. Roman looked at his host and shook his head, shutting him up instantly.
After that, no side ever went back into Thomas's mind...
