Handcuffs - Roman x Virgil

Third book! Enjoú!

Patton had watched enough. He grabbed Logan's arm and tugged him up from the couch, leaving the room Roman and Virgil were loudly arguing in.

"We have to do something" Patton spoke, crossing his arms and frowning. Logan nodded in agreement, commenting that their ongoing arguments are quite distracting.

"What can we do? I don't want my sons to fight..." Patton looked like a lost puppy, meaning Logan would have to think of something.

"Remember awhile ago we watched this stupid television show about trying to get two people to become friends?" Patton thought back a few weeks ago, nodding slowly as the memory flashed in his brain.

"Well - one attempt was to make the two participants hold hands. It seemed to work for them as they had to figure out how to work as a team which in turn stopped them from arguing"

"Yes! You're a genius, Logy!" Patton exclaimed.

"I know" Logan smirked, watching Patton rush into the room but come back out a few seconds later.

"How will we make them hold hands? They would never agree!" Logan sighed, looking off to the side, was he really about to suggest this? Anything to get them from arguing...

"I have an idea..."

Later that night when Roman and Virgil had finally fallen asleep Logan and Patton set their plan into action. Logan grabbed his pair of handcuffs he uses for....fun and followed Patton as he carried his son, Roman, to the living room, laying him gently on the couch.

"I'll get my dark strange son...while you hand cuff on hand" Patton grinned, dashing off silently. Logan did so, waiting for Patton to come back.

It only took a few minutes, Patton laid Virgil down above Romans head, Logan handcuffing their arms together.

"Will they hate us?" Patton worried, walking down the hall with Logan. "Most indubitably, but this will be good for them" Logan reassured, Patton seemed to relax and he bid goodnight, kissing Logan's cheek before vanishing to his room.

The next morning Roman was first to awake. He rubbed his eye with one hand, slowly sitting up, confusion taking over. When did he go to the living room?

He tried to lift both arms but his right arm could only move so far, his eyes trailed down his arm to his hand, following along the chain of the handcuff to the other hand attached, his eyes went up his arm and to his face to realise quickly it was Virgil.

"Mother fu-"

He stopped himself as Virgil stirred, rolling over and falling off the couch. Both boys yelped, Roman from being tugged down with him and Virgil from a sudden weight landing on top of him.

Virgil opened his eyes, staring at Roman for a few seconds before he screamed, making Roman scream back. They tried to scramble away but the handcuff wouldn't let them, not to mention the pain on their wrists.

"I can't believe you! Why would you do this?!" Virgil yelled, trying to tug off the handcuff.

"Me?!" Roman exclaimed, eyes narrowing. "Why would I chain myself to you?!"

"I don't know!" Virgil exasperated, finally giving up and letting his arms drop. They both stared at each other, contemplating who would've done this. "Let's just find the damn key" Virgil finally muttered, standing up but having to bend down slightly as Roman hasn't budged.

"Move it, Princey" the royal still didn't move, staring at Virgils hair.

"What?" He said, feeling self conscious as he brushed his hair to the side.

"Wait!" Roman said, making Virgil pause his movements. "Is that..."

"What?" Virgil worried

"A spider? In your hair?"

Virgil let out a scream, ruffling his hair vigorously, due to his sudden panic he lost balance and landed on Roman, writhing in his lap crazily.

"Get it off! Get it off!" He yelled, slowly slowing down when he heard Roman let out a roar of laughter. Finally realising what the royal had done his eyes narrowed and he shoved Romans chest, standing up only to bend down.

"I hate you" Virgil spat, watching Roman let out the last of his few giggles.

"Your face..." Roman smiled, is beautiful "was priceless! You looked so-" stunning "scared!" Roman ignored the little voices whispering the compliments he so desperately wanted to say to the man bending down in front of him.

"Whatever, fucker" Virgil muttered, grabbing the chain on the handcuff and tugging it sharply, making Roman let out a cry of pain, the metal cutting his skin.

"Oh god...shit, I'm sorry-"

"It's quite alright" Roman cut him off, standing up and rubbing his wrist softly. "I'm sorry for scaring you, come on now! Let us find the two trouble makers"

"Usually Logan would say that about us" Virgil snorted, Roman shrugged and the two walked down the hall. Roman was always a little faster than Virgil, so Virgil trailed behind.

"Can you walk faster?" Roman eventually sighed, looking back at Virgil who only looked at him smugly.

"I could"

Roman sighed. "Would you?"

"Nope" Virgil grinned, Romans jaw clenched and he picked up his speed leaving Virgil no choice but to speed up, too.

They made it to Logan's room, Roman knocking on the wooden door. It opened a few seconds later, Logan looking as smart as always. He looked down at the hands, a smile creeping up on his lips.

"Ah, I see you two are awake"

"Great observation" Virgil replied, sarcasm dripping from his voice.

"Give us the keys" Roman demanded.

"What keys?"

"Don't play dumb, logic!"

"I haven't the foggiest idea about what you are blathering on about" he spoke, Virgil dragged a hand down his face while Roman rolled his eyes, tugging Logan's tie to bring him closer.

"Keys"

"I am sorry" Logan said, slowly taking his precious tie from Romans grip. "But I have not got them, they are in the tower close to your castle in the imagination" he advised, putting a hand on his door.

"Good luck" with that, his door closed and locked.

"Logan!" Roman growled, hitting his door a few times.

"That tower needs two people to climb! Virtually impossible for-!" Roman paused, eyes traveling to Virgil.

"Never mind" he grinned, tugging him down the hall.

"No, no way" Virgil stated, planting his feet firmly on the carpeted ground. "I refuse to go into the imagination"

"And why is that?"

"The creatures!"

"They fear me, emo nightmare"

"The only time something would be scared of you is if you locked them in a room and sang"

Roman gasped, glaring at his counterpart. "Don't you dare insult my beautiful singing!"

Not just beautiful, it's Angelic "beautiful?-" Yes "Riiiiight" Virgil dragged out sarcastically, earning a glare from his secret crush.

The two carried on their walk, Roman entering the imagination first but pausing when his arm was tugged back.

"I....I-"

"I know you're scared" Roman stated, staring into Virgils eyes. "But I will protect you, you trust me, don't you?"

With my life "barely....but whatever, let's just go, the sooner I'm away from you the better"

Roman felt hurt from that but he brushed it to the side, walking in step with Virgil across the land to the tower - impossible to climb if you're alone.

"How often are you in here?" Virgil decided to make conversation, stuffing his free hand into his pocket.

"Most days, distracts me from my thoughts"

"What thoughts? I'm the one with anxiety..."

"Touché but I am Thomas's creative side...sometimes the creative thoughts get overwhelming" he replied, staring into the distance. Virgil looked at the side of his face, knowing that wasn't all that bothered him.

"Anything else?"

Yes, so much - "Why do you care?"

"I don't" - I do

"There we go, then" Roman sighed, ending the conversation. An awkward silent settled, Roman keeping an eye out for any creature who would be stupid enough to attack.

"There it is" Roman pointed out, Virgil looking up from the grass to the abandoned tower.

"We're gonna die"

"I thought an emo like you wouldn't mind"

"Too far, Princey"

Roman only smirked, stopping outside of the tower. "How do we get in?" Virgil muttered, staring at the chained door. "We climb" Roman replied simply, gripping onto rock that protruded from the side, pulling himself up.

"Woah, woah, stop" Virgil said, still on the ground with his arm in the air.

"I don't- we could- I mean-"

"Trust me" Roman cut him off, holding his free arm to him. Roman watched fear dance in Virgils eyes but he clasped Romans hand anyway, letting the royal tug him up onto the other rock a few feet above.

"See that window?" Roman motioned to the window up from Virgil.

"Y-Yeah?"

"Climb in"

"...okay" Virgil breathed in deeply, standing up on shaky legs, Roman reached up far enough to give Virgil enough slack to climb in, he jumped onto the rock and followed suit.

"Shit" Virgil breathed, standing on the broke stair case. Roman grinned, he loved climbing this tower, even if he could never do it alone, the amount of times he's nearly died in his damn tower...

"Follow me and stay close to the wall" Roman advised, Virgil nodded and they slowly climbed up the few stairs, coming up to a gap where some steps had collapsed.

Roman took a giant step, one foot on the other stair.

"Do the same as me" Roman commanded, looking at Virgil who was visibly shaking. "I hate Logan and Patton so much" he muttered to himself, not a word was true but he was pissed off at them for sure.

"You'll be fine" Roman smiled, encouraging him. Sure enough, Virgil made the leap, Roman pushing him onto the other stairs.

"Tug me up" Roman called, Virgil grabbing his chain and tugging him over. Roman bit back a hiss of pain from the chain digging into his abused wrist.

They did a few more leaps over the broken steps, coming to the top in a short amount of time.

"Inside that room probably has the key" Roman advised, looking at the leap impossible to do alone.

"You have to grab that vine" he pointed up at the vine impossible for one person to grab alone, "and cling onto it...I'll jump and when I say now you swing yourself from the vine, creating enough force to push us both farther - while in the air - I'll grab your arm, push you to the little ledge before the door and you grab the chain, pulling me up....got it?"

Virgil stared at him ludicrously, mouth agape.

"I can't...we'll fall"

"Don't worry, I've fallen down there plenty times! It only hurts awhile" Virgil gave him a look, breathing in to calm his nerves.

"Promise this will work?"

Roman nodded, glancing down at his lips. "I promise" he said, so desperately wanting to kiss him but holding himself back.

He lifted Virgil onto the vine, only letting go when he was sure Virgil wouldn't fall. "Remember the plan?"

"No..."

"Good enough"

Roman took a few steps back, "here we go..." he whispered, getting a small running start before leaping into the air. Virgil followed the plan, swinging himself forward, letting Roman grab his arm and throw him to the ledge. Virgil was able to grab the chain with both hands before it tugged down on his wrist but Roman wasn't so lucky, the metal ripped at the skin around his wrist but he ignored the pain, letting virgil tug him up.

"Are you okay?" Roman quickly asked, checking his wrist.

"I'm fine- Roman! Look at your wrist!"

Roman did so, looking at the abused flesh, letting out a soft sigh. "Don't let Patton see...that little ball of sunshine will feel guilt for the rest of his life"

"You're bleeding!"

"I've nearly been clawed to death, this is nothing"

Virgils eyes widened and Roman shook his head quickly, telling him that he was fine. The two stood up, Roman opening the door and rushing inside with Virgil.

"The key!" Virgil said, grabbing the said key from hanging rope it was attached to. "Now we're free" Roman grinned, watching Virgil stare at the handcuffs for a few seconds.

"Virgil-?"

"Wha? Yeah...uh...sorry" he unlocked the handcuffs, letting it fell to the floor with the key. Roman delicately held his wrist, wincing.

"Sorry, this is my fault"

"How is it possibly your f-?"

"I start the arguments...this was to get us to become...friends...and now you're hurt" Roman chuckled, shrugging it off. "Barely"

"Roman-"

"I promise I'm fine...as long as I'm with you"

"Wh-...what?"

Roman flushed, "I...I said that aloud?"

"Yeah...but I feel the same"

Roman smirked, "upon said that out loud" Virgil blushed, looking away.

"Do you really feel that way?"

"Well...yeah"

Two arms coiled around Virgils waist and Roman hid his face in his neck. "Thank you"

"Thank you?" Virgil mumbled, hugging him back tightly. "I thought you hated me"

"I could never hate you..." Virgil responded, leaning back from the hug to stare at Romans face.

"I never have"

Roman smiled, "I can't believe a pair of handcuffs brought us together..."

"Maybe handcuffs can be our always..."

Thanks for the request! Sorry if it's not...exactly how you thought it would be, lol
