Against The Rules - Roman x Logan

AU

"Are you ready?"

Roman brushed a hand through his hair one last time, making sure it looked messily perfect. Finally spinning around to face his mother he nodded, glancing at his Father who was also checking himself out.

"You're men! You're not supposed to care!" Romans younger sister whined, watching as Roman looked at himself one last time.

"Don't be sexist" Roman shot her a smirk, earning a scowl.

"Right, no arguing you two, I want them to think we're are a good, functional family" Romans Mother said, giving both of her children a look.

Roman chuckled, "that won't last" he murmured, earning a snort from his Father.

They all left the house, Roman rushing ahead to knock on the new neighbours house just down the road from their own.

Roman used his phone screen to make sure he looked perfect before the door opened, hiding his phone he put on his usual charming smile.

"Greetings!" Roman declared, "I'm Roman, and you are beautiful" he watched as a shocked expression appeared on the boys face, straight after a light blush coated his cheeks.

"Uh-Uh...hello, I am Logan" Roman smiled, clasping his hand with Logan's and kissing the back of it quickly, just before his family would see.

Logan stumbled for the right words, watching as Roman winked and held a finger over his mouth before stepping to the side, revealing his parents and younger sister.

He watched from the side, listening to his parents introducing themselves to the boy who stood in the doorway. He took it pretty well, Roman thought, noting that he wasn't shy, or at least, didn't seem shy. He could just be a really good actor...like himself.

Then, two adults appeared, a short woman along with a very tall man.

Roman decided to get straight in to mushing up with the parents as soon as possible. He jumped in front of his parents, smiling warmly. "Greetings! I'm Roman, we live up the street! As you are the new neighbours I thought we should come over and introduce ourselves"

"Oh, well, that's kind of you!" Roman smiled at the woman - presumably Logan's Mother - shaking her cold hand.

"Your welcome, ma'am" he grinned, charmingly kissing the back of her hand, earning a giggle from her.

"Do you do that to everyone?" Logan asked as Roman stood up straight

"Only to people I like" he winked, the woman giggling again. She was quite old, but she knew Roman was only being a gentleman. Logan shook his head, this time hiding his blush from Romans prying eyes.

After awhile of Roman smiling at Logan and him blushing with the parents talking in the background Roman decided to step in.

"Anyway" he clasped his hands together. "I'm sorry we came so...unannounced, I hope we didn't disturb anything?"

"No, no! It's alright" the Father reassured.

"Such a polite boy, you raised him well" the woman smiled at Romans Mother who only chuckled, replying with a thank you.

"Well...I shall be heading off, lots of homework, but I would love to meet up with Logan tomorrow - if he isn't busy, of course - maybe I can show him around?" Roman offered, watching Logan stare at him with a questioning gaze.

"Yes! He's not busy at all"

"Mother, do you not want my help unpacking-?"

"No, silly! Wouldn't want you getting lost"

"It's settled, then" Roman smiled. "Tomorrow"

As promised Roman showed up to their house the next day, fixing his hair in his phone camera before knocking on the hard wood. Logan's Father answered and they had a small chat while Logan got ready, Roman knowing he was warming up to the parents already. He wouldn't be surprised if they left him marry Logan right then and there but only one problem...

Romans parents were homophobic. He didn't know if Logan's parents felt the same way, which is why he was keeping his flirting and charming characteristics on a low.

"Are you ready, Monsieur?" Roman grinned at Logan who straightened out his black shirt, fixing his glasses which went askew.

Logan wore a tiny smile, shrugging his shoulders so straighten out his sleeves. "Of course" he replied, Roman held out his arm and Logan stared at it for a few seconds, staring into Romans eyes after.

"We met yesterday"

"All love stories begin somewhere"

Logan sighed, closing the door and walking in step next to Roman who opened his gate for him. "I must admit you are quite different from most teenage boys"

"Most teenage boys are straight" Roman shrugged, flashing his charming smile. Logan seemed to get a little flustered at his statement, composing himself quickly. "You are gay? And you trust me with this information?"

"Course, four eyes, you're gay too, why wouldn't I return the offer?"

Logan's eyes widened as they turned down an empty, quiet street. "Is it that obvious? My parents cannot know"

"Dammit" Roman muttered under his breath, Logan completely unaware. "It's not obvious to most, my gaydar is especially good" Roman chuckled, arms clasped behind his back.

"Now" he started a new conversation, stopping his movements at a four-way turn off. "Would you like to see the school, the park, the mall or the forest?" He smiled, pointing in each direction as he listed it off.

"Or, of course, elsewhere" he added, turning to Logan who thought about it. "The school, I would like to see where I will gain an education to go to collage to eventually go to university and get a job-"

"Woah there, nerdy boy" Roman chuckled, "we're still far off"

"I am sixteen...are you younger?"

"I had a grand sweet sixteen last week! Oh, if only you were there! I would have swooped you down and kissed you on that stage until my parents shot me" Roman looked away, daydreaming about it.

"Ah, your parents are homophobic, also?"

Roman nodded with a sigh, "It is but a curse! Laid upon me by that evil dragon witch from my nightmares as a child!"

"Dragon...witch?" Logan repeated, eyebrows knitting together.

"I had quite the imagination, come along!" Roman grabbed Logan's arm and tugged him across the quiet street, heading towards the large school. Logan didn't forget about how Roman said he would've kissed him, merely pushing it to the back of his brain. This Roman guy must either be desperate or a play boy or believe in love at first sight - which is just ridiculous.

They crossed another street, heading to the large fence that surrounded the building kids are stuck in for seven hours each day.

"This" Roman pointed dramatically, "is the building of learning!" He declared, watching Logan look it up and down, eyes lighting up.

"It is massive! How many facilities does it have?"

"A teenager excited over school...that's a first" Roman murmured to himself, but he smiled again seeing the excited expression on Logan's face. Absolutely adorable.

"A facility for any subject you could possibly imagine, my dear Logan"

"I want summer to be over now, imagine all that learning..." he gushed to himself, quickly turning to Roman.

"How bad are the other students?" He asked suspiciously, knowing this might be too good to be true.

"Oh, the school is very fair to good students, you will be placed with the worst class and moved every few weeks, depending on your behaviour. This may not be the same in other schools but...this is how we work" Roman explained, watching Logan nod slowly.

"I suppose that is fair...I shall be in the best class in no time. What class are you in?"

Roman smirked, "I pride myself in being one of the smartest in the school, third to be exact, but I do not care about that, all I care about is how I am the number one best actor! Lead roll in every play we put on! Isn't that amazing?!" This time he was gushing, the two boys complete opposite.

But, opposites attract.

"I suppose you are in the top class, then?" Logan asked, staring at the school once more. "Of course! The two smarter students are quite...stuck up, so I trust you to beat them very quickly"

"Oh, do not worry" Logan smirked, just thinking about it. "I will"

Next Logan chose to go to the park, wanting to stay outside for longer. It wasn't too far away from the school but it was quite full with a bunch of teenagers of all kinds.

"Stay away from those" Roman pointed at the bad students. "And you shall be grand" he smiled, ruffling Logan's hair. Logan swatted his hands way, fixing it back to its smart, neat position.

"Hey, Emperor!" One of Romans friends yelled, running up to him. They shared a hug, Roman grinning at him but Logan noticed it wasn't the same as the grin directed at himself..it seemed not as real, if that makes sense.

Once finishing their conversation Logan and Roman walked to the empty swings. "Why did they call you Emperor?" Logan questioned, sitting on the squeaky swing and pushing himself from the ground, Roman following his movements.

"Roman Emperor" he grinned, going much higher than Logan.

Logan nodded, "It is a cool nickname, better then nerd...are people creative in this school?"

"Wait till you see the art lining the halls! Our school is glorious! Apart from the...bad students, everyone else is all amazing in their own, special way!...although I am the best" he added, Logan rolled his eyes fondly.

"But my place could be taken"

"By who?"

"I wonder" Roman replied cryptically, laughing after and leaning back on the swing. The sky clear and blue.

The rest of the day was spent exploring the mall, the forest didn't seem like a place Logan would want to travel to, anyway.

Roman bought a few clothes and food for them both, laughing and cracking jokes with Logan who slowly eased in his company, becoming less...closed off, and actually telling Roman why he had moved.

"My parents did not like the boy who was supposedly "hitting on me" so we moved"

"Woah, really?"

Logan nodded, "they really dislike anyone who is not straight...it is quite literally heartbreaking, and unsettling. What if one day they find out I am..." he trailed off, not wanting to admit it aloud.

Roman gave him a sympathetic smile, pulling Logan to a corner of a shop and wrapping him in a comforting hug, one he appreciated greatly.

"I only met you yesterday and you are already closer than any of my friends" Roman whispered, feeling Logan practically melt in his hold.

"I am glad I am a suitable friend for you" he replied, both leaning back from the hug. Roman chuckled, "what a funny way to word it..." he murmured, flicking a strand of Logan's hair back to its correct position.

"I said you were beautiful before but now you are simply...breathtaking" and Roman meant every word, he has never seen a boy look as good as he did at that moment, with the rising blush it made him look breathtakingly adorable.

"Thank you, Roman, but...but I...our parents-"

"I know" Roman smiled, brushing his thumb across Logan's soft cheek before his arms fell back to his sides, Logan missing his touch instantly. "I'll take you home" Roman said, Logan nodded and they silently left the mall, Roman starting up conversation during the walk. The sun had almost set, an orange glow shining across the empty streets.

Usually the streets are full durning midday but around this time people are either on the busier streets or at a party.

Or, at home, of course.

Roman opened Logan's gate for him, earning a thank you. Roman smiled, leading his new close friend to his door

"I...did not expect to have this much fun, today. I am glad my Mother persuaded me to go. Thank you, Roman" Roman chuckled, bowing slightly. "I'm overjoyed you think that! I won't bother you tomorrow as I am sure you have unpacking to do but...I am willing to go behind my parents back, for you"

Logan nodded, a smile creeping up on his lips. "I am willing, also" Logan opened his door but before he disappeared inside he faced Roman once more.

"I am...free this Friday" he hesitated, meeting Romans gaze. Roman grinned, calming his nerves. "I'll be here by seven" he whispered, glancing around before pressing a short kiss to the back of Logan's hand, waving before walking down the path to the gate.

"Goodbye, Roman"

"Farewell, Logan!"

Anyone want me to write about the date? I have an idea in mind. I don't have to, if you don't want but if you do...holla
