I Give Up - Roman x Logan

Who wants some Roman angst? I do! might not be good though

The video started off happy, all sides content, talking calmly to one another...until Roman accidentally set everyone off. He didn't mean to, he only mentioned something that he shouldn't of, now everyone was shouting, trying to get their word across.

"This would not have happened if Roman kept his mouth shut" Logan snapped, crossing his arms and glaring at Roman who held a hand over his heart.

"Me? But-"

"Princey, don't even try to defend yourself, nimrod"

"But-!"

"Roman, can you stop being so insensitive for one minute?" Patton finally broke, glaring at the trait. Roman stared at all of them individually, realizing they were all mad at him for one mistake...as if the others hadn't made mistakes before.

He looked to Thomas for some sort of help but the host only looked the other way, leaving Roman completely on his own.

He opened and closed his mouth, trying to think of some sort of reply that wouldn't offend someone until he...gave up.

His arms dropped to his side. This has happened before, actually it's happened in the last few videos they tried to record but it never worked out, in the end, they would all gang up on Roman and leave him defenceless - sometimes he didn't even do anything wrong, they just picked up on things he did in the past.

It's fine, it's not like he needs any more guilt weighing on his breaking heart.

"Fine" he whispered in such an emotionless voice it worried the sides a slight bit. Usually, he would've apologized by now and all would be normal...not today.

"I'm insensitive, huh? I didn't notice, maybe I should try harder" Patton went to speak but Roman was already talking again, this time to Virgil.

"I shouldn't defend myself? Okay" he shrugged, "Attack me all you want! I won't try and stop you"

Finally, Logan.

"You want me to keep my mouth shut? Fine" he let out a humorless, pain-filled chuckle. "You will never hear one word" he pointed to his mouth, "from me again"

Pinching his two fingers he dragged them over his lips, like he was zipping them closed, and throwing away the key.

He glanced at Thomas, shaking his head. "Thanks" he mouthed, sinking down into his room. The room went deadly silent until Logan spoke up, adjusting his glasses.

"He is merely in a mood - he will be talking again tomorrow, I am sure"

But, for once, Logan was wrong.

Roman didn't speak for the entire day, he left his room and grabbed a snack. Patton tried to talk to him but he acted as if the bubbly trait wasn't there, leaving the room in silence.

"How long will this go on" Logan sighed, shaking his head. "It's our fault" Patton frowned, hugging himself. "I shouldn't of-...we shouldn't have said that"

"Haven't you noticed? We've ganged up on him for the past five videos" Virgil spoke up, guilt eating away at him.

(Not in the actual videos, I just made it up for plot purposes)

"Oh no..." Patton whispered, covering his mouth.

"Do not worry, this will blow over tomorrow"

Logan was wrong once again, and you thought he was the intelligent one. Roman was sticking to his word, acting insensitive, not defending himself whenever a side would demand him to speak - the side usually adding an insult on the end - and not letting a single noise escape his lips.

The only time a noise did escape was when he was deep in the imagination, sobbing in a ball behind a tree.

Obviously, with how he was acting he became distant from the sides, not joining in on videos because - what would he say?

He didn't hang out with them, nor did he go to movie nights, and he outright silently refused to play board games with them on game night.

Virgil, Patton, and Thomas had been worried since day one, now on day fifty since Roman last spoke, Logan was finally seeing what he and everyone else did to Roman and how it affected him.

He felt like an idiot.

On day fifty-five Logan, Virgil, and Patton were all quietly sitting in the living room, not one had apologized to Roman yet...not even Patton.

Speaking of the devil, Roman walked into the room, glancing at the sides. Only Logan saw the dried tear stains on his cheeks. "Roman-!" Logan tried sitting up. Roman paused, eyes meeting Logan's.

"I...are you...are you going to speak?"

Romans jaw visibly clenched, how could they not understand all he wants is an apology? It seems whenever he was in the wrong he would apologize but if another side was in the wrong who would apologize to him? No one...

He marched out of the room and back to his own, the slamming door making the mind walls vibrate slightly.

"What are we doing wrong?" Logan muttered, dropping his book on the table. "Oh," Virgil uttered in realization, gaining the others attention.

"We haven't even said sorry to him...it's been days, and we haven't apologized..." Logan and Patton's faces fell.

"He's not the insensitive one" Patton mumbled, "we are..."

Roman lazily walked through the imagination, dragging his sword against the ground, eyes cast down in sadness.

"Princey's upset?" A creature taunted, Roman didn't reply like he usually would.

"Really upset" they voiced.

Roman pushed on, not feeling any motivation to attack the stupid creature. It walked next to Roman, his grin fading. "Reply!"

"Why?" Roman muttered, his voice weak and horse, the mere act of speaking scratching his throat to death.

"You're boring when you're silent!"

"And I'm insensitive when I'm not. Can I not win?"

"Princes don't win - they save lives and are expected to deal with insults like men" the creature tilted Romans head up, "but looks like they really tugged your heartstrings"

Roman swatted his hand away, glaring. "Fuck off"

The creature shrugged, flying away and leaving Roman alone, something he had been for awhile. He made his sword vanish, not really a threat to anything that would want to attack. He didn't care much, anyway. If no one else cared, why would he?

A few days passed, Roman hadn't stopped walking, not even once

Finally, he reached the end of the imagination. A deep, dark pit. Anything falls down there nothing - absolutely nothing could save them.

He looked down at the never-ending pit with a blank stare.

His crown (that he doesn't wear often) appeared in his hands. He stared down at it, face never changing from its dead expression.

"I don't deserve this" he whispered, throwing the crown into the pit.

He grabbed the badge on his sleeve, ripping it off in one clean rip. He also threw that into the pit, along with his sash, sword, and other items related to him being a "prince".

"I don't deserve anything" he whispered, eyes closing. His body swayed from lack of energy, he would either fall into the pit or fall back onto the dead grass.

Which did he want, though?

...he didn't want to know the answer.

Defensive, insensitive, talkative, Prince.

He wasn't a Prince, a Prince would've apologized by now - it's not his fault, but he shouldn't take insults to the heart, right? But when they're from people you love the most it hurts, hurts so much you feel your heart being crushed repeatedly by the words repeated in your mind.

Defensive, insensitive, talkative, Prince.

He opened his eyes, noticing he was closer to the pit, one small push and he would fall into the dark abyss...

Defensive, insensitive, talkative, Prince.

No, he didn't deserve the title of Prince.

Defensive, insensitive, talkative...Roman

One more step...

Defensive, insensitive, talkative Roman

But he couldn't.

He fell back onto the dead grass, tears streaming down his cheeks, sobs echoing around the empty land, nothing living in sight.

Louder and louder he sobbed, more violently did he shake, cascading tears that seemed never ending soaked his top.

Bringing what he had left of his energy he teleported back to his room, collapsing to the floor in a heap.

"Wait...is that him?"

Patton...

"I hear sobbing!"

Virgil...

"He is alive!"

Logan...

Roman slowly stood up, trying to lock the door but to no avail, the sides were already rushing in, Patton catching Roman before he collapsed again. "I'm sorry" Roman sobbed, clutching Patton. "I'm so sorry" he cried, Patton slowly falling down with him until they were on the floor, Patton crying with him.

"Shh," Patton tried to soothe him, rubbing his back with shaking hands. "Don't be sorry, R-Roman...please"

"You apologizing makes this whole situation worse because we should be apologizing, Roman" Logan spoke, resting a hand on Romans shoulder. Roman looked at the logical trait through a blurred vision from his tears.

"I'm sorry" Roman whispered again, Logan shook his head, requesting if he could hug the royal. Patton nodded and the two shared a hug.

"Where did you go? We were worried, Princey, don't do that again" Virgil demanded, but he couldn't explain the relief and happiness he felt when he saw Roman in here.

"I'm sorry" Roman cried once more.

"Stop apologizing!" Patton pleaded.

"We are so sorry, Roman" Logan finally spoke, "We did not mean to hurt you-you are not insensitive, and it is okay to defend oneself against verbal attacks - but please never go silent again" Logan leaned close to his ear, "I missed your voice" he whispered so Patton and Virgil didn't hear.

What Logan said only made Roman cry harder, mostly from happiness.

They all helped Roman onto his bed where he fell asleep, still crying, from his utter exhaustion.

They all watched him, frowns embedded onto their faces.

"Vow to never insult Roman again?" Virgil mumbled, holding his hand up. The other two agreed.

"But...small insults don't count" he added, a small grin on his face.

"Agreed"

They all left Roman to sleep in peace. Roman never went silent again...

Was that good? I don't know...

It's 12:02 pm and I have school tomorrow...

Kill meeeeeeeeee!

Let me fall into that pit, Roman, lolol

...I mean it though
