The nap that saved the date
I should mention that in all my stories the sides more or less live in the same house. And instead of the living room, they each have their own bedrooms. That way they can cuddle in bed in my stories instead of just sit together on the couch lol
Today was the day Patton was finally going to tell Logan how he felt. He has been trying for weeks to hint at Logan, most of them consisting of cheesy pickup lines and asking him what he would want in a relationship.
"I'm not sure what you are asking me," Logan would respond, "Don't you have to be in the relationship to know what you both need to do to keep it thriving?"
Patton would always smile at him and wonder how he managed to look so much cuter than him in those glasses.
It was early in the morning, Patton decided that he'd make some coffee for Logan, maybe that would loosen him up. Patton rolled out of bed, wondering if waking up at 5 am in the morning was worth all this hassle of trying to get into a relationship. His mood immediately brightened after thinking about what would happen after Logan confessed he felt the same way. Logan would take time to cuddle with Patton at night and get a good night's sleep instead of staying up late and mumbling to himself about whether or not aliens existed.
Patton hummed to himself lazily as he made his way to the kitchen, wondering how Logan would want his coffee made.
"Hello, Patton. You're up early. Would you like some coffee? The creamer is still in the fridge but I will gladly pour you a cup," Logan said, setting his own cup of black coffee down on the table.
Patton paused for a moment, staring at the already made coffee. Patton blinked, "Logan, did you sleep at all last night?"
Logan frowned, "Yes, I understand that sleep is a very important part of Thomas's well being. Therefore, I should also try to get the proper amount of sleep that I need."
Patton took a step forward, "Logan, how much sleep does the average human need?"
"Six to nine hours," Logan stated plainly, picking up his coffee and taking a long, slow drink.
Patton crossed his arms, feeling himself go into full dad mode, "And how long did you sleep last night?"
Logan tensed, setting his coffee back down on the table and staring at it, "Three hours."
Patton sighed, and without even thinking about it he mumbled a "Come on," and took Logan's arm, leading him back to his room.
"Patton I'm not sure I unders-oomph!" Logan grunted feeling himself being pushed onto the bed.
"Logan, how long has it been since you've had a full night's sleep?" Patton asked him, taking his glasses back off and setting them onto Logan's nightstand.
Logan shrugged, "I'm sure it wasn't that long ago, maybe a few weeks at most."
"That's a pretty long time, Logan," Patton said, laying down on the bed.
Logan didn't respond, just leaned against the headboard.
"What's so important that you have to stay up so late to get done?" Patton asked, scooting so he was sitting next to him.
Logan thought for a moment, "It's not that there is something important I need to finish, there are just so many different things I need to begin, like proving aliens exist, or schedules to help Thomas get through his day."
Patton nodded, "Well, maybe you should also start making schedules for yourself, it isn't healthy for you to be up so late. Taking care of yourself is taking care of Thomas. If his Logic isn't healthy who knows what would happen to him! Logan, we need you to take better care of yourself."
Logan shifted, "I understand that it's just that once I get started thinking about these things, I can't stop. I end up staying up all night wondering about how and why things work, and if I just had a little more knowla-"
"Hey! Logan, you need to just calm down," Patton warned, cutting him off, "Come on, you're going to sleep."
"Patton, I couldn't fall asleep before so why should I be able to fall asleep-Patton what are you doing," Logan asked nervously, feeling himself be tugged down till he was laying on the bed.
"Wanna know what always helps me?" Patton asked, smiling lazily as he took Logan's glasses from him to set them on the nightstand next to his.
"If I knew I would probably also have the ability to fall asleep at the appropriate ti-," Logan mumbled, feeling his face heat up as Patton wrapped his arm around his waist.
"Cuddling," Patton mumbled, snuggling his nose in the crook of Logan's neck.
Logan hesitated, slowly letting his hands rest on Patton's torso.
"I'm sorry, Patton said, his hands now suddenly hovering over Logan's waist, "If you want me to stop I will. I forgot you don't really like physical conta-"
"No!" Logan cried out, his hands holding tighter onto Patton's shirt. Logan coughed awkwardly, "I-I'm sorry I don't, I don't know what came over me," Logan stuttered, feeling his face throb with embarrassment. "I don't want to stop, uh, cuddling," Logan said, hesitantly tugging Patton closer to him.
Patton beamed, wrapping his arms back around Logan and his face to go back into the crook of Logan's neck. Logan could feel him smiling against his neck. He could also feel him breathing, a lot. He noticed his heart rate was heightened, more so than average. The breathing and beating of his heart was a lot more distracting and comforting than Logan would have originally thought, he doesn't even remember falling asleep.
Logan could feel the warmth of Patton's body shift as Patton lazily rested his head in his palm, held up by his elbow. He could feel the warmth of his hand as it brushed away the stray hairs tickling his face. "You're so cute when you're asleep," Patton whispered with a soft smile, and it took everything in Logan not to tell Patton he was awake. He feared that Patton would stop stroking his hair. For some reason, he found it very soothing and felt much calmer.
Although, everything began to feel a lot less calm after Patton left a lingering kiss on Logan's forehead. Logan's face immediately heated up and he felt his stomach start to ache in a tickling manner.
"I just wish you'd take better care of yourself," Patton admitted with a small smile. Logan made a mental note to make room for at least six hours of sleep tomorrow, hopefully corresponding with the time that Patton decided he needed to rest his mind as well.
His mind couldn't focus very long on rearranging his schedule although, for a few seconds later Patton was laying back down. Patton looped his arms around Logan's waist, head snuggled into his neck. Logan once again felt that warm and comfortable aura surround him.
Logan shifted slightly, letting himself find a comfortable position to sleep in. After finding a comfortable spot to put his arms, he subconsciously left a small peck on Patton's shoulder. It wasn't until he felt Patton's breathing stutter and his heart rate increase did he even notice what he had done.
"Logan?" Patton whispered, "Are you awake?" The fear in Patton's voice made Logan's stomach ache and found himself unable to respond.
Patton stayed frozen for a moment, before slowly slumping back down into Logan's embrace. Logan focused on Patton's breathing, knowing that was the only he was going to be able to fall asleep. Logan would later have to do research on why that is, but that was much later. His eyelids were becoming too heavy to keep open. He could already feel Patton falling asleep as well. It made no sense to stay awake and think, and that was all the convincing he needed.
Logan felt something shift next to him, and his eyes fluttered open.
"Patton?" He asked groggily, rubbing the Rheum from his eyes.
Patton chuckled softly, "Can't get past you, huh? Here I am thinking I'm going to be this sneaky ninja about to make you breakfast, and you wake up before I even leave the bed."
Logan smiled tiredly, "As much as I appreciate it, Patton I think I'd rather just spend time with you."
Patton's heart jumped in his chest as he shuffled back under the blankets, leaning against the bed frame.
Logan sat there for a while, shoulder and shoulder with Patton. He let his mind drift from wondering if technology will advance quick enough for him to go to the moon before he died, to what has happened all today.
"Patton, do you wish to commit to a romantic relationship with me? From the data that I've collected from the last five hours, it seems although my "feelings" are reciprocated," Logan said. Logan turned to look Patton in the face, who stared in shock at him.
Logan swallowed nervously, "Unless my obvious bias made me misinterpret all of the "signs," I thought I saw, then, in that case, I apologize and-"
"No! Not at all! Logan, I've liked you forever!" Patton laughed nervously, "I just didn't know I was so bad at hiding it."
"Well, you can't hide the physical characteristics of it, such as increased heart rate and dilatated pupils," Logan shrugged, looking down just in case his pupils were also dilated.
"Logan," Patton cooed, "Did I hear that you liked me back? I'm pretty sure I heard "feelings are reciprocated" somewhere in that little rant of yours!"
Logan felt his face heat up, "Yes, I have done some thinking and I believe there is a high chance that I desire to be in a long lasting relationship with you."
Patton grinned, "Does this mean I get to kiss you?"
Logan stuttered, not prepared for such an out front approach. His stomach felt like it twisted into a knot as Patton leaned in close, and his lips tingled as he felt Patton's breath on his lips.
"That would be appreciated, yes," Logan mumbled awkwardly, voice shaky and flustered.
Patton giggled and Logan felt his stomach metaphorically "flutter" as their lips brushed lightly against each other's. Logan leaned in closer, causing their lips to press closer together. Patton pulled away, unable to stop the giant smile spreading across his face.
Logan grumbled about how hard it was to kiss someone who wouldn't stop smiling so much but couldn't stop his own cheeky smile from spreading across his face as he pulled the covers off of him. He stood up, pausing for a moment to think.
"Patton, does this mean that we are now in a relationship? If so, then I would like to have most of my nights that are dedicated to "recharging my brain" to be in your presence, if that is not too much to ask," Logan asked. Logan reached over and grabbed his glasses, sliding them onto his face.
"Not at all, you can come to cuddle with me at any moment," Patton grinned, pecking Logan's cheek, "And yeah if you want I would totally be in a relationship with you!" Patton nuzzled his nose against Logan's, and Logan was wondering how he was going to be able to handle so much affection in such short notice.
"Just let me know if I'm overdoing it," Patton whispered, "As much as I love being this close to you, I don't want you to feel overly smothered."
Logan grinned sheepishly, "I don't think that's going to be a problem."
"We should head out and make sure Roman and Virgil don't stress Thomas out, their constant bickering has to have Thomas going nearly bats by now," Patton giggled, straightening out the gift that Logan got him around his shoulders.
Logan just hummed in agreement, pondering as to how Patton was going to announce this new piece of information. Logan's hypothesis is through a pun, which Logan obviously has mixed feelings about.
(Ok so I'm kind of doubting this story, but it's four pages long and I'm actually pretty proud of it for the most part. There are some parts that I like more than others but overall I feel like I did decent lol)
