Chapter 2

"Here we are!" Patton exclaimed, making his presence known to a person who was sitting on a mushroom throne. "Thomas, this is Janus. The Caterpillar."

Thomas looked at Janus. "He's a little bit big to be a caterpillar."

"Not... entirely." Janus opened his eyes and looked at Thomas. Janus had four arms, black and yellow button-up vest, yellow puff jeans, and black and yellow boots. He had a smoking pipe in one of his hands.

Patton leaned over to Thomas. "He barely uses two arms..."

Janus placed the smoking pipe in his mouth. He looked at Thomas and Patton for a sec and then removed the pipe from his mouth. He puffed smoke directly in Thomas and Patton's face. Patton coughed.

"Good to see you too, Janus..." Patton muttered and coughed again. Thomas just waved his hand around.

"You must be Thomas. I've heard so much about you." Janus said.

"Really? From who?" Thomas asked.

"Correction. From whom have I heard that you were coming?" Janus glared at Thomas.

"Yes, exactly."

"He heard from me!" A voice said. Everyone turned and saw two people emerge from the bushes, holding hands.

One of them was wearing a lot of pastel colors and the other one was wearing dark colors. The pastel one giggled and skipped up to Thomas.

"Hey there! I'm Emile, also known as Tweedle-Dum! This here is my boyfriend, Remy. He's Tweedle-Dee." Emile gestured to the other one. Remy just walked up to Thomas.

"Sup?" Remy said and looked at Janus. "Yo, Caterpillar Man! How's it going?"

"It's going alright..." Janus muttered and leaned on his throne, still looking at Thomas.

"Anyway, I brought Thomas here. Is he the right Thomas?" Patton asked, almost unsure of himself.

"Hm... not. Entirely." Janus squinted his eyes and looked away.

"Not entirely?" Patton asked. "What does that mean?"

"The scroll, Emile." Janus looked at Emile. Emile nodded and summoned the scroll, much to the amazement of Thomas. He had never seen anyone summon something out of thin air before. Emile layed out the scroll on a pair of rocks. Everyone except for Janus looked at it. Janus continued to smoke.

"Oh, it says something about the chosen one defeating the brother of the King Of Hearts. As well as the brother's pet...? What's the brother's pet?"

"The Jabberwocky," Janus said.

"What!?" Emile, Remy, and Patton yelled. Thomas was confused at what the Jabberwocky was.

"Well, it refers to Thomas as the chosen one," Emile said.

"Not entirely." Janus looked at Emile.

"I hate it when you're vague..." Emile muttered. Janus smirked.

"Of course. That Thomas in the scroll has been trapped for years. This Thomas is... older and not like the Thomas from years ago." Janus explained.

"Well, we'll prove you wrong!" Patton yelled at Janus, making Emile and Remy gasp. Janus' eyes widened.

"How will you do that?" Janus questioned.

"We'll gather an army of people and defeat the brother of the King Of Hearts as well as the dreaded Jabberwocky!" Patton said with confidence.

"Good luck with that..." Remy muttered. Emile punched his arm lightly.

"Remy..." Emile looked at him. Remy sighed.

"I mean it. You'll need all the luck you can get." Remy smiled a bit.

Emile grinned. "Yeah, good luck to the both of you!"

Everyone looked at Janus.

"What? You expect me to say something about this? I don't give luck." Janus glared at them, making the others sigh.

"Fine, we'll go through the woods to get to the Mad Hatter's house," Patton said.

"Be careful, the woods are dangerous," Emile warned.

"We will. Goodbye, everyone!" Patton and Thomas waved goodbye and set off to the woods.

"They're going to die," Remy said.

"Shhh, Remy! I really need to teach you how to keep your mouth shut..." Emile said.

"Just kiss him, that usually does the trick," Janus said and smoked his pipe. Emile and Remy blushed furiously.
